Early Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Early Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Nov 16, 2020 7:58 am

Morning All, I’m not an early riser, in fact hate early. What are you suppose to do when it’s dark. Still fighting health issues and my body doesn’t even know what year it is. Recovery is in the capable hands of my favorite physical therapist. Have enjoyed following furnishing a new house, building a casita and Beth’s new job. That’s my bitty news.

Shirl, I'm not a morning person either, but after trouble getting to sleep last night I was up long ago. Sleep was simply elusive. If I was smart I'd already have walked Ty and hooked up and gotten on the road. Instead I tried hard to get back to sleep. It'll be interesting how my body reacts to working again. And off I go to get myself moving.

I am definitely a morning person. I get my best work done after coffee, news and computer scanning. After lunch I am usually done. Today I will head back to my Medford hotel for the week. Have more tubs in my storage unit to go thru and bring stuff back. Also a couple of eye doc appts this week. I wont be leaving for a while tho as it is very foggy here this morning and also in Medford so will just let it warm up a bit and putter around here for a couple of hours. Dont like going over the 4 passes as the fog is always worse up there so hopefully it will thin out before I leave.

I have my security cameras hooked up and Alexa is alive and well in my house. I missed that gal. Got my wifi bulbs this week but havent hooked them up yet and my wifi plugs will be here today but I will be gone so will hook them up when I get back this weekend.

Throwing a load of clothes in so laundry will be done here. Need to bring my laundry basket that Laura gave me up here since I hope to be spending a little more time here than in the hotel. It is a nice big one, I love it. Things are coming together here slowly. I go to get something and then I realize I no longer have that LOL I bought a cheapy tool kit as I didnt even have a screwdriver. I will keep my eyes on the sales for a good all around tool kit with much better quality tools. There should be lots of sales soon so there are several things I am going to need. I have bought most of the big stuff (thank goodness for insurance) so then will need to buy lamps, bedding, kitchen, bathroom kind of things. Will leave the decorating til last ha ha

Shirl sure hope your physical therapists gets you on the mend soon. Irmi's casita will soon be there and I am excited to see it. Beth have a safe trip to Death Valley, I will be looking for pics. I really liked DV when Laura and I went there. Artists palate and Badwater Basin were awesome. We didnt get to Scottys Castle but maybe next time.

Mornin' ladies~~~
Shirl, sorry to read of your health problems, but physical therapy can work wonders. Beth, you'll get right back into work habits, since you just worked recently, just a new job to figure out. And Karen, it's been nice to read that things are slowly coming together for you, even under possibly the worst circumstance. Keep positive! Irmi are you moving to Florida permanently? Did I miss that? Glad the Casita is starting to take shape.

My itty bitty news is I'll be moving today towards Canyon Lake Texas to another COE park. First a stop in Boerne. I think a new/different WDS system is in store.

Have a great day ladies!

I am definitely NOT a morning person and never have been, but it is time to make state park reservations in Florida, so for the last couple of mornings I have had to get up at 4:45 am in order to be online at 5:00 am California time, or 8:00 am EST! I will get up, log on, try to one of the prime camping spots, and then go back to bed until a more reasonable hour. First morning there was only one site available, but it was right next to the ocean, so obviously another person wanted it also and he/she won. This morning I had better luck but with a site still in the beach loop but without quite as nice of a view of the other site. It is still just a couple of hundred feet walk from the ocean, however, and the campground is a long way from town, homes, or commercial places. Got this site at Fort Clinch state park for a full two weeks, October 16-29, so at least I won't have to get up for this so early for the next two weeks.

Florida, especially the prime parks, are VERY competitive, even with reservations opening 11 months ahead of time! Plus you have to pay full camping fees when you make your reservations. One good thing is that Florida will refund your money if you leave early, so that means you can overlap a little in case it takes a few tries for a spot. Next spot will be in Panhandle, where I was supposed to be before Covid-19 hit last spring.

I didn't do much yesterday. I missed the last round of the Masters tournament. It was apparently on early in the morning and over by noon. I didn't turn on the TV until 1pm and it was over already. Darn!

I did make chili. It turned out OK but not as good as I like it. Luckily just made a small batch this time.

I kind of got roped into working on the Putters golf committee. There is only one person here from last years committee so she needs help. Will meet with her tonight to see what I need to do. 70% of our league is Canadian so will be a small group tomorrow playing.

I think the noises I am hearing is from the AC. I think the air is blowing on the blinds or something to make that sound. It stops when I turn off the AC and starts when I turn it back on. It isn't coming from the units themselves but from across the room. Am glad it isn't critters after all!

Have a good day. :D

I don't want to be a morning person but looks like I am more than I like. Between having to go to the bathroom and the cats and dog deciding when I should get up. I needed to go to the bank to sign some papers so only drank one cup of coffee and went to town. If I drink my usual amount of coffee I spend all morning looking for a bathroom. I will be so glad when the lawyer gets finished with the estate.

Judy, it's a good thing I don't have to make reservations 11 months out or I would be out of luck. I'm not that organized. I don't like it that I have to make reservations at all. I started camping when you didn't have to do that. I use to head out across country and stop when I felt like it.

Cheryl, It's been a while since I've been to Canyon Lake. A friend posted a picture recently and there isn't much lake left. What is a WDS system?

