Warming up Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Warming up Tuesday

Postby Irmi » Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:26 pm

Good afternoon ladies!

Tina, I hope no news is good news. Please take care.

It is finally warming here in our area and we'll get to the mid 70's today with sunshine.

We had a visitor in our motorhome this morning, but Steve just caught it and it running around outside somewhere. I was on the phone with a close friend from upstate NY several hours ago and saw movement on the top of the slide that our couch is in on the passenger side of our coach. It was a garden snake about a foot long. He fell off the slide onto a small table next to the captains chair and then fell to the floor. Unfortunately, at this point we lost him and were hoping he went back out through the slide to the outside. A few minutes ago, Steve saw the movement of its tail on the window ledge beside the captains chair, caught it and took it outside. That's my itty bitty news.

OH good lord. A snake......sends shivers up my spine. I would have burnt down my Motorhome LOL Glad he did get evicted tho. I dont have a Steve so burning would be my only option LOL

My worker bees are here this morning doing my guest bathroom. Was so nice to use the commode in master bathroom and not be sitting dang near on the floor. And it is clean. I cleaned bathrooms well when I moved in but so happy to have brand new stuff in there with my own dirt instead of someone elses. Found out this home was the model when they opened the park. Previous owner bought it new but never really kept it up. The structure is great but so many things they did in it just half assed. I still have plenty to do but need to watch the $$$ now as I have invested quite a bit already in furniture, carpeting, flooring, fixtures, doors, appliances, window coverings, labor and other things I have needed just to replace. It is coming together tho. And since I dont plan on moving anytime soon I will get to enjoy my upgrades. I found a couple of gems in my handymen. My neighbor and his son (who is very good at everything) have saved me a ton of money. I would not have been able to do everything I wanted if they werent reasonable and hard workers. They know carpentry, plumbing, electrical etc. I am blessed.

  When it comes to snakes, I am right there with you! If it was a mouse or something else with fur and feet, I would name it, hang out with it, and then send it on it's way with an invite to visit!

Glad your place is coming along so well. It is great to have a good, dependable handiman! The smaller stuff you can work on yourself as you go along, like the yard, etc. I wish I had more money to do stuff around here. I really need new windows. Mine are single pane and should be double pane but I have a lot of windows so that would cost a lot. My friend Dave is a window guy so I might ask how much it would cost just to do the two bedroom windows for now.

We got rain overnight. Must have been a decent amount since there are puddles all over. Lots of snow on the mountains and is so pretty to look at.

There were just 4 of us playing putter golf this morning. I actually birdied 3 holes! It is a par 3 and I got 2 strokes on three of the holes! One of them is a really tough hole that rolls downhill with a 90* bend between two palm trees! Very tricky! :o

Later, I am going to Dave and Debbie's to give them haircuts. Then I need to get stuff done around here. Been so lazy the past week or so.

Enjoy your day! :D

I don't know what I would do if a snake got in my motorhome. Sugar would probably eat it. My son still delights in telling about a snake in his bedroom. He was about 10 and I was standing up in his water bed trying to pick him up by his head. It was a 12 inch garden snake.

Karen, you were lucky to find good handy men. I am still waiting to hear about repairs to my house.

I need to go to town but moving slow. I need to go today because it's suppose to rain tomorrow.

I had my Italian beef last night. I'm guessing I'll have it 2 or more times again this week. Yum.

This morning I woke up early and for some reason I picked up my phone and discovered a message from one of my best friends from high school. I've been crying off and on since. Lucky we were texting and she couldn't see it. She's a nurse who has been on the front lines all year. She was tested again before she could have the vaccine and unfortunately tested positive. She's more upset that she'd already passed it to her husband. She's the sicker of the two, so far, and caring for both of them at this time. All year I've been terrified for a couple of my hs gfs who have been on the frontline. Finally I thought they would get their shots... One did, at least the 1st shot so far. Cate is the most caring person I know. Please keep her and her husband in your thoughts and prayers, however you pray.

I, unfortunately, wouldn't recognize the good snakes from the bad and would be terrified. My mother always tried to tell me the garden snakes were good. To me any snake is to be feared. I'm glad you released it though.

