Stay here Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Stay here Saturday

Postby asirimarco » Sat Nov 14, 2020 9:36 am

Good Morning to All - Well we were supposed to be crossing the border into Mexico this morning, but will be spending a day or two longer in Amado, AZ. We are having problems with our generator. The RV mechanic was here yesterday and worked on it for a couple of hours. He had thought it was just gummed up. At least now it will turn on but sounds like an old cho cho train chug chug chug. Not good. He ordered a doohickey thing a ma bob that is on the bottom part of the generator and hopefully he will get it some time today. Then he'll come back and install it either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. He is a really nice guy to come out on Sunday from Tucson! So we'll be here until Monday morning at least. And Monday is a BIG holiday in Mexico so not sure we want to travel that day. Also not really sure the thing a ma bob is really the problem. Such fun. At least it warming up here.
Right now 7 a.m. it is only 40 out But the days are warming up quite a bit so Bill is feeling happier. Later we will take a drive some where, any where just to get out of here.
Have a full pot of fresh coffee and some pastries - help yourselves.
Everyone stay safe and enjoy your travels if on the road.

Morning Carol. Sorry your generator problems are holding you up. But thankful you found a good mobile rv mechanic. I just have a few things to do here to head out sometime later this morning. I'm just waiting for it to get a bit warmer. And today will be a short drive just into Tucson. I'll boondock and run my own generator, etc to make sure all systems are a go. Then fill up on gas whether I need it or not as I'll probably not see any gas prices lower on this trip. My car hasn't been filled since SD! And still has over 1/2 a tank. But it'll get filled also. Depending on how busy the gas pumps are at Sam's club, I may unhook to do the fills, especially since my cars gas is on the other side anyway.

Happy Saturday!

I was not happy early this morning. I could hear shooting and Sugar was barking at the noise. Probably duck hunters. I'm not moving very fast and still drinking coffee. It looks like it will be another warm day. Yesterday the weather man said that Nov. 13, 2019 was the coldest day in 2019 here. The high yesterday was 96. That's Louisiana weather. I remember having to wrap all the outside faucets and worrying about freezing. I probably need to get some more insulation before the next freeze. The cats like to sharpen their claws on the insulation so it doesn't last. I need to ask my neighbor what I need to do about the well. There was a tarp around the tank but all the storms have torn it up. I would like to put one of those Rubbermaid sheds over it but I think the tank is probably too tall.

The gas prices have been jumping around here. When I got gas at Sam's Thursday it was $1.59. Gas at Walmart had been $1.69 and yesterday I noticed that it was up to $1.89. My generator is not very reliable. It will run ok for an hour or two and then starts surging. If it doesn't die I turn it off. I had it worked on sometime this year. Have a good trip Beth.

Guess the outside cats would like me to get dressed and go feed.

Hi Carol, beth, martha & everyone!

Carol, I hope the thing-a -ma-bob for your generator is what you actually need. I'll check in tomorrow to see what the results are after it's installed.

beth, those are some great gas prices. Get it while the getting is good.

martha, we didn't get as warm in central FL yesterday as you did. we were only in the mid 80's.

The concrete pad for our casita was poured this morning. The lower portion of the concrete in the back will be where porch/pergola will be built. The building in the background is the clubhouse. The gym, mailroom, office, and grand room are all in the same building.

I think the couple who washed/waxed my rig yesterday disconnected something to do with my solar. I'm sure it was accidental, but I'm hoping the solar is still connected to the batteries and it's just the screen telling me the input and output that's not working. I know I won't need the solar at DV, but I'm boondocking tonight and now reconsidering whether I'll do much boondocking on this journey. I am splurging already tomorrow on a site at one of the Maricopa County parks. I've never visited this one before. I'm here now, but in one of their overflow sites. I'm in a sundress but will put on long pants tomorrow and go on the roof and see if anything looks wrong to me. I don't know that I'll have an opportunity to get anything fixed in the next few days. I know it was working yesterday, didn't notice it wasn't until I stopped for the day today. It's always something. But I must say this is the system I had on my old rig and this rig will be 7 in the spring. So it's worked like a charm all this time. I'm spoiled by it.

