Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Morning All, wakey wakey, if I have to get up so do you, need someone to talk to. Coffee is hot and we can discuss breakfast. Still have balcony stuff cluttering the apartment so that is on to do list. Temperatures have really dropped here. I bought a Proven Winner Sweet Romance lavender plant that I have been trying to protect from the cold. It was expensive but my master plan was to start new plants from cuttings in the spring. It is a perfect plant and I wanted to give each family member a remembrance of me for their gardens. Suppose to be a tough plant in the ground but I’m concerned about survival in a pot. Sorry about rambling on, it’s early and that’s my thoughts , scary. Have a pick up order at Walmart today. Then I will be good to stay home for awhile except for PT. Be safe

Morning Shirl. Was up esrly, but just now getting on here. Already had breakfast, sorry. I think your potted plant should be okay, if you keep it inside where it’s warm.

I have my new router up and running, wasn’t much of anything involved to set it up. So that’s done. Drying my hair and then heading to town. Not sure what will be happening rest of day. Karen, I bought my mattes from one of our local Comfort Center stores. They were out of that one in their stock, but the store 20 miles away has it. Otherwise I may have had to wait too. Tina, glad things are going to move forward for you. I’m sure removing the gall bladder will certainly help.

That’s my itty bitty news for today. Have a nice dsy all and stay safe.

Good morning. Up, but not at em' yet. Have delivery of my tv stands and guest bedroom dresser today......but not without a tad bit of drama. Furniture store called to tell me the dresser was delivered to them but there is a dent in one of the drawers. They have ordered another one so wanted to know if I wanted to wait or they will just replace the drawer when it comes in. I said deliver it and bring me the drawer later. We shall see if there is any other damage if there is will tell them to take it back and I will just wait for the other one. Mattresses are on track to be delivered FRIDAY.....we shall see if any problems with that. I am becoming a tad bit cynical.

I'm playing find the wine this morning. I want to bring a bottle to the campout in case we have a wine tasting. In August I ordered 6 bottles of wine. I drank one of them and can find 2. What did I do with the other 3? I think I spend half my time looking for things. I lost the vacuum cleaner attachment from one room to another.

I'm making a rum cake to take to the campout. I didn't put the motorhome up when I got back Sunday and would like to wash it. We'll see if I can get that done today. There are a couple of things I forgot to get yesterday so might go to town again.

Good morning Everybody,
We can all sit down, share a cup of coffee with Shirl and chat. I have a fresh pineapple peeled and cut into pieces; now what to do with it. I like it fresh, but usually can’t eat it all before it starts to get funky, so... I looked on line and found two recipes using fresh pineapple one with rice and the other with quinoa. Of course I don’t have all the ingredients so I’ll
to venture out. Enjoy today. Peggy

Morning all! Peggy I love fresh pineapple, too. I grew up on the canned stuff and can still eat that, but the fresh is so much better! Martha, I lose so many things... Some don't turn up for a long time. And in the strangest places! Karen I might have asked for the dented drawer also .... Temporarily. And, yes, is go over it very carefully for other problems before accepting it. Years ago I purchased a sofa and loveseat in a brown color. One showed up chocolate brown, the other tan. The driver wouldn't take either back and I wouldn't sign. I eventually got two of the same color, but not the color I ordered, the wrong color. It had grown on me enough that when they offered the loveseat free (I'd already purchased on sale, so this was above and beyond that) I kept it. I did those over 20 years later when I went full-time. Martha, you mentioned rum cake. I just ate 1/2 a piece of the chocolate cake for breakfast.

Ty's been walked and I think we'll take a drive today.

My itty bitty news is that I survived the first cold night - depending on the which app I looked at, it was either 26 or 29 degrees. However, I got up to no water. Left water dripping but apparently not enough. Heated hose was fine so pretty sure the outside filter froze. Will cover it later.

Been playing with an Instacart order for a few days and think I'll give it try this afternoon.

Martha, I even search for things that are right in front of me! Peggy, I never cared for pineapple until I had fresh. Shirl, what a nice thought on the lavender plant. Years ago I got some grape smelling iris (the name escapes me) from my aunt in Kansas. We divided them and shared many times among family and friends here. I was always excited to come to Washington when my daughter's was in bloom. She left them behind when she divorced so need to find some for her.

Be well everyone - special thoughts for Tina.

Good news. Thankfully, the guy who came up for parole for the murder of my son was denied parole this morning and the term of the denial is five years. I’m surprised and very thankful. According to the system, if he doesn’t get into trouble, that time will he reduced to 2 1/2 years which happens very regularly. I’m going to try not to think about these 3 guys, but in the back of my mind I know it will be very likely that between Sept. 2022 and June 2023 all three will come up for parole again (unles one or more really screws up). The damage done by my son’s murder includes so much in addition to the pain of his loss.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

How do you make a rum cake, Martha? Sounds good.

Also, I was making copies of my elementary school mother's club cookbook and discovered that fresh pineapple and even the canned stuff only became easily obtained in the US in the 40s and 50s. What led me to this fact was that the little hand-typed recipe book had a ton of recipes for things made with pineapple!

Almost in Napa and still battling flies. I left Bakersfield this morning and stopped at two rest areas. I killed 20 flies in that one and then stopped later at another rest area and got another 15. I don't know how they are getting in, but at the second rest area I took out my trusty can of flying insect killer and sprayed all around the closed slides and the bottoms of the windows. But there don't seem to be the same level of flies here, except I still have maybe 2-3 flying around inside. Chased them and got maybe 10 of their relatives, but I gave up on the last couple. (Just got one.) Supposedly, the campground in Bakersfield was near several very large dairy cattle operations. I will not be going back there, to say the least!!!!

