10 Days Until Christmas

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

10 Days Until Christmas

Postby IrishIroamed » Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:19 am

Mornin' ladies~~~

Figured I'd get a Christmas count down started for those that may have shipping to do. None for me.

Moved to Georgetown, Texas yesterday. Today's Itty bitty news is I upgraded my truck. Went from an F-150 to an F-250. Pulled the trailer really well, but need to figure out a couple of things.

Homemade waffles for breakfast today. Help yourself!

Morning Cheryl, a clear weather day for my Sam’s pickup order. Doesn’t look like the shore will get much snow tomorrow. PT this afternoon. Tina, think of you with every appointment and hope you are moving forward. Know some days are better than others and it is frustrating. ((Hugs)). Thanks for the waffles, haven’t had them in ages. Be safe

Good Morning from chilly Southern Illinois. It is 23 and at 6:45 the sun is just beginning to come up. Now I can go outside and see what critter my little dogs caught or found this morning. Emma came in but the two little ones wound not come in so knew something was up. DH finally went out and Toby brought him a dead animal yet to be identified in the light of day! uggh He has caught rabbits and even a squirrel so no telling. I had a nerve racking day yesterday. Our bank decided to change it's system and EVERYONE had to re enroll. I worked until I was a wreck and posted my dissatisfaction on FB, other complained of how much time it took them. I finally posted my displeasure on the banks FB page along with the fact that you couldn't get through as all their lines were busy or you were cut off. Well, hooray for the power of social media around 5:15 a very nice man from the bank called to help me get enrolled. I told him I hadn't been able to get past the user name using the example in their video which said NOT to use a special character yet either way I tried it wasn't accepted. He admitted the example was wrong and that I did need a special character in the pass word. He also mention that he saw I was friends with someone he knew very well.?? So did he look through my friends on FB or ? I intend to ask today as he also couldn't get it set up and is going to call me back this afternoon! The reason I am so worried about this is I have automatic bill pay and they won't be paid unless I set them up again in their new system. Needless to say I am sure they are very busy helping angry customers. I was very nice but still expressed my dismay at their timing and the incorrect information. I also got his full name so if he doesn't call back I told him I'd call our mutual friend. :) I hate to try again as i was actually getting physically ill from the stress a very unusual reaction. I'll be prepared with a glass of wine. It is now light enough and the prey was a full grown rabbit DH threw it over the fence. Not sure if the dogs actually killed it or if it was left by another animal that fled when all three dogs raced outside.
I hope Tina is feeling better today. Congratulations Cheryl on your new truck it is a beauty!! I always buy white vehicles, cooler in summer.

Good morning Everybody,
Cheryl, you bought yourself a very nice Christmas gift. Enjoy

BJ, I could hear your frustration all the way to CT. I feel for the students who have difficulty maneuvering their on-line lessons. The internet is a wondrous thing when it all goes well, but extremely frustrating when it doesn’t.

Beth, I had to go back to my post to see what was so amusing. I had to laugh too. I have no idea what I actually typed, but was surprised to see that racy word was allowed!!! Good laugh, anyway...

Stove is being delivered this afternoon. Maybe some Christmas cookies in the future. Have a good day. Peggy

Darn Cheryl, I already ate my oatmeal. I have one of the mini waffle makers but haven't used it in a long time. I had figured out how much waffle mix to make for one mini waffle but didn't write it down. Congratulations on the new truck. Every time I ride in someone's new, fancy truck I want to trade mine in. I don't like to drive the truck so don't need a new one.

BJ, we have an exciting life. About a week ago a possum got into the back yard and Sugar killed it. I think it got in along the house and dog kennel. I saw a possum on the front porch a couple of nights ago and thought I need to fix it so another one can't get into the back yard. Last night I heard a commotion and went out. Sugar had another possum. He was playing possum and didn't look like he was bleeding. I picked him up by his tail and put him over the fence. I went out later and he was gone so hope he wasn't hurt. I think I know where a piece of fence is that I can block the way into the back yard.

I quit trying to get into my bank account on line. If you don't log in at least once a month they block you and you have to go into the bank to get it set back up. Because of all the hacking and crap I don't pay bills online and only have 3 payments drafted. I am careful about who I will send a check to because I don't want them to have the bank information.

I got my one package mailed but haven't addressed my Christmas cards yet. They probably end up being New Years cards. I finally cleaned off the end table and put the Christmas tree on it. I haven't found any ornaments yet. I put a Christmas rug under it and Pinky decided that would be a good place to sleep. I hope she doesn't push it off the table.

