Brighter Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Brighter Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Nov 09, 2020 6:07 am

Morning All, Home from the hospital again yesterday. Hoping the third trip is the charm. Appointment with a spine specialist today, I’m told surgery not necessary but do need preventative care for the future. Not sure how the injury happened, geeezzz how much trouble can I get into at my age. I haven’t been having much fun the last six months. Need to whip this body into shape so I can do a happy dance or maybe a little skip. :D Was embarrassed coming in and out of apartment building looking like the wicked witch of the west while sick. Was grateful for the mask and could have used a bag over my head. If I learn any hints for healthy back care today I will pass it along. I love the idea of itty bitty news. It’s like a good morning from friends. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who follow. Another beautiful day here; the birds are chirping and it sounds like spring. Back pain is so debilitating, you can’t find a comfortable position. My brother is on the floor every morning doing his back exercises. Good luck.
Maybe I will get out my free weight today...h-m-m. Enjoy today. Peggy

Good morning. Sorry you are still having problems Shirl. No fun for sure.
I got my new stove delivered yesterday, sure looks nice and works so much better than the icky one that was here. Will eventually get a new fridge too but for now this one is fine.
Waiting for Wednesday when I get my new furniture and internet and tv. You know the little things in life.
It is COLD here this morning only 25....brrrr Emma's water dish was frozen this morning on the deck. Well off to the shower and then will start my day.

Good Morning to All - I too lurk a lot but don't usually post. We are starting our annual trip to Mazatlan Mexico for the winter. Had a very windy and miserable trip to here from Las Vegas. But right now held up in Amado (a very cold and rainy Amado) waiting for mobile RV mechanic from Tucson to return to work on generator and water heater. mid week If any one needs a mobile RV mechanic in the Tucson area he is very good. Only one of three called that returned my calls and came out to fix electrical problem right away [b]Alarie Mobile RV Service (520)220-7829[b] Lots an lots of strong winds and dust. Then no electricity from 12 volt system. He discovered negative cable on positive post. Said we were lucky we didn't melt the cables or have a fire. Batteries were new - installed in Vegas - not going to that place again!
So we will be here for a while. Need the rest and down time any way. We loaded the RV so fast when we decided to leave that half the stuff is in the wrong place. So doing re arranging for the next few days. Also learning how to use my new laptop and trying to get all the programs on it that I'm used to using.
Will maybe go to grocery store today if weather clears up. Otherwise no plans.
I still write my blog about our daily dullness and about our travels. The link is in my signature.
Karen, glad things are moving along for you. Wednesday will be an exciting day.
Everyone else, enjoy life and stay safe.

Good Morning, looks like Tina got us moving. Either the cats or the dog make me get up. Rascal and CC demand to be let out. Rascal doesn't get to spend the night in the house often because he wants out in the middle of the night.

Shirl, hope you find some relief for your back. I have gotten out of the habit of walking everyday and need to exercise more. Walking with Sugar isn't much exercise because she has to stop and smell everything. I have a treadmill and an exercise bike but they are so boring to me. I would have to turn the treadmill over and vacuum the cat hair off before turning it on. My shoulder is bothering me more and more but I'm still packing 40 pound bags of cat food around.

The schedule for the Christmas campout has been posted and we are suppose to dress in Cajun Attire for the party and wear Christmas PJ's to supper on Friday night. I have lived in Louisiana 66 years and have never dressed like a cajun and I don't have any Christmas PJ's. I don't much care for themed campouts and I don't wear my PJ's to supper. I thought we were going to have a smaller crowd but looks like 40 women are going.

I don't know what I'll do today. At the rate I'm moving it won't be much. I have another grocery list going but don't want to go to town. Still watching Eta. It looks like it will go into Florida with a lot of rain.

Shirl, so sorry to hear about your back issues!

I have had back issues off-and-on most of my life. Not saying I know what you are going through - I don't! - but I can absolutely relate.

The worst back issue I ever had was when I brought my infant daughter home. It was maybe the mental stress of caring for a new baby - my first child - or maybe it was lifting her up and down and all of the additional "lifting and putting away" a new baby entails, but I was in complete agony. I could not even stand up to walk, I could only crawl on the floor. Barely, and very slowly.

When I went to the doctor, he said that there was an injection he could give me in my back, but that it would hurt worse than the back pain I was having. I said "go for it". He was wrong, the injection didn't hurt that much, and it helped. I ended up doing several weeks of physical therapy.

My lovely [EX] husband was pretty pissed about all of this. Not sure why, maybe because I couldn't stand long enough to fix his meals or clean up his messes, or kiss his a--, oh well, you know what I mean. Anyway, after a few days he grabbed me by the arm and growled into my face that if (notice the "if" part) I was having any pain it was just too bad, I needed to "get over it". For a final comforting touch he added: "If I was having pain, I wouldn't let anybody know about it!!".

Shirl, I only say this so that you don't put yourself down too much. Don't put yourself down AT ALL. Only you know your discomfort, how much pain you are in, there is no shame in having a physical issue!

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, or embarrass you in any way!

You GO girl!!!

Good afternoon friends!

It is 78 degrees and that's jusst about going to be our high today. we've had rain showers and they will continue through the day, and into tonight and tomorrow. This is the storm eta that is raining on us, but right now the storm is in southern FL.

when we went to Dennis' celebration Friday, we met a lady that told us about bok Tower, which is in Clearwater FL, where they have bells that play during the day. Steve just found it online, so at some point, we want to go there to see and hear the bells. That is something I would thoroughly enjoy.

