Thursday, Christmas Eve

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday, Christmas Eve

Postby Liz » Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:52 am

Good morning everyone. I have an early morning update about Tina after inquiring from Dennis. She has been back in the hospital for 6 days after they put in a drain. She came home yesterday with IV antibiotics and a drain in her side. Dennis says her pain is greatly reduced. Hoping she is now on the road to recovery.

Not much happening here. Covid has come to visit again in the Village so we are staying home for the most part. We will watch the Christmas Eve service on TV. Our plans for a short visit with family for lunch in Lake City Saturday is also cancelled due to COVID. My daughter and SIL tested positive and are isolating at home in GA with mild symptoms.

But tomorrow we celebrate the day God came to earth as a baby to live among us and to give his life so that we may live. Nothing seems so bad when you look at it in that context. Merry Christmas to all my forum friends.

Good chilly morning here. 28°, even the dog didn't want to stay outside for very long. Had to remember to take my garbage out today as they won't be picking up tomorrow. Thank you Alexa.

Thanks Liz for the update on Tina, wow she has really had a time of it. Will be rooting for a quick recovery now. Liz I hope your family recovers quickly and also good thoughts for everyone out there with friends or family struggling with this dang Covid.

I seem to have very nice neighbors here. My handymans wife sent a tin of fudge and cookies. Another neighbor left a card that said "welcome to my new neighbor" but didnt sign it so who knows. My next door neighbor came over last night with a plate of cookies and we visited for a bit.....good grief how does a gal resist homemade cookies and fudge.

Not much on my agenda for today. Laura is coming down tomorrow for the day and so there will be a good gab session. She was here when I bought this place and now she gets to see many of my improvements. As soon as I get some mattresses (the saga continues) she will come down for a few days and we can have some fun. I will also plan a visit up her way as soon as all my deliveries have come. She has awesome shopping up there LOL Not too many more days before we usher in 2021...I am so ready. I think I might even have a much better attitude. I know not too much will change right away but I have high hopes things will improve, hopefully quickly.

Morning Liz, thanks for the Tina update. Knew she was dealing with a serious illness but hoped she was recovering. Hopefully antibiotics will solve the problem. Liz, a speedy recovery for your family. No major chores today, just putzing. Be safe

Liz, thanks so much for the update. Yes, I've been worrying. Tina, I hope this is your big step forward needed. Barbie, I love your palm frond reindeer. It's in the low 30's here right now so I'm waiting before I get out of bed. Luckily Ty is still snuggling under the covers also. And, Liz, prayers for your family with Covid, and to all with it everywhere.

Good morning Everybody,
Liz, thank you for the Tina update. We’ve all been so worried. Hope your family members recover quickly with no lasting side effects...
Barbie, I had to go back to see the reindeer. How clever; I love it. If I had palm trees I’d make two for the garage instead of holly swags, which I have to take down this afternoon. 65 mph winds and torrential rain are predicted for Christmas Day!
Keep your sprits up and find something to enjoy about today. Peggy

Was hoping for better progress for Tina, hopefully that is coming now. Liz prayers your family quickly recover. Unfortunately I think there will be a surge after Christmas and after New Years, but hopefully by then vaccines will become more wide spread and our world can get back to more open activity. I'm looking forward to not feeling anxious every time I go out. I'm careful, but for sure, not everyone is.
Going to be a quiet day here. I will head to nearby grocery soon to pck up the lettuce I need for our salad and a couple of other things. Then have on my task list to bake potatoes for twice baked for tomorrow and put together the Amish breakfast casserole for tomorrow breakfast. I received (thank you Amazon) a really cute set of cat print oven mitts I'm going to wrap for my son. He's starting to try a few more kitchen things. We will go out and see the lights tonight, ESP the blocks and blocks of candle lit luminaria.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve! :D

Cloudy and still this morning. Have had a crow making noise outside my window for awhile.

Thank you for your comments on my reindeer. Not any talent involved, stole the idea too, but was fun to make. We usually have tons of palm fronds all over the place but the landscape crew was on top of things earlier this week and cleaned them all up. Just that one that came down in the brief wind we had yesterday. Next year I will save a bunch and make more for my neighbors here, and make them a few weeks before Christmas. And find my hot glue gun. I used super glue at first but that didn't work, then tried some other glue I found around here which worked but took a couple hours to dry. Found my hot glue sticks but no gun  . That would have been much more efficient and faster.