I am camping at the local state park with a couple of friends for New Years. I am cooking black-eyed peas. I wish I could find ham hocks to cook with them. The ones Walmart sells taste old. I don't really want to go to Lafayette looking for ham hocks. Harold use to bring me some from a meat market in another town. I'm not driving 50 miles for ham hocks.

Peggy, I need a good corkscrew because I break one just about every time I try to use one. My wine sits around for so long the corks stick to the bottle. I have a wine rack in the old house that I should use if I could find some place to put it where the cats couldn't turn it over.

It's 49 and overcast. There is a 50% chance of rain but I don't see where it's coming from.

Good morning! It’s going to be an interesting couple of days starting tomorrow. They’ve upped the prediction to a snowfall warning. I had a appointment for tomorrow afternoon but I called ad postponed it. It’s only a couple of miles from me but I figured I would put the car in the garage this afternoon and there it’ll stay until this is over. My biggest problem is that the snowplow piles up the mess from the road in front of my driveway as they plow the road. It’s heavy and almost impossible to shovel and the snowblower has trouble too. Once it really freezes my car just goes over it! Such excitement I don’t need or want but not much I can do except roll with it! Cheryl, enjoy your new truck. And Peggy, I had to go back and reread your post from yesterday. That was funny! Gotta love autocorrect! And a new stove today. That’ll be fun and cookies too! Win-win! I got my cards done yesterday so will drop them in the mail today so that’ll be about it for my getting ready for Christmas! Now I need to get ready for my running this afternoon. Not sure where the mornings go! Hope you all have a good day and stay safe wherever you are.

Good morning, I am down south at my hotel for a few days. Have things to do down here and it has been a while since I came back down. I am in my hotel suite, I got to sleep in a real bed last night. Felt good. Have eye doc appts on Wed and Friday then will head back north after I load a few more tubs in my SUV that I have in storage. I can sort the stuff out when I get the tubs back home. I have lots to donate but no time down here to start sorting.

Raining this morning but we need it so not a whole lot of complaining about it from me. Going out with my friend down here to get a few things for her new house....I told her good luck with that. She is just waiting to sign the escrow papers this week (hopefully) then the renovations begin. She is anxious to get out of the hotel too. But everything takes time, so much time. I will be getting my new toilets, sinks, and faucets this coming week. Also get rid of that ugly carpeting in the bathrooms with new vinyl. Then I will be on hiatus for a while. Then I can start buying the small much needed things for the house. Hopefully mattresses, bedroom set, and washer dryer first week of January............we shall see.

Good Morning, Cheryl, did you need more HP? Oh BJ, I can feel your frustration! Karen, your new home is lovely, and so large.
I continue to watch the Sapoy Hallmark movies just to see snow. Lyn

Not really. I was well under tow ratings on the F-150, but the transmission was just starting to show some problems from moving around so much. Would have lasted longer if I was only a weekend or vacation camper.

Good afternoon!

Snow overnight and flurries now!

I was ready for another productive day starting with outside chores. Sewer connecter has a crack! Argh! Right to Amazon - out of stock as were other vendors, but I found one. Yay! Not trusting propane gauges and regulator so have been watching closely, but clearly an empty tank this morning. Yay! Will tackle Christmas cards now so kids can pick them up to mail when they come to help with propane tank tomorrow.

Lyn, I've been watching those sappy movies and reading sappy Christmas books. :)
Cheryl, congrats on the new truck!
Karen, I picked out furniture online and items were out of stock a few weeks ago. Checked this morning and one at least is now available. Hoping I won't have the delays you are having.
Martha, Kansas daughter has had opossums hang around, but I haven't heard of her cats going for them. One built a house in the chicken coop a few years ago.
BJ, I can't imagine how many bank customers must be having issues from that description!
Tina, hang in there!

Be safe!

Karen, how is the town doing? There were a lot of commercial businesses that burned, as well as homes and apartments. I am guessing the town is a construction zone, right? Have businesses opened?

I usually shower late at night, but took one in the daylight this morning and noticed how dirty my shower was! This meant that as soon as I was done and dressed, I got out my cleaning rags and scrubbed at least the top part of the shower stall. Will work on the bottom part another day, but I was really surprised how much more you can see with brighter light! Probably also had not noticed it because of my poor closeup vision because I don't wear glasses in the shower!! Also, rolled over in bed last night and pulled a muscle in my back. Can't even sleep safely these days! Its not horribly sore, but goes into a spasm now whenever I move the wrong way.

