Thursday after storm eta

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday after storm eta

Good morning ladies! we survived the storm but there were times things got a little bumpy around here. I don't know how much rain we got but the ponds here are quite swollen. The storm is gone and by this afternoon, it will be dryer and calmer. So with a little luck, we will be able to grill the meat for our dinner this evening.

The concrete pad for our casita is supposed to be poured Saturday, so I'll post a picture of that in a later post.

enjoy your day!

Good morning Irmi, and all who follow. It's a very bright California morning! I'm so glad you came through the storm ok, Irmi, and I hope we will hear similar from others in the storms path.
My second SK eye procedure proceeded as expected yesterday. The good news was my left eye has improved by 3 lines on their test chart. Hopefully I'll get similar in this right eye with the next month of healing. My eye hurt some yesterday, but a single Aleve took care of that. Now it's just stick to the routine of drops and let it heal. I'm surprised how well I can see already, but know last time second day inflammation peaked and therefore it may be blurrier tomorrow before that starts getting better.
Hope all of you have a good day.

Greetings Irmi and Velma and all who follow from a gray, but still warm CT. Happy to hear that Eta passed with little damage. Hope your eye sight continues to improve, Velma.

Beth, enjoy your time at Death Valley. I attended a 49ners reenactment and had a great time. Lots of good music.

I’m trying a new recipe (Pumpkin- Ginger Sorbet). That’s my itty bitty news. Keep wearing your mask a while longer. Peggy

It is a good morning at my house today. I had my furniture delivered and set up yesterday. YAY Spectrum was also here and got my tv's all set up and internet is working. So life is good. I really like thr furniture so no buyers remorse ha ha I have 1 bed set up in the guest room (I call it Laura's room hah). I just dont have any mattresses or my bedroom set from Ashleys yet. Oh well all in good time. I will be heading back to Medford on Monday as I have doc appts for my eyes. Then will bring back some more stuff. I dont have a big car so only a couple of big tubs fit in there but room for a few smaller ones. Bought a comforter and some sheets yesterday for the guest room. I am slowly acquiring stuff I sure didnt know I missed until I dont have it. Next project will be to look for a couple of bedroom lamps and living room lamps. I have 2 pole lamps so now need table lamps,

Glad you all escaped too much damage from Eta but I see there are a few issues brewing still. Hopefully they turn into nothing major. Velda good news on the eyes, hopefully all continues in the right direction. Will be waiting to see the progress at Irmi's place. So exciting.

No plans for today just will be puttering around here.

Good afternoon!

Irmi, so glad you didn't get worse from the storm. Velda, good news about your vision! story reminds me of a cataract patient about 50 years ago whose vision was bad after surgery in one eye. The doctor I worked for was pretty concerned. Then one day her vision was clear!

Karen, I haven't bought furniture in many years. When I started looking online imagine my surprise when my country oak isn't big anymore. A friend just had an online Pampered Chef party. I couldn't believe all the changes in the kitchen things as well.

Peggy, not warm here! :) I took the Sling for one more big grocery run yesterday and it is now parked for the winter. I thought I could handle disconnecting and reconnecting the hose as weather dictated. Decided that was ridiculous and ordered a heated drinking hose this morning.

Lyn, I worry that when I do get into the apartment, the amenities will be shut down due to Covid. I'm looking forward to the fitness center.

Be safe!

I went and got my hair cut this morning and it looks so much better. I was afraid they were going to lock down the beauty shops again before I got in. Went to Lafayette and gave blood. My hemoglobin is 14.4, up from 12 the last time I tried to donate. I need to do a better job of remembering to take my vitamins. Now they can't call me until next year. The daiquiri place has eggnog again. I'm not suppose to drink alcohol today but picked up a cup to put in the refrigerator.

Irmi, glad you didn't have damage from the storm. The weather channel was showing flooding but I don't know where. We are having another warm day, it's 96. I should pack up and go to the lake. There were campers headed South to the state park. Saturday is the monthly dutch oven cooking.

