Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday

Morning All, sunny day on the shore. Still drinking coffee and debating whether to take the tree down. I would normally leave it up another week but when I pass the storage bins stacked in my bedroom I change my mind. It’s always more fun to decorate the tree than take it down. Then have to get the complex luggage cart, load it, go to the suv, load the bins, drive to daughters, unload the bins. Maybe I will wait a couple more says. :? Think I have 2 more weeks of PT. Will need to exercise on my own without their equipment. Scary. Therapist suggested a gym, I don’t think so. Complex has an fitness room. Last time I was there in my sweats an 18 year old came in in her spandex with her perfect body, dropped to the floor and did push ups. I was struggling to do 10 minutes on the treadmill. Karen, very nice bathroom. Your handymen did a good job with the floor covering and molding. I especially want you to have a real bed. I would need help getting up off a inflatable mattress. Tina, think about your challenges and hope all is going well. Judy, healing wishes for your foot. For all others, ice is your friend. If someone else would start morning coffee you would be saved from this post. Be safe. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rtajxo8d7js

Shirl, I always enjoy your morning "report"! I'm like you procrastinating on taking the tree down, but since ours was a "live" tree that's now drying out, it has to come down and become part of my yard compost. And I'm motivated to get that Christmas train and village put away, though son convinced me yesterday to leave it up another day. If I get the train stuff put away I can take down the card table he has wanted up to do Legos on for two years, but I'm tired of looking at it and he doesn't have any big builds to do at the moment. A lot of cleaning and sorting and discarding books, hinges on that table being put away! I discovered while sitting at the card table, two bags of Weight Watcher cookbooks, still in their original bags tucked in a corner, never even used.and I haven't done WW in a decade I think. Won't be either because almost every one of the books I picked up is loaded with recipes using ingredients I just can't use, especially flour ( I'm pretty gluten sensitive). So someone will get a bunch of brand new cookbooks for 2021. Hopeful I can get him up before 3 pm and get that first piece of the living room puzzle, the train and village, put away. I want him doing the taking apart of train into individual cars and pack the track since he is my Lego expert. We try to keep them easily reassembled for each years putting back up on display. We are already researching next years build!
Contemplating walking on treadmill again today, watching craft videos as I walk. It's good for me, but so easy to procrastinate!
Tina, hope you are improving. Karen, hope the bed shows up, your bathroom sure looks nice. If you are out there fulltime or camping for weekend, I envy your time in nature, have fun.
Have a good day all.

Still lazing around in bed. Lola is being very sweet and affectionate. Her dish must be empty!

Karen, nice looking bathroom. I wish mine was bigger like that. What color will you paint it? I assume some version of blue? Love your faucet!

Need to get to some housecleaning today. Getting a bit messy in here. I did use my humidifier last night and it did help in here.

Just saw that my stimulus check arrived. I need to pay bills here too today. Then put the leftover money into my savings account. Feels so much better putting money into that account than taking it out!

I also need to water my plants outside. Meant to do that yesterday but forgot. My poor tomato plant is turning yellow. Not sure if that is from over watering or under watering. We are supposed to get some rain next week from a big storm moving in. We'll see how much actually makes it here.

My tummy is growling. I better go find something to put in it. Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I spent last night at no hookups Boulder Beach on Lake Mead. (Or at least it used to be on Lake Mead, before the lake shrunk a few hundred feet!) No electricity meant I could not use my electric space heaters, so had to rely on my furnace and propane. I try to use the electric heaters when I can because propane goes really fast in this cold weather. And it has been dropping below freezing every night--Brrrrr!

In order to get a campsite at first-come, first-served Valley of Fire, I had to get up this morning at 7 am, just as the sun was coming up. Dumped my tanks and made it to Valley of Fire campground by 9 am. Found one spot, but it was extremely uneven, so got out and started walking around. Found another more level site and left a note on the post that I was checking in, then ran (as best as I can run in my old age with a sore foot) and grabbed my "Site Occupied" sign. Plunked it down, then got my rig and circled around the campground to my spot and pulled in. Whew! Then had to pay cash for one night. I want to stay longer, but might be able to get an even better site tomorrow. Anyway, need to do a search to find my spare checks. I have my checkbook, but it has been a very long time since I have seen my spare checks, and you all know how easy it is to misplace things in these rigs!

