Terrific Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Terrific Tuesday

Postby asirimarco » Tue Nov 10, 2020 10:16 am

Good Morning to all. Surprised to see no one has posted. I slept in this morning and woke up feeling great. Nothing was out of sorts. AND the sun is bright in the blue sky. Still cold though. When I got up Bill went right back to bed. No idea what is going on. Hope he was just cold and not not feeling good.
Plenty of hot coffee and Panatone here not sure of the spelling - the Italian Fruit Bread. Looks like it will be a pretty but cold day. No plans to do anything. We went to WalMart yesterday afternoon, paper goods shelves were empty! Then called in a take out order to Denny's - we both wanted a full meal. I got turkey dinner and Bill got a sizzling chicken skillet. As it turned out we probably could have eaten it there - only one table with people, all booths separated by plexiglass shields. But took it home and it was still nice and warm when we got here and ate.
So not much going on - waiting for repairman to return to fix the generator and check out the hot water heater, wont come on. Still want to go to Mexico to get all our paper work done so when we start down with the RV we won't have to stop.
Also waiting to hear from our doctor letting us know both of our infections are cleared up or not. So sick of doctors. We go in feeling great and come out with things wrong with us we didn't even know about. Sometimes I think he just likes to find things wrong.
Every one take care and enjoy your self. Stay safe.

Just a warning, Cheryl, keeping up with the Medicare changes, especially part d, is a pain in the butt, too. I changed both my part d and supplement policy last year and an changing part d again this year. Thank goodness for Boomer Benefits when it comes to help with my supplement plan.

As Carol said, very chilly this morning. But we'll get into the mid 60's today and back into the 70's tomorrow.

Good morning gals!

The other painter stopped by this morning. I showed him what I need and he will do it for $100.

Slow so far at work today, but tomorrow, being Veterans Day, we are doing free haircuts on all vets, so it will be busy.

Was nice to see snow on the mountains this morning. So glad I can look at it from afar!

I am very sore today from all the work I did yesterday. My shoulders and lower back hurt. I wish our hot tubs were open so I could sit in there and soak.

Have a good day and stay warm.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hello Everybody from another beautiful day, CT

Cheryl, I think Fredericksburg is the place where I visited the Museum of Western Art. If it’s open, I recommend a visit.

I’m outside in my car waiting to be called into my dentist’s office for a three o’clock appt. deep cleaning on a tooth...
That’a My itty bitty news. Enjoy today Peggy

Not Morning but lose enough. Went to library on the scooter. Clear, cool and bright sunshiny day. One of our famous WW2 admirals was from Fredericksburg, however, I can’t remember which one right now.
I lost another week of football. I have 4 men hurt and out. My big point getters.
We had some showers over the weekend. Nothing much.
I cantinue watching the men work on the pool. Don’t think it will be finished in the 2 months they promised.
My daughter was elected president of the HOA.
Can’t get up to 2 liters of liquid per day. Between 1 and 1500. I will keep trying.
Gads, what a boring life!!!

Peggy~I went there last year when I stayed in Kerrville. I did really enjoy it.

I know you are, Cheryl. I just didn't expect the headaches associated with it.

OK, my news. I cancelled Yuma and I know they are upset with me. I just told them personal reasons. At least I am not a no show. And ....

I'm in final negotiations for a job in Death Valley National Park with a year plus commitment. I know, crazy, remote location, and HOT summers, but I'm excited about it. I'll be working at a store in Stovepipe Village.. let's see, village is a loose designation lol. We started talking about me workamping as a store clerk. They changed the offer to Inventory Specialist and $2 more an hour. It includes my site with wifi and cable TV. Cell service will work. And I'll be charged $32.50 every two weeks for meals in the employee dining room... That's a deal at 3 meals a day every day! I can't cook that inexpensively. That's because a real grocery store or Walmart is 1 1/2 hours away. I figure it might be able to help me lose weight and save money. Hopefully. I probably won't make breakfast often, but you never know. And I can always cook if I want to. If the food is good I might get very spoiled.