Beth, sorry to hear of your nursing friends positive test. This pandemic is a terrible thing. I hope your friends recover soon.

LOL. I guess I am in the minority here. I actually quite like snakes, and find them to be very interesting creatures. I will often pick them up and handle them a bit if I see one and can easily catch it.

Many years ago, when I was still living on acreage in the Sierra Foothills, I was walking home from the neighbor's down a dusty path that connected our two properties. There was a smallish snake basking on the trail a few short steps in front of me, and just as I was reaching to pick it up. . . I noticed it's triangular-shaped head, and the "buttons" on the end of it's tail.

Decided not to pick that one up after all  . . . as soon as it saw me, it moved off into the bushes, and I never saw it again - even though I often walked back and forth to the neighbors on that same path.

Snakes will almost always avoid you if you give them the chance.

Hello All. Very late here. I ran all my errands this morning and now have nothing to do...

I would not want to have a snake in my rig and since my rig has 4 exit doors, you can be sure I would be using one of them!

This is the snake that visited us this morning and basked all afternoon on one of our rose bushes. He's not there anymore and hope he pays a visit to someone else:

Give me a snake over a mouse any day! A snake fell in the back door one time here and I chased it down and got it out. But Toby dropped a dead mouse on the porch right at my feet and all I could do was yell for DH to come and get it!

I don't like snakes, but I do like alligators. The females are really good mothers--but can't say the same for the males.

I am sorry to hear about your friends, Beth, but I am glad none of us have been sick. This disease is so sneaky. Way back in March, I was pretty sure that I would eventually get it, but am lucky so far. Living alone and teaching online really does help. My concern is mainly having to go into stores. My son and family are still doing well, luckily.

I drove 299 miles today from Napa to Bakersfield. Feels good to be moving again, but my darn left leg with the scrape is really swollen and sore from not being able to put it up enough today. Having my Laz-Y-boy is really helpful, but driving and trying to stuff my left foot into a slipper was hard. Another long day of driving tomorrow to get to Las Vegas. Will spend one night in Boulder Beach and then head out early in the morning to get a first-come, first-served site at Valley of Fire.

Oh, big excitement yesterday. You know how the instruction booklet that comes with your RV says never to close the black tank while you are flushing it??? Well, I had read it and knew what you were NOT supposed to do, but did it anyway! Forgot about it while I got into a conversation with someone. My son dropped by and noticed water (aka sewage) coming out of the vent on top of my motorhome and running down the side. So he yelled at me and turned the water off. I ran over and pulled the black tank valve open, and there was a huge rush of stuff. I was lucky sewage hose did not break. Then ran inside to see if sewage on bathroom floor--luckily not, but toilet was full, so flushed it. Then son got on my roof and said it was covered in sewage, so I handed him hose, and he rinsed it off. So, no damage that we could discover, other than the vent pipe popped up and broke the seal around the ring. I need to get someone to get up there and check all the seams and seal everything anyway, so will try to get someone while I am in Las Vegas. Whew!

Anyway, follow instructions and don't do what I did.

Hope you are doing better, Tina, if you are reading stuff here.

Bathrooms all finished. They look so nice and clean. Sure was glad to get rid of that nasty carpet. Now I will put my new towels out after I buy a couple of new "undented" towel racks, new toilet paper holder and bath mats. I need to go shopping tomorrow for several other things also as I havent been to the stores since a week before Christmas. They were all so busy I just didnt want to chance it. Only places I went were Lowes and Home Depot ha ha they were not busy at all. I have some curtains to hang also but need to get a couple of decorative rods and put them up first

Housekeeping also on my list for tomorrow as the worker bees tracked in quite a bit of dust etc. So will give my big vacuum a workout when I get back from the stores.

Went to give Dave and Debbie haircuts. They are the only ones I will do haircuts on besides my next door neighbor. I know they don't go anywhere in mixed company.

Got really windy in the afternoon and felt very chilly. Calmed down this evening but now I can hear the wind really whipping again.

My old roommate from Vista said her new roommate just got a positive Covid test so she is worried she may be infected now.

Made some brownies tonight. They are Ghirardelli brownies and are SO good! Best I have made in a long time! Made some cheesy pasta for lunch. (no sugar or carbs there, right?? :o )

Good night!