I've been using transparent window fly traps and they really do work. One on my rear window had six flies on it and the other one back there had three. Plus one on passenger's window had four. It takes a while, but they eventually catch the dumb flies that land on them. The "traps" are thin, flexible plastic with stick stuff you stick on a window. They are about 3" by 8" but I cut them in half. There are several brands on Amazon, so I ordered more to be delivered to my son's house so I don't have to go out shopping. No poison, so safe for pets. Look like these: https://www.amazon.com/Raid-Window-Trap-Count-Pack/dp/B01HU40E04

Sandi, I am elated for you. even if it's short term for now, hopefully the same thing will happen later. I'm so sorry you are constantly reliving this nightmare.

I woke up to a frost this morning in central Florida. It was colder here than our home in maryland. That's just wrong. Lol! Tomorrows low is only supposed to be 40. I can handle that.

Judy, we have relocated to webster Florida, the same town where you, Peg, Steve & I met for lunch last winter. Ocala is 36 miles north of us and we bought a lot in this resort, so no more rent.

we did lots of running around today, but when we got to walgreen's to pick up my prescription at 4:30 in the afternoon, there was a sign on the door that they were temporarily closed. I called them this evening and they'll reopen tomorrow, so we'll drive another 40 miles back to Ocala to pick that up. but Steve says we're retired and what else do we have to do. I love his positive attitude.

Sheila, I'm looking forward to your post...and whoever else posts!

Well, I didn't get my teeth cleaned this morning. Can anyone guess why not?? That's right, insurance issues!!
First, they had to call and get info on what my insurance covers. They were on hold for a half hour. Then they were told I have to wait for 12 months from when I got the insurance, to get the cleaning (from March when I got switched to the new insurance). I had gotten a letter awhile back from the new insurance company that because I was switched from the old one, that I did not have to wait the 12 months.

Also, apparently there are two kinds of cleaning. The normal free kind that I have always gotten, and the new expensive kind where they clean under the gums. That kind costs up to a $60 co-pay. The dentist was willing to just charge me $95 without insurance for today! But then because it took so long to get the information, I missed the time slot for my appointment so had to reschedule anyways. I got an appointment for the first week in January (as long as I can get approval from the insurance company to get it done).
What a load of crap!! I am SO sick of all these insurance problems!!

Nothing else went right this morning and I got a splitting headache, so when I got home, I took some Ibuprofin and took a long nap. Got nothing else done today. So two days wasted. :( Still have a headache tonight so will go to bed early. Back to work tomorrow...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

it is good news Sandi
I can loose things all the time... like keys to the trailer think I mentioned that last night... looked in my purse looked in the glove compartment looked in the don't know what it is called between the driver and passenger it can be set on not any any of those for some reason I found myself opening up the ash tray where I keep change and..... trailer keys I guess  so glad I have found them now on the truck key holder and tomorrow will try and get a copy of the trailer key so I have more than two keys... going to run into Blythe to Aces's and Smart and Final want to get some plants as well as the key copied... some stuff for chicken enchilada's
I had a planter with some old plants in it two years old was tired of them wanted new ones... so put it on the ground and the plant eating creature consumed the plants even to digging down into the planter to get the roots... :o
Anita are sure you want to make this year round decision??? that is so cold and I am saying it's cold here... didn't get overly warm just in the sixty's and down into the 40's but it's a brisk cold wind... and I would bet that you could fix the ice machine it's probably iced over in the back my sister's is doing a slushy ice cube she says that is probably why but it's expensive to get the people out to fix...I think she got a lemon of a frig anyway... seems to have had lots wrong with it...
my nephew texted me this AM to ask if I knew where the garbage can liners are... told him text his mom and told her that in my defense  it really wasn't me that took them out of the box and tossed the box away... I just moved them from the drawer he put them in to what I thought would be a better drawer... I don't get keeping boxes on the counters when the counters are taken up with all sorts of stuff anyway... it used to reside on the dryer which is just out the door into the garage all of about 10 feet from where they were on the counter...oh well... I went to put groceries away because of the disarray in the pantry couldn't put them away so shuffled stuff a bit put the stock in another cupboard when he can reach it easier and put stuff neatly away... it won't stay that way don't know why I even try to help I just get irritated ... and come home and look about to say your no better it's like the moat in the eye bit... mine is I just haven't gotten things put away which is on the agenda this week so I can put out Christmas decorations next week
I brought home from my sister's grocery bags... my mom is always complaining that she needs some (she uses them in the smaller can's) so I am going to stuff her box of whatever I get her this year with grocery bags...
well I have rattled on about nothing long enough..
Beth hopefully things will work out as you need them to...
thanks BJ for the information not sure what I will do but if it would work and Shadow would be in less pain and able to get around easier I think I would be willing to give it to him...
have a good day

Judy, I use the Bacardi Rum Cake Recipe which is online. It's easy because you use a yellow cake mix and a box of instant pudding. I cook it in a bundt pan. The only thing I do different is instead of taking the cake out of the pan and spooning the glaze on I put the glaze in the cake pan and let the cake soak it up. Less messy that way. Just don't leave it too long or it will be hard to get out of the pan. Sometimes I use 2 of the small bundt pans and make two small cakes.

Sheila, years ago everyone was making things to hold grocery bags. It's like a material tube with elastic around the top and bottom. You can put the grocery bags in the top and pull one out the bottom to use. I have one in my pantry and one in the motorhome. I use the grocery bags in the small trash cans. I use to see these things for sale at craft shows but haven' t seen one lately. You could make one for your mom.