I noticed on the way to town that some of the farmers are pumping water into the rice fields. A lot of farmers use the rice fields to fish for crawfish after the rice is cut. It has been too hot to put the traps out but we are having cooler weather. Almost time to eat boiled crawfish. :D

It is cool in the house and I was looking for a flannel shirt to put on. I bought 2 flannel shirts at Good Will last year and I can't find either one. I don't know what I do with stuff.

I'm not a morning person either, which is probably why I liked night shift ! I love being retired so i can choose my get up time and stay in bed a while and catch up on here and Facebook. I do all I can to avoid early appointments!
My eye is still blurry, so forgve any typos. It's better but only a little. I'll be happier once contact lens bandage comes out Friday.
Went to Curves and had a good workout.
Sean, the handyman was here when I got home, finishing tne side fence and gate. Be good to have that side enclosed again.
Our stupid Governor has done it again. He would rather party at The French Laubdry restaurant and ask forgiveness later, than be a good example. So in midst of that flap, he puts 41 counties back to his purple level, stay home ! Shutting down many places just in time for thanksgiving. our county is included! Not happy.
I'm glad I don't have to reserve in advance, I'm more a spontaneous gal.
Have a good day and week everyone!

Hi ladies!

I guess I'm among the few morning people here. I attribute that to working all my life and having to get up early.

Cheryl, we are having a casita delivered to our lot in FL tomorrow. It's small, just 12 x 32 ft and our motorhome is on the same property, so just more living space. but we're very excited about it and then having the inside completed.

martha, WDS is weight distribution system. Folks that tow need to be concerned about that, especially Cheryl, since she tows a travel trailer..

It's still warm in FL but tomorrow we will only be in the mid 70's, but at least it will be dry. we bought an almost 8 lb ham today and it is cooking for dinner. In a few days leftover meat and bone will turn into soup.

Martha~ What Irmi said. The weight distribution system does exactly that, distributes the weight thru the truck frame so it's not all on the hitch. Also helps with keeping the trailer level for towing. If you see a trailer nose up or down, it's not adjusted correctly. Keeps the trailer from porposing and the trucks traction control auto adjusts to slow the truck and trailer if it starts to fish tail. I've only had that happen a couple of times due to windbut can also happen because of driving like an idiot, but I keep my speed to what my trailer tires are rated. More than you want to know probably lol.

Yes, Canyon Lake does look to be very low based on what I can see. Maybe 10-15 feet, but that's only a guesstimate.

HI all,

I'm definitely a morning person - probably due to wanting to be at work early to get a jump on the day. I still like to get up early. By evening I'm beat though.

Good news on my end. :D My French SIL had his naturalization interview today & became a USA citizen. They had the interview & since all was good, they swore him in as a citizen immediately. No big ceremonies right now. Unfortunately my daughter had to wait outside but she said the officer who was letting people in, came out to give her updates occassionally. She said everyone was very, very nice & encouraging. They are extremely happy to have this process complete. We will have a very thankful Thanksgiving next week.

Judy, I hate having to make reservations - for anything. I, too, am more of a spur of the moment person. I'm not sure I'd do well having to figure out where I'd be 11 months in advance if I was on the road. Heck, I didn't even like booking hotels for my last road trip -- just in case I wasn't ready to stop for the day or maybe was tired & wanted to stop early.

That's my news for the day.
Take care,
Catherine

I'm in Kingman, AZ at an rv park. I didn't have a reservation, had no clue where I'd end up. I made my reservation for the last two nights an hour before arriving at that county park. I called here 20 minutes out. I can't plan any further in advance because I change what I'm doing constantly. I intended to boondock but actually didn't like one of the places I thought about staying so, that's when I looked online for parks here and called. I considered driving to Pahrump today but didn't sleep well last night so decided to get off the road. I'll try for a spot at the Escapees park there tomorrow. They don't take reservations and I'm good with one of their dry camping spots if regular sites aren't available.

An update on my solar... I do believe a connection somehow got disconnected, but it isn't readily apparent to me. That said, the panels are still sending to the batteries. I just can't see the input and output, as that's what isn't working. If I was boondocking all winter, I'd get that looked at right away. For occasional boondocking I'm good and will have it looked at eventually. That monitor might have just gone bad, too.

Catherine, great news on the citizenship.

I know making reservations is a pain, but for my efforts, I got two weeks with a view of the Atlantic ocean and about 100' from the walkway to the beach and water--all for $26 per night! All are water and electric sites, with a bathhouse containing a washer and dryer--right in the middle of the 21 RV sites that circle the bathhouse. Good satellite signal, good Verizon for internet, a drop-dead gorgeous state park with a mile of private beach and a long oak canopy roadway entrance. And I can ride my bike to the town of Fernanda Beach so I can enjoy the shops and seafood restaurants. And I seldom plan on traveling very many miles each day, so I can stop places on the spur of the moment. Plus, Florida refunds your money if you leave a site early, so nothing ventured.

Next reservation will be at East Bank COE campground for maybe a week at $13 per night in Georgia near the Florida Panhandle and then two weeks at Henderson Beach SP near Destin, FL. It is a little more expensive, but right on the Gulf of Mexico. If I am traveling through to someplace, I don't care where I stay, but if I am planning a couple of weeks somewhere, I want to make early reservations and get a great spot where I can stay for the maximum.

To each his own, but I like the security of knowing where I am going to be. I have been known to change my mind, but for now, I am really looking forward to Florida, in fall 2021.
