Mornin' Shirl & all that follow~~~

Same as Shirl on the Itty bitty news. Temp was 24° here in Georgetown Texas, but should hit mid 50s by noon. My toes are freezing :( Hope anyone that is shoveling all that snow in the NE has someone that can do it for them. I don't miss having to do that at all, so I'll deal with the cold.

Stay warm & stay safe.

I too dont have much news. Just running some errands while I am here. Changed my address again LOL to my permanent home. Then need to pick up a few things if I can find them. Shelves are sorely lacking for sure. Will be heading home tomorrow after my eye injection. I have my handyman coming this week so need to be there for sure. Taking a few more things back from my hotel room. Geez how did I get so much stuff LOL

Hope everyone in the snow and cold is keeping inside and warm. Hoping Tina has some good news for us one of these days.

Nothing much here, either. After opening the store every day this week I thought I'd easily get an early start driving to Pahrump. Hah! I'm not out of bed yet and Ty is in agreement lol. I'm intending to be up and on the way shortly because I really want to be back before dark. I'm actually arguing with myself about waiting a week or two. Yes, I'm lazy. I'll let you know what happens later. Haha, the suspense!

Yea, the sun is shining. The weather man had been saying we might have 2 nights of freezing temperatures but it only got down to 40 last night and it's up to 46. I went out without a jacket. Yesterday I was freezing when it was 49.

I got everything on my list for Walmart but forgot to put Christmas ornaments for my tree. I found some gold mardi gras beads so put them on it. I know I have more Christmas stuff but where?

Karen, it's been 15 years since Hurricane Rita and I'm still getting mail addressed to the old house number. We moved next door and they gave us a new house number. It's the 911 office that gives out house numbers and they have managed to mess up our road. That really confuses UPS and Fedx. I know the mail lady so the mail is usually ok. Good luck getting your address changed. lol

I don't know what I'll do today. I had ask my son to get me some ham hocks from one of the meat markets. I have his insurance card that needs to be in his vehicle. I might meet up with him to exchange the card for the ham hocks. Boy I lead an exciting life.

Good Morning. I’ve been trying to vacuum and dust but my heart just isn’t in it. Last night I received some depressing news. Missy’s dog Roxy has cancer. As you know Roxy has spent a lot of time with us. When Missy has her greenhouse open every spring in Mitchell and Roxy just wasn’t happy there she was here. And whenever Missy went on a vacation Roxy stayed with us. She was probably with us about 3 months a year. We always said I was her second mom and she was right a home to the point of hogging the bed. Right now plans are to keep her on her medication until they feel that her quality of life has declined or she exhibits that she is in pain. She’s still quite active but has lost weight. A couple of weeks ago she spent the day with me and I noticed that she tended to sleep more than usual and she wasn't the "treat" hog she normally is, but she's nine years old too. I’m really worried how losing her will affect Missy. Roxy was her husband’s sidekick and when he died suddenly 7 years ago I think it was Roxy who kept her going. That’s my news.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Rained here overnight! But just grey this morning. I had my recheck at eye surgeon/opthamologists yesterday. My eyes are both very close to 20/20 with slight residual astigmatism right eye. Not enough to try laser correction. Still have dry eye intermittently but I deal with that by having OTC drops in my pocket or on table near by all the time. I said to Dr, one of the problems is, even with glasses I never quite had 20/20 vision, so it's hard for me to judge what perfect is, but I'm pretty happy. And I've read that, with these specialized high tech PanOptix multifocal Toric IOLs, it can keep improving for as much as 3 years! She did offer me an appointment with the Optometrrst she works with in January to try a very low RX Toric pair of glasses to keep in car to reduce that astigmatism if it bothers me night driving. I don't just have the typical ring glare typical for multifical iOls , I have a main image and 2 shadow images of lights coming at me. That's only right eye and I can deal with it but she said Dr R can show me and I can judge if it would be something I wanted. I rarely am out at night so probably not, but I'll let her show me! I have only been out a few times since the SK procedure, so need more time to decide. So, I pretty much achieved my goal of 20/20 at all distances and am happy. These type lenses do require a bit more light to get image to the retina , but I'm ok sometimes grabbing a flashlight or turning on lamp for tiniest of print. Otherwise, I read, on phone or computer is easy because of the light, and with a lamp sometimes for on paper text. Sitting at computer is fine. All distance is great, well except now I find spider webs and dust bunnies that I could not see even with glasses! Now I actually have to clean them up! So, from (a week more than a year ago), barely 20/30 with severe astigmatism distortion ( liked to take off glasses at night and see the pretty starry glare from lights !) and everything with yellowish tint , having to turn on every light in the house to read anything, to, today 20/20 at all distances with bright vivid colors! Happy Camper here, looking forward to getting out in nature and being able to discern every detail of trees, birds and scenery! I had been leery about giving up my very nearsighted vision, where, if I could hold it close enough I could read very micro print, to now close up almost as good but everything else sight wise remarkably better. $6000 copay well worth it! Enough about me!
Tina hope you are improving day by day !
Judy, hope your bumps and bruises are healing.
Karen, I am amused, that while you horribly lost everything but your lives, that you and Emma now have extra stuff to move! So glad you are settling in to your new place. Travel safely!
Those dealing with snow ,remind me each time, why, when people asked when I was selling and moving to MN to be near other son, I answered shocked, OH he** NO , it snows there and is COLD!
I'm sitting here in bed procrastinating getting dressed and doing my daily 40 min on treadmil. I'm hearing crazy squirrels racing across my roof. It's the funniest sound and my cats sit here in the house and look back and forth at the ceiling, following the sounds! Yes, I'm sure it's squirrels, we have watched them outdoors playing on tne roof and rats are active only at night, while squirrels play during the day. People have asked am I sure they aren't in attic? Yes I am because I recheck possible entry points several times a year after a several years bout with Crazy squirrel Momma who kept ripping off vent screens to get in to raise her family! We finally foiled her with heavier mesh covers attached by a row of stainless steel screws, vs the staples the builder had used! Bedsides there is so much insulation in roof and trusses that there is no way anyone, even a squirrel could gain the momentum we hear from these running, rolling, playing acrobats?
Well, enough from me, off to the treadmill and rebounder! Then I need to wrap my sons gifts and get him set up to wrap!
Have a good day.