ICU availability is 15.8% this morning. We are all on pins and needles because if it goes below 15%, the Bay Area shuts down, and I will probably have to leave Napa.

Any more news from Tina? I had that surgery, and it wasn't too bad because my symptoms had gotten better before the surgery. But Tina was really in pain and had a lot of problems going into it, so I imagine it will take a lot longer to feel better. Hope they are at least giving her enough pain meds.

Tina, I worry about you and hope things are looking up for you.

Judy, Steve & I are residing in Webster, FL, where we met for lunch last winter, when Peg was in the area. I hope we can get together again.

Thank you for all the support for my frustration with my bank. After another unsuccessful hour long attempt, I'm now the one trying to comfort the guy who is helping me! I offered to bring him some gummies :) I can't imagine what the anxiety level is there but I'm only feeling sympathy to the people trying to help me, yes now it seems to be a tech office wide challenge. I imagine they are wondering who thought this was a good idea!

Good evening gals!

I went in today to get my hormone pellets inserted in my butt cheek! :o The Novicain shot hurt but the rest of it I didn't feel much. I guess it was bleeding pretty good so he put a couple stitches on the incision. Will get them removed next week. Then will get another blood test in about 6 weeks to see what improvement there is in the hormone levels. He said I should notice some improvement soon and other symptoms will take longer to improve. I was shaky afterward but I think that was nerves. My blood pressure was up some from normal when I first got there (normally 90 over 50, was 110 over 70 today). I am feeling OK now. The Novacain is starting to wear off and I can feel the area is a bit sore but not too bad. I can ice it if needed.

Sunday, I was busy outside. Dave and Debbie came over and Dave put up my light fixture, horse painting, and metal flower in front. All looks nice! He worked on my bike too. I just need to fill up the tires and try it out. I bought the lattice for the deck but need to measure and cut it when I feel up to it. I should be getting the trim paint tomorrow so I can start on that soon too.

Yesterday I did nothing. I seem to have a pattern of being busy and motivated one day and then the next day I just can't do anything. This morning I went to play putter golf. The other lady I run it with is out of town this week so I was in charge. Not really much to do other than collect money ($1.25 from each player), write up the score cards and keep track of each players score for each hole. Only 4 of us today so not too difficult! I got out-played by the 90+ year olds again! I need to practice my putting! I missed quite a few really short putts today.

Was in the upper 60's, sunny and quite windy today. Felt good tho. Light sweater weather with the wind. I have a friend back in MN who has been playing golf all weekend! They have no snow right now and it is in the 50's so the courses are open still.

Tomorrow I have my appointment for my shoulder and then later I have a private painting class! There was a painting class here last week that was supposed to be on Thursday which I was planning to go to. But for some reason, they moved it back to the previous Sunday instead and I was working that day. So I missed the class. But the woman teaching it said she had one more painting kit and would come over to help me paint tomorrow. Should be fun. Will do it out in my driveway. Hope the wind dies down some. :?

I made tator tot hot dish yesterday but it didn't turn out too good. I opened a can of mixed veggies and they were all mushy so I threw them out and used a bag of frozen veggies instead. Not a good choice. They stayed hard and crunchy. Not a bad thing normally but doesn't work well in a hot dish. I did eat it but wasn't as good as usual.

Been emailing with my SIL in MN the past day or so. Some interesting things going on in the family back there. One of my cousins was wanting to have an affair with her which she wanted no part of (he is also married). Apparently he has had a thing for her for a long time. Then her ex-husband got Covid and was in the hospital near death. He did recover but is still on oxygen at home, probably for the rest of his life since his lungs are so badly damaged.

OK, I think I am caught up now...just gonna take it easy until I go to the doctor tomorrow.

PS> I did see a post from Tina on FB today so she is still kicking! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Anita, It was my dog that killed the possum. The cats and possums kind of ignore each other. The possums and raccoons clean up any leftover cat food when it gets dark. I put a piece of fence across the opening so hopefully another possum doesn't get in.

It was so gray and damp all day. The sun never did come out. It looks like we are going to get more rain tonight. Now they are predicting a freeze tomorrow night. Hopefully it won't freeze down here.

I got my Christmas cards addressed but I have to go to the post office to mail them. One is going to Canada and I don't know how much postage to put. My brother's wife sent me a picture of their tree and there was a Christmas scene with a fireplace on their TV. She told me it was a You Tube video with Christmas music so I pulled it up on my computer.

I finished the chicken lasagna today and I'm glad I only cooked half of it. I cut the shepards pie in half and it is defrosting in the refrigerator. That is not something I have ever cared for but not throwing away food.