Karen, guess you are glad you don't have to sit in the camping chair anymore. When I evacuate to my son's I have to bring a camping chair with me. At least I have a bed when I'm there.

If the utility trailer wasn't still up on the hill I would go mow. I'm going to have to get the neighbor to get it down with his tractor. I don't think I can get close enough to it with the truck.

Tomorrow is trash day so need to see if there is anything else I can throw away.

Afternoon all. I'm so glad the storm wasn't worse and hope this is finally the end of this season for you if you. Irmi and Karen, I love all updates from both of you preparing your new places. Velda your update on your eyes is great.

I spent the morning working outside and did as much as I intend to. The landscaping department has taken a few of my cactuses and I have them permission to take a few more. Most likely that'll happen after I leave. I personally filled 3 bags with weeds and ugly or dying parts of cactus. Then there was more to big to fit in the bags. I must have picked a good day to do it because landscaping also had someone going around and collecting everything. I guess I need to learn about these perks.

I've also done some laundry and am most of the way in moving everything from the casita fridge to the rv. A little more to go. I should get to it before temps start back down.

Had a pretty good day. Lined a few more shelves but ran out of shelving paper...of course. Did a good thorough vacuuming job of my bedroom. Easy as nothing in it LOL But I am still picking up alot little carpet bits along the edges of the carpeting. I also ran the robot vacuum in the living and family room. Went over and helped my old neighbor (the one who lives in my park now). He has to buy a new heat pump and was having trouble figuring out how to pay for it on the email they sent. We got er done. Love spending someone elses money for a change.

Laura brought me an Echo dot that she doesnt use and I set it up today...........Oh I how I missed Alexa. I have now ordered my bulbs and plugs so I will be back in business soon. I also need to put up my security Blink cameras but we are going to have a big storm heading our way so will just wait for a better day. I still need to hook up my sound bar so might do that tomorrow. I need to buy a couple of tv stands so I can take the one off my desk, and the other off my camping trailer. It is interesting how I go to get something and then remember I dont have that anymore. I tell ya it is the little things in life. I keep making lists...then promptly lose them BUT now I have Alexa to help me out. She is going to remind me to take the garbage out at 8pm.....I love this gal.

I lost my first post...

Got up late but then got back outside and cleaned out my car and worked on the rest of the outside stuff. Lots of dirt, dust and debris to clean up, hosing and wiping everything off. Took a large load of stuff to the dumpster. Still have a little bit left to finish in the morning. It is looking pretty good around here now. No more trailer trash! I have a few small projects I want to do outside yet but those can wait until next week or so. I need to pick up some flowers and tomato plants. I have a planter box I want to put on the deck railing with faux flowers in it, and put up some white lattice around the deck railings. I think I will paint the small table and chairs in front in teal color. It is blue now but doesn't really match good with the teal on the shed and house. Hopefully, I will get the trim painted in the next couple weeks.

Tonight, just gonna relax and get to bed early. :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

on the way to Blythe today I stopped here at the dumpster... right now they only have the one huge one suppose to drive up this ramp and then you get out and put your garbage in the dumpster...I walked up it seemed way safer... they seem to go over time in making things harder... would love to just have the smaller dumpsters...
hopefully if more people come they will had some of the smaller ones...
they did a really good job fixing the wash that was damaged in a flash flood... hopefully when there is another flash flood it won't undo what they did to fix it...
glad Velda that your eyes are doing better
and what fun Karen to make your new to you house into a home... Irmi I bet it's just exciting to watch it all get put up.
Sounds like Beth everything is getting ready for your new adventures...
picked up a rotisserie chicken today was dismayed not one in the warmer so asked the checker she checked and 20 min wait so went and got some ice cream and waited they brought it to my truck when it was ready... it was still super hot when I got home... so as I took it off the bones pieced on it a bit... then had cereal for supper  was going to add some chicken to a salad but decided I wasn't in the mood for salad...or sandwich, was going to call my mom tonight but forgot will try and remember tomorrow...
you all have a good day