Hello Everybody from snow covered Hartford. My son just finished snowblowing the sidewalks and I noticed he kept going and did the neighbors’ on either side. Good man. I haven’t been home during the winter for the past six years. Now that I no longer ski or snowshoe there’s no fun in being outdoors in the cold. The snow is beautiful and I don’t need to drive anywhere, so I’m enjoying today. Peggy

I couldn't get to sleep until 4am. Once I did fall asleep, I slept until 11am. May need a nap later in the day.

My backside is feeling better today. :D Just a tiny bit sore now. I took off the larger bandage last night and put a small one on.

Need to clean up the house some today. Dave is coming over tomorrow to put together a cabinet I had bought last spring to put where the washer/dryer was. It is super heavy and has been in the box on my deck. I will help him put it together and move it in the house (with his wife's help too). Will be nice to have more storage in here.

It is overcast so far this morning but seems to be getting a little brighter now so maybe the sun will come out soon.

Need to do one more coat of paint on my plaque for the house name. That won't take long. Should be getting the lettering for it by Tuesday next week. My trim paint is in and ready to pick up at HD, so will go get that today.

What plans do you all have for Christmas this year? I will probably just make some spaghetti and get a Marie Calenders Chocolate Silk pie. I didn't even buy myself anything this year. :( That's OK. I am just happy to be in a nice home in a nice park, with no snow, being healthy, and having a healthy cat this year. :D

Have a good day!

Only news here is several inches of snow! If Alan is coming later to help put my propane tank in, I'll have to do some shoveling. :) Otherwise, I'll just go clear the Sling cover.

That's my itty bitty!

Think I need to whine a bit! Snow is deep here and I clocked almost 3 1/2 miles on my watch! And that was just doing my driveway and sidewalk plus my neighbors sidewalk. They sure picked a great time to go away for the month! There was a mountain of snow from the street plows that there was no way the blower would go through plus really heavy so even shoveling was out of the question. I caught the fellow that plows the church across the street and paid him $20 to break it open for me. So so worth it! My Subaru can get through a lot but no way would it go over that mess. I had trouble just finding the sidewalk to blow! Luckily the sun did come out so that helped melt some of it after I went over them. Don’t think I’m going anywhere for awhile. They had closed roads all over the place last night and into this morning. Okay, done whining! Lola is still covered with a blanket of the white stuff so I need to clean off what I can. The sun went away and the sky is gray again. No big problem I don’t think. They are saying just flurries maybe. So that’s my excitement for today! Stay safe and if you’re dealing with the snow, be careful. Oh, I told you all I got doggie steps for Rascal but so far he’s been refusing them even with treats. Last night I snapped a short leash on him and he went up onto the bed with no treats or coaxing! Go figure! Guess he respects the leash. We’ll see how he does tonight. Okay, I’m done! Have a good rest of the day.

Got all my errands done this morning. My friend that is also staying here, she and I are ordering some take out tonight so we will eat together. Not sure what yet will have to see who is open for take out.

I ordered a few things today that were on sale. Dont care if they get here before Christmas because they are for ME. Thanks to all of you being so generous I am able to buy many of the small necessities that I need around the house. My list is getting less and less tho whew.

Velda what I had in my storage unit was stuff out of my Motorhome and some winter coats and sweaters. LOL most of what I either didnt like or didnt fit. Nothing really of too much value. Dog crate, older dog beds, and Christmas stuff. Of which I only have my small fiber optic tree and Christmas vase in the house. Also my tow bar for the MH is in there still. Puzzles, some older picture albums, MH comforter. So at least it is something.

I made it to Pahrump and switched phones and phone plans. The very nice young woman convinced me to take unlimited data (only an extra $10/month from what I planned). The jokes on me because I got back and DO have phone service. I can make and receive phone calls and texts BUT I have no data service LOLOL. I may keep this plan because...

A couple minutes ago I got a knock on my door that the store is closed, probably until Wednesday the 23rd. Why? Because it's possible that two employees were exposed to someone with Covid one evening. No, I'm not one exposed directly, but it means it's possible if one of them has gotten it the rest of us could be exposed. I guess I shouldn't be more nervous than when the two different vendors at the Keystone store came down with it. But, for some reason I am. And I was just beginning to enjoy doing my job. Ty will be thrilled to have me home. I'll do some soul searching. We aren't laid off and will still have access to all our meals etc. Nothing more will be known until those two employees are tested and they have the results. The problem with soul searching is where and what would I do that would make me feel safer? Southern California is a real hotbed right now so I don't see Death Valley opening up soon. And I'm not sure many places are much better. I haven't been doing socializing. I've been wearing my mask and washing, etc. I just am feeling more overwhelmed this time. Enough. I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow.

I like all your news better today.

Tina, I hope each day is one step, even if it's small, forward from the last.