I didn't stay in Tucson... Seemed silly to when I got going fairly early today. I'm glad to be through the Phoenix traffic and hope that's the last bad traffic I'll see. I think I'm bypassing Vegas, but I'll discover soon enough lol

Irmi this is so exciting. Do you know what the square footage of your casita will be? I love seeing this as it's happening. I love that you have those bushes giving some privacy, too. Now we have to get Karen to post pictures, too.

well shoot, beth. I hope you find the issue with your solar and that it will be an easy fix.

The living space of the casita is 12 feet by 32 feet which equals 384 square feet. The porch/pergola will be built behind the casita & will have a roof over it and electric. I can't wait to post pictures next week after the casita is delivered.

Judy got here about 11:30. I took her for a tour in my golf cart around the park. We stopped to see Candiss's place and also a Open House on my street, just to show here different floor plans of park models. All park models are so different from each other which is nice. Then we ordered some lunch. She got to meet Lola and my next door neighbors. Also gave her a haircut on my patio. We had a nice visit.

Just relaxing tonight. Should start making my chili or at least get the hamburger cooked. My shoulders and lower back are feeling better today.

Irmi, your casita will be just a few feet smaller than my house. My park model is 10 X 40 ft (400 sq ft). I am sure you are very excited to get it in place and ready to use.

I really enjoyed my visit with Barbie. I am now 77 and have been thinking of some options for my "retirement" from RVing. I am hoping it won't be for a few more years, but I have to accept that some things are getting harder for me to do. And I really like the idea of a smaller place, as opposed to a larger place. It would be easier to clean and get around in, so that is why I wanted to see Barbie's place. I think she made a really good decision when she bought her place, especially since she bought the land also. Good security knowing someone cannot keep raising the rent on you. I am going to keep looking and thinking about options, however.

I was surprised that Lola is so small. My Napa son has an elderly small cat about that size, but made a mistake (in my opinion) about 4 years ago when they got two kittens who turned out to be about double the elderly cat's size. The result is they picked on her, so now she lives in my grandson's room--mostly hiding under the bed.

Very good sub sandwiches for lunch, but they were HUGE. I just finished eating the rest of the half I had started and still have another half for tomorrow. And I washed my RV when I got back, but boy did that wear me out. I have some arthritis in my left shoulder, so now it is really really sore. Tomorrow I head to San Onfre Campground near Capistrano. Will be visiting my co-POA and putting some things in the safety deposit box. I found my aunt and uncle's original marriage license, her birth certificate, etc. and I don't like keeping that stuff with me.

not sure if I posted last night on Thursday  or it went poof but it's not there .... and who remembers yesterday???
I go back and reread just to see what I wrote... couldn't find it on Friday's not going to look any further...
it was actually warmer today just worn a top instead of a sweatshirt ect... now tonight back into the sweatshirt... and will probably turn the heat on soon... as it's down under 70 degree's
I bet Barbie you and Judy had a good time...
went looking for a battery powered radio here in town couldn't be found... it's very quite with no tv or radio when I don't have power... I run the radio during the day on electricity solar keeps up with it... but once the sun goes down I don't use it till the generator is on then run the radio while it's running then off it goes so would really like to have the battery part working... I know I can do an app on the phone but for some reason it's showing storage is low... so I am sure it wouldn't allow any new app to be install and then again I am back to needing to charge the phone... so seems like to me the battery powered radio is the best option and figure out how to put stuff on the sim's card... not sure what is different as I haven't taken many pictures... not playing games so not adding to them... and thought the coloring pages might be it but not finding complete ones just the ones I've not finished... baffles me... I am so not a techy
as today I got dishes done sat outside a bit and that's about it
saw a loose pet goat coming home yesterday hope it found it's way home
drive safe Beth... will miss visiting with you this year
you all have a good day

If Judy thinks Lola is small now, she should have seen here 6 months ago when she was skin and bones and barely 5 pounds! She is back to where she should be close to 10 pounds.

Just about to go to bed. Nothing on TV. I keep hearing faint scratching noises. Only when I am in the living room tho. I listened from the kitchen and bedroom and checked on the porch and outside but didn't hear it in those places. I don't think an animal could get under the house (unlike my old house!), so not sure what is causing it. Lola is right here with me and there is no wind outside tonight either. :?

Good night! :D
