Frosty Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Frosty Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:14 am

Morning All, has been very cold and quiet on the shore. Children were very generous with gifts. Received a gift card for Fishermans so New Years Eve dinner is paid for. I ordered a stick vacumn cleaner hoping it will be easier on my back and encourage cleaning more often. Reading reviews on Amazon it’s difficult to choose. Hope the cons listed are because people do not read directions. That’s my itty bitty news. Be safe

Hi Shirl & everyone!

Tina, I sure hope you're starting to feel better.

Shirl, you can't go wrong having dinner from the Fisherman's Inn!

The last cold snap is finally gone and we are in the low 70's in Webster FL. Yesterday we woke up to a heavy frost.

Our local country store had the one pound bags of split peas on their shelf a little bit ago, so we'll be having pea soup soon. I use a very meaty ham bone plus I also add a link of cut up kielbasa for a super meaty soup. I made a bean soup last week, but we prefer pea soup. That's my itty bitty news.

Not frosty here, it's 77 and sunny. Our crazy weather. The noon weather report says we will have severe weather Thursday and I'm suppose to go to the local campground for New Years.

For Christmas I made a half recipe of green bean casserole. I wasn't sure I liked green bean casserole but it turned out good. The only thing I did different was use caned milk because I had a can open and extra onions which made it crunchy. I didn't know what I was going to do with half a can of mushroom soup so decided to make the casserole again. My grandson sent me a gift card for The Cheesecake Factory and the nearest one is in New Orleans or Houston. That's his favorite restaurant so probably didn't think about where one would be near me.

I don't know what I will do this afternoon. I need to go to the bank before the end of the year. I have a couple of farm checks that need to be deposited so the income is in this year. Not looking forward to income tax again but at least all the papers are in the file drawer.

I should go walk while it's warm. Sugar loves to go for a walk but walking with her isn't much exercise. She has to smell everything. She would have make a good hunting dog, she has a nose on her. I have to watch that there isn't anything in the yard like a dead bird so she doesn't get sick again. She grabbed that bird and ate it feathers and all and I couldn't get it away from her.

I could take the Christmas tree down but might put Mardi Gras decorations on it. Pinky won't be happy if I take the Christmas rug under the tree away. She has been sleeping on it since I put it out.

Good morning/afternoon everyone. It's cloudy off and on here and in 50's. Need couple items for our NYE , which will be spent quietly watching tv or playing games. Connect four is a favorite. Back to full carnivore eating, tired of feeling icky from carbs. Even Mandy is feeling the chill of morning, she crawled past me here in bed and is curled up under covers at my feet! Smart kitty. Tina, I hope the new year brings improvement for you. Hope all here have a safe happy start to the new year. Stay safe, those in storm zone.
Sean said he was coming to work here today, hope I'll hear news on Darendas progress (in ICU on ventilator with CoVid).
I am going to step onto treadmill for a mile or two then shower before getting a few things done. Want to test my new watercolors my son got me. Practice, practice!
Have a good day everyone.

Hello All...

Yesterday was a lost day. I watch TV too late so phone woke me about 11. 2 hour conversation with one grandson - that never happens so I knew he wanted something (that was a first). :) I watched it snow while we talked. Then football.

Shirl, I have started looking for a food processor and the reviews are a little scary. Cuisinart and Kitchen Aid have always been considered topline, but they along with others are all said to be cheaply made.
Martha, I used to have a small manzanita branch I hung various holiday decorations on, but you are giving me ideas! I'm starting to think I'll get a tall, thin tree next year. Maybe I'll keep it up after Christmas in my work room and decorate for other holidays.
Velda, I miss having someone to play games with!

I can't post any of my photos of Leavenworth so I borrowed this website if you are interested.

Was expecting to wake up to rain this morning but instead, the sun was out and it was very windy! The wind has calmed down some now but I could hear palm fronds hitting the roof all night. I don't think we got any rain overnight tho. The storm is coming over the mountains from the west so Palm Springs probably got wet but those storms rarely make it to this side of the valley. Will have to look if the mountains are white with snow. They were predicting up to a foot of it in the mountains.

Been kind of bloated and uncomfortable this morning so not doing much. Lola is hanging out with me on the bed.

Covid cases are exploding out here now! California reported 50,000 new cases just for yesterday! :o
Our park sent out an email this morning about Covid. So far no outbreaks here but there will be more snowbirds coming in over the next couple weeks now that the holidays are over so they are warning everyone to be extra careful here. We will probably get a few more ladies playing putter golf too. Hope they wear masks!

...The mailman just showed up with my new monoculars. Can't wait to try them out!

Martha, I have never cared for green been casserole only because I don't like the onions on the top. I thought maybe if I put tator tots on top instead, that would be good, but then I realized that would be just like tator tot casserole instead, which I make quite a bit but with more veggies.

Irmi, I love split pea soup!! My uncle used to make that every time they had a ham dinner, and bring a bunch of it out to our house. Yum!

Have a good day!

I have only made split pea soup once and I didn't care for it. I don't think that's a common meal around here. We are more red beans and black-eyed peas.

There aren't many people left down here but last night and tonight I heard fireworks. I was afraid they would spook Sugar but didn't seem to bother her. They weren't very close.

Finally got some rain tonight but not much. They got a lot more up around Palm Springs. Even snow in the high desert north of here (near Joshua Tree Nat'l Park's north entrance). Still snowing in the mountains so hopefully will be able to see that tomorrow.

Got golf in the morning so I won't be able to sleep in. Probably a good thing. Been too lazy lately.

Probably need to make a run to WM and Home Depot tomorrow or Wednesday.
