Snowy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed Dec 16, 2020 10:43 am

Good morning all. The snow hasn’t started here yet but I’m as ready as I can be for it! Got my appointments out of the way yesterday and postponed my dental appointment I had for this afternoon until later date. Car went in the garage and there it’ll stay until this mess is over! I imagine I’ll be out a couple of times with the snowblower this afternoon and maybe later tonight. Sorry neighbors, I know it’s loud! I think the heaviest is forecasted to come down during late afternoon into nighttime. I knew we’d pay for 2 winters of little or no snow! Figured our time would come! Opps, just glanced out the window and it has started! Let the fun begin! So that’s my itty-bitty news for the day. A good day to bake something. Maybe I’ll finally get my cookies made that I said I wanted to make! Tina, hope you feel better each day. Have a good day all and stay safe.

Morning All, gloomy but no precipitation yet. Feeling under the weather this am. Guess driving for two hours and then PT yesterday aggravated a muscle. Think Advil, ice and rest will help. Did Sams pick up and planned to dash in the store for a coconut cake. The parking lot was packed and decided against going inside. Don’t want my tombstone to read “she died for a coconut cake”. Will bake my own, what else do I have to do. Be safe

Hooray! Pool opened late yesterday afternoon! I will be in to do water jogging as soon as the sun hits the water. The water is heated but I like the feel of the sun on my shoulders. Lyn

Oh, Lyn, so glad you got your pool back!
Snow sounds wonderful, unless you have to be out dealing with it!
I'm off to eye Dr shortly. Report later.
Hope we hear update on Tina soon.
Karen, glad you got the medical stuff handled.
Sun here but clouds to move in and rain later I think. We sure need it.
Have a good day all.

Sharon, I hope if you go out with the snowblower after dark you have your phone with you. I try to remember to bring my phone if I go out at night. If I fell and broke something I might be there all night.

Shirl, sorry you didn't get your cake. Look on line for a Coconut Poke Cake. They are good and easy but you would probably have to go get some of the ingredients. I don't do layer cakes, only flat pan or bundt.

Lyn, glad you got your pool back.

Sugar is barking in her sleep. She is probably dreaming of possums. lol

They fixed my house phone yesterday and the crank calls have started again.

I need to get my stuff together and go to the post office. It's still overcast and 49. I hate to have to wear a coat. I probably need to go get some dog food at Walmart.

Martha, I haven’t back a cake in years so you can bet this one won’t be a scratch cake. I buy one Sams coconut cake freeze slices and it lasts a year. It is so dark here that the dusk to dawn Christmas lights came on. I guess it’s still rain since I don’t hear squealing tires or screaming brakes. Called for first cup of hot chocolate this year. :P Posted recipe.

Round one of clearing the driveway and sidewalk is done. It was already deeper then I thought. Figured I’d work on it now since the worst is to come late tonight. May still go out later tonight for another round. Martha, thanks for the tip about carrying my phone. Not worried about that if I’m on the front sidewalk since I’m on a main road but deeper into the driveway and in back you’re so right. If something happened, there wouldn’t be anyone to see me. So again thanks for the tip!

Got the air in my tires checked and adjusted today, so stopped next door to get Target gift cards--no fees at all. They do have the Visa cards that DO have a fee, but I skipped those.

Knee is looking good, so not bandaging that any more. Ditto for elbow, but my ankle really had the skin scraped off, so keeping that covered and using antibiotic ointment on it. Still a lot of bruises and hard to get into and out of bed with bruise on my elbow. And now my shoulders and back are aching from the fall, but I will survive and all will be better in a few days. Lucky I was wearing my helmet, at least.

Camp hose says campground is shutting down on Friday, but he is not yet sure if those of us who are already here will be able to stay. Will find out tomorrow afternoon. Still, quite a few people have checked in yesterday and today. Will see what happens.

I love reading everyone's news, whether big or itty bitty.

We're making a mess at work, but it'll have a good outcome, I truly believe. So no one is complaining. Plus we so slow that this work keeps us busy and makes time go fast. Plus we've received an order of some souvenirs and postcards and that's my baby. I just started on it shortly before the end of my shift and my manager agreed that it'll be saved for me on my return Friday. It's a fun project and part of what I'm hired to do. In off tomorrow and going to take a run into Pahrump ... 90 miles one way... for a few things. Plus just to get away lol. I figure once a month or so it'll be a good get away. So that said, I was hoping them feeding me would help me lose weight. I haven't weighed myself but think that's not happening. The servings are too big, but I usually divide my meals up. I'm hardly snacking... Obviously I'm eating too much. Unless I see differently when I have the guts to get on the scale.

I put this under the wrong day so am moving it over here...

I didn't sleep very comfortably last night. Couldn't sleep on my back because of the proceedure done on my right butt cheek. Couldn't lay on my right because my butt still hurt on that side, and couldn't lay on my left because of my shoulder. So I was twisting around trying to find a comfortable position somehow. Now my back is sore from that. Still got a sore behind today. Still a bit swollen back there,

Went to my doctor for my shoulder and she thinks it is arthritis but wanted to get some x-rays done and then probably send me to PT. She said if the pain gets too much she will send me to an orthopedic specialist for a cortesone shot. I have had those before and I would need to be in an awful lot of pain to want to get another one! They are painful shots! :o

Then at 2pm the lady came by for my painting session. It was fun! You copy an outline of the back of an old truck and then paint it with watercolors (which I haven't used since I was a kid). Then I added some flowers to bed of the truck. Was a perfect day to sit outside and do that since the wind died down. Turned out pretty good. Will take a photo and post it. I think I will stick to acrylics. I don't care for the watercolors so much. But it was good to try it.

Gonna relax the rest of the day. Hopefully, my butt will feel better tomorrow so I can go do laundry. Bending over and lifting stuff uses the muscles back there and it hurts a little when I do that. I can remove the bandage tomorrow too.

Have a good evening!

Barbie, sorry about your sore butt, however it sounds like the painting was fun and successful

When I was on a bit ago I saw that Tina was on also. Tina, I hope our little nothings and itty bitty news is some comfort while you're, hopefully improving. Just know you are missed and we look forward to the day you feel up to posting again. Meantime, rest and heal and hopefully laugh at some of us.

A little welcome rain here. Looks like Northern California has a lot more than here , but nothing in Southern California at all.

The really scary part of my fall was laying where I could see the white edge line and knowing I was in traffic but could not move out of the way. Keep thinking about it. So glad my rescuers came quickly. The one guy said he saw me fall. I think I slipped on some gravel. Gravel is really dangerous. Also glad I had my helmet on!!!

Judy, I missed the post about your fall! Ouch! Glad you are healing up and it wasn't worse!

Hoping I can get some decent sleep tonight. Last night I had one of my friend's special brownies that I still had in the fridge. Ate a little bit too big of a piece and was really feeling great by the time I went to bed! Had some crazy dreams but it didn't help with my comfort level. Will take some 8 hour Ibuprofin tonight instead.