Let foot dry out last night, but put antibiotic ointment on it for several hours early this morning to soften it up so skin can heal better from the sides. Only about half an inch wide now. Was almost an inch wide originally. Still almost 3" long but a little less painful.

I am ready for a nap now! Seriously. Was up late last night writing an annual update for my blog.

I forgot to check in yesterday. Just got caught up on all the news. Glad to see Tina checking in and sounding more hopeful. We went to bed at our usual time New Year’s Eve, and didn’t watch any balls drop. Haven’t been watching much news at all. Got up New Year’s Day full of energy and good thoughts to start the new year. Weather has been iffy, so my outside chores are cutting back plants damaged by recent frosts, picking up sticks and raking pine straw. Today was rainy off and on, so I worked in my office cleaning out and organizing my desk and file cabinet. We are well and looking forward to receiving the vaccine soon. That’s my itty bitty news.

I posted yesterday, then lost the post. I remembered rabbits for a change. The sun was out with a little bit of warmth so did water jogging.
Shirl, the old Lang zine was spectacular!!!!! Thank you. I bet you remember when Perry Como used to sing, either Oh Holy Night or Ava Maria on Christmas Eve. Wish I could remember which it was.
Today we had a drive through Birthday Party for the GGS (twins) that turned one year old. My older GS turned up with his arm in a sling from a skiing accident.
Not only with my reading (350 books in 2020), I have been watching old Hallmark movies on my iPad. Saw one about John Denver which was excellent. Then one about horses trapped on a mountain high, high up in the Rockies. A trench had to be dug through the snow to walk them out. Really good story. I need these “feel good “ stories right now.
So, Happy New Year to all.

Happy New Year! I remembered to say Rabbits before I said Happy New Year! Although no one was around to hear me. DH was in bed and I was watching TV. Another exciting New Years Eve in the books. This year was because of COVID previous years has been going to happy hour with friends early evening and heading home before the idiots are out and about. Christmas tree is still up…but I’ve always left if up until the Epiphany so I have until Wednesday. I did unplug the outside lights.
I have my name in at two clinics for the COVID vaccine. So, I’ll go to the first one that calls me and cancel at the other. One clinic told me I could be eligible mid-January.
Good to hear from you Tina. I pray you keep making progress. Judy, I agree with Beth about leaving your wound uncovered to heal at night. Karen, the bathroom looks great. Barbie, I like your outside décor.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Heading into dinner time now. Ty likes it here. Funny he never made friends with people or dogs at Death Valley, but he has made friends with both here and goes looking for them when we go out. It's the middle of nowhere but we've enjoyed it and would come back. Of course the Italian beef sandwiches won me over.

Lyn, I'm reading less but watching TV, etc more. And Hallmark will be my channel of choice when I'm back at the casita. Now, more than ever, we need those feel good moments.

Barbie, I've been sleeping in later and later. I want a fairly early start Monday, and it might not be possible lol

Shirl, I love your posts, so keep them up please.

Good evening!

Shirl, what a beautiful video! Thank you!

I was really on a reading binge, but I think having the kids' Netflix and adding Hallmark to my prime account took over. I haven't had Hallmark in years. Lyn, I haven't watched the John Denver video yet, but he was a favorite in our family.

Karen, progress and looks great! Fingers crossed for mattresses. Tina, so glad to see your posts!

Getting up in the morning is getting harder since it's chilly. All this free time and I cannot get interested in doing anything - me who was so busy getting genealogy done. Nope. Kids don't like fighting tourist traffic on weekends, but I think they will come get me tomorrow for the football game. I have needed a haircut for well over a month and daughter says tomorrow. :D

Having rain now with about 10 inches of snow on the ground. Really didn't expect it to rain so much here during the winter.

Must be time for more TV. Be safe!

So, where is my incentive check? If I got one in the spring, shouldn't I get one now? I keep checking, but so deposit. :(

Judy, I read not everyone will receive a second stimulus. Don’t know why I received a check instead of direct deposit the first time.

Mine showed up in my account today. Shirl, it's still by income, the cap is a little lower, but not by much.