I'm just waiting on word that my background check passed. They always do, but nothing's definite until I hear it has. Then I'll leave this weekend and start work a week from Friday.

Sorry, Sheila, I'll miss you and Q, but this is something I'm excited about, even with the temps next summer lol I know, you'll all remind me I said that then lol.

Congratulations Beth. Most employers would be smart to snap you up. You have a depth and breadth of retail and customer service experience that is in demand. Sort of neat to try branching out to the National Park Service no matter where it is. Maybe I have read too many Nevada Barr novels......

Not much going on today. I decided to go to Walmart and get what was on my list and go by the hospital to see about giving blood. The blood service bus was there but they had shut down at 2:00. They call me every other day about giving blood. I told the woman yesterday that I don't go to Lafayette. I didn't much like the idea of going to the bus either.

It turns out that dressing like a cajun is like dressing like a hobo with white shrimpers rubber boots. lol I was talking to my sister about it and she said she could bring me some overalls. No thanks.

Velda, I feel your pain with the cat throwing up. It happens too often here. If one doesn't throw up on the bed they try to make it to a rug. Don't throw up on the tile where it would be easy to clean up. I put some waterproof pads under the sheet to keep from having to wash the mattress cover too. I put an old waterproof mattress cover over the other bed so I don't have to wash all that too.

Barbie, that's strange that paint samples aren't really paint. Looks like they would tell you that.

Lyn, it's Admiral Nimitz that's from Fredericksburg. We were there for a horse show years ago and passed his museum. Don't know if it's still there, that was probably 30 years ago. Drinking 2 liters sounds like a lot. I probably don't drink enough everyday and seldom drink just water.

Beth, hope the job works out.

I finally got around to making the chocolate banana bread. It's very good. I used a german chocolate cake mix.

Thank you, Tina. I was only thinking a season. They asked if I'd consider a year. I said if stayed through summer I'd agree on a second winter. They said, we'll make you an employee. Then they started talking this other job. I reminded them I don't want to be a boss. Next thing I knew the woman I was dealing with said HR recommended this other position then. I think I'll like it. And you were an inspiration. I'm thinking about some trips I'd like to take and I'd like a cushion for them. So thank you!

Beth, that job sounds great on many counts!

Had a dusting of snow overnight and rain today. Will take Sling to grocery store tomorrow and then park it for the winter.

Beth, congrats on the potential job. Will your campsite have a cover with mesh sides for sun control? (I almost wrote "sin" control, but then realized that might not be a problem!) At least the store with be air conditioned during the summer.

Most campgrounds in Arizona and some other places provide solid roofs on tall poles for camp hosts. I also noticed this last trip to Valley of Fire that they have constructed a new roof with sides halfway down. The camp hosts who have been there for a couple of years, then put up a tall shed at the rear, so that shades then that way and gives them storage. Neat site.

By the way, not counting Ohio last November, the two coldest spots I have been in my 8 years on the road have been Las Vegas about three years ago and Death Valley about five years ago. I have pictures of Furnace Creek with ice one it! It was 22 degrees that night.

Judy, if/when I ever stay an entire winter in Benson, we'll get some nights that cold. How cold did it get when you were here, Tina? I know we saw snow. That's the desert. I have no clue if I'll have shelter. I'll find out there. There are reasons I like them and reasons I don't. So I'll deal with that either way. I actually worry about things being air conditioned too much when it gets extremely hot. I'll make sure I have a sweater for inside if needed. But, yes, all the buildings will have ac and my electric is covered so if I need it on 24/7 in the summer, it will be (with breaks to make sure it doesn't freeze up). And I confirmed that I'll be able to go over to check on Ty when it's really hot.

I just received an email that my background check is approved, so it's a done deal. Well, I'll have to take a drug test on arrival, but that's no biggie.