Am thinking I might go for a hike nearby today or tomorrow. I have yet to check out the Indio Badlands trail behind my park here. Not too strenuous I have heard and is one big loop. Also need to pick up my spaghetti dinner later today. I never did get around to making cookies. Maybe for New Years. My neighbor brought be some peanut butter cookies and fudge the other day too. :D

Looks like the sun is trying to peek thru now. I got a couple packages delivered yesterday and are still in my mailbox so will pick those up. One is a small humidifier which I badly need for my bedroom at night. So dry in here!

I put food out every night for a stray kitty. Well, last night I was watching out my kitchen window and saw three different cats show up! A black and white one, an all white one, and a light siamese colored one. There is also the light orange cat that usually shows up but didn't see him last night. Someone has been "spraying" on my slider door, so must be one of them marking their "territory".

Glad that Tina is back home from the hospital. Hopefully, this time she will start to heal and get back on her feet soon! Poor thing! Glad Dennis is there to help her. And glad Liz is giving us updates! Thank you Liz! And hope your family gets and stays healthy!

I need to check on my church's Christmas services. Not sure when they will be on-line. Going to church on Christmas Eve was something I always did with my dad for the midnight candlelight service, after everyone left our house. I have gone by myself every year since then. I will for sure miss that this year. Just won't be the same. :(

Have a great day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Merry Christmas Liz and everyone. Thank you for the up date on Tina. I hope she is feeling better and on th road to recovery.

The rain blew through here fast last night and we only got about a half an inch. We were under a tornado watch for a while. It's cold this morning so think I have to have gumbo for lunch. I have some in the freezer so don't have to make a big pot of gumbo. I tried to make a two potato salad abut it was a three potato salad. I try to make a little bit because I get tired of it before I finish it. Rachel Ray was on when I turned the TV on so watching her cook. Not that I would ever make some of the things she makes. My hair isn't too cute but she really needs to do something with her hair.

Someone posted a video of the traffic jam in Lafayette of people passing a house that is over the top decorated. It was hard to really see the house but I wouldn't get in that traffic jam. We use to have a house in Abbeville that was really decorated. I loved the RV in the yard with Mickey and Minnie in the front seats.

Rascal knows how to get his way. He wanted me to let him out and I was ignoring him so he started swinging from the curtain.

Barbie, your reindeer is so cute. There is a palm tree in my son's yard. I will have to see if they look like that.

My youngest daughter just dropped by in her mask and assured me she sanitizer her hands. She wanted to give me a gift and she took my gifts for the family. I’m listening to Christmas cds I collected for many years. Dean Martin still sounds good. Was feeling blah until I pictured Martha’s Rascal swinging on the curtain.

Just a note that staying under the covers didn't work this morning lol. Cloud cover is keeping the temperature down, still low 30's. Ty's been patient but we're off for a walk.

Merry Christmas eve!

Martha, I'm trying to give Rachel Ray some slack, since she's been cooking from home for many months, then In August their home burned to he ground, with she and John and the dog barely making it out with the clothes on their backs. If she hasn't been able to get hair styling, I forgive her, she's in same boat as tne rest of us. I never use her recipes but I appreciate her work. I watched several of her stories on the fire and she even did a tour with the local fire investigator pointing out that they had chimney cleaned twice a year, and still had a fire. They lost all her notebooks and writing from her start as well as much of Johns music writing. It reminded me of what Mel taught us as a family about baking up everything in multiple places when it came to photos and any written stuff you want to save. Judy, you have talked about your backups too.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone. I really do need to get up and going. It was 34 when I went to bed last night and it's cool inside this morning. Thermostat is up at far end of hall, so doesn't sense when my room is cool or warm.

I also appreciate the update on Tina.
Just dropping in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and an improved New Year from ice cold north AL.
No real news to report. Like most I have just been hunkered down trying to avoid the virus. Niece is currently quarantined. Test was negative but doctor thinks it was a false negative. She will be retested in a few days.
I am leaving in a few minutes to go to storage lot to check on Magic and run engine . Plans from there is hibernation and make a pot of soup.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!