Dinner is going to be tuna salad. I put hard boiled eggs and chopped bread and butter pickles in mine along with a few seasonings.

Have a tremendously wonderful day! v

I have enjoyed my morning. Slept in. Read important and not so important messages and random essays off the computer. Let dogs go outside and come back in. I seldom even pretend to be ambitious any more. I do know that Jane will get groomed later today in the first step of preparing for this coming week of shows starting Thursday. It was so in the plans for yesterday but oh well. Everyone's nail will be Dremeled regardless of how much they might protest. And Lark will remind me once again that the temperatures outside will be disappearing after today and that we should make walkies while the sun does shine.

I also finally made myself go through my photos and organize that last two years into folders/albums. It gives me a chance to delete all those shots that seemed like a good idea at the time but just don't hold up as memory worth. But yes, I still have a boat load of photos that go back to all those that I took time to scan in several years ago. When I delete some of the pictures it also reminds me that very few if anyone else will bother to look through them. They will have no meaning for most but still take me back to that day at a glance.

All the itty bitty news, whether or not it is fit to print.

Good (late) morning gals! I woke up at 7am and decided to go back to sleep for an hour. Woke up 3 hours later! I turned off the AC/heat last night so it is a chilly 65* in here but actually feels good sitting here with a light throw blanket on me. I need to take the golf cart out and stop at the mail box, the security shack (to get the other painters number), and the office for some info. Then start in on the porch and deck. Luckily, it is sunny with very little wind right now, so a good time for using the leaf blower.

Shirl, you might look into yoga for back pain. There are videos on that. I had that terrible back pain last year when I moved wrong while sitting in the dentist chair (of all things! ) and was out of commission for a couple weeks. Not much worse than back pain!

Karen, sounds like you are getting things together in your new house! Will be so nice to finally have furniture! And then you can start decorating to your style. Remember tho, you said you want to be a minimalist so keep it simple! (I need to take my own advice on that!).

Carol, take your time getting to Mexico! You and Bill don't need to get overtired and stressed while you are on your vacation! Are there any restrictions about crossing the border now?

Anne, I hope you didn't stay with that POS for very long! Sounds like a really awful person! I can't imagine what you went thru with him!

Irmi, I have heard of Bok Tower and seen pictures and it looks beautiful! I would love to see it too! How is your Casita coming along?

Tina, I love your (or Lark's) term "make walkies"!  . I also think about all my stuff and what will happen to the meaningful things I have after I am gone. I don't know if my daughter will want anything of mine and I know my brothers will toss out everything without looking at any of it. Makes me sad. I plan to put things in a box or two to go to my daughter and I guess she will do what she wants with it. Maybe it will be more meaningful to her by then. :(

I better get busy here. It is already 11am! Got a lot to do yet!

Anne, my first husband was a POS. I graduated high school with him but he joined the Marines and I went to college. I have been so thankful that I stayed in college. I never knew if he was coming home after work or when and usually drunk. When our son was born I had to stay in the hospital an extra day because I couldn't find him to come get us. Today they would have released me and I would have had to take a taxi home. When I got home I had to go to the store to get things we needed and almost passed out at the store. I put up with him for several years and moved out. When he found out where I was he came to the apartment. He shoved me up against the wall and told me he could kill me if he wanted to. I didn't say anything but the next day there was a restraining order against him. I only had to call the police once for him to know I was through.

I seldom take any pictures. Since most people take pictures with their phones I wonder if there will be many pictures in later years.

My son will have his hands full getting rid of all my junk. When my dad's parents were gone he was throwing stuff down an old well. My sister stepped in and brought things to an auction house and sold it.

After typing a long message I accidentally closed the page. Trying to remember everything

Shirl, I hope doctors and exercises give you some relief. Irmi, I'd love to go to Bok Tower. Those with exes, I admit I loved mine, but it was one of my worst decisions to marry him. That said, there were great times and the divorce caused other great times that I can probably say were a catalyst to my traveling and discovering RVing. As they say, we wouldn't be where we are without our pasts. That said, there are certainly moments in my past I'd rather be able to have skipped.

I first started a post on here early. But I got an email asking if I'd be available for a phone interview for a job. Sure. And between the call and emails my day is staying busy. What started out as a workamping job is turning into a possible full-time job with benefits and still an rv site. If we work it out I'll have to contact my volunteer position in Yuma and tell them I regret I won't be there. I've never backed out of a commitment, but I think this job could be a good place for me for the next year, possibly longer. More if it comes through.

Hope you're all having a good day
Beth

I've had a strange morning. It is sunny and bright, no sign of rain, phooey! First imcident, I had just put clean sheets on my bed when Mandy came tearing through the room, jumped on bed, coughed once and barfed on my clean sheet! Argh! So pulled sheet back off and put in washer, again!
Was getting ready for Curves when my phone rang. It was a unidentified 888 number. Something made me pick it up, which I don't usually do. An electronic voice told me it was my credit union fraud department. I immediately hung up and called my CU. Turned out, it was them, and someone with wrong security code but my cc number was trying to add a billing account! My CU caught it and stopped it. They told me come pick up a new card. Went after Curves and in minutes had a new card with new number. Whew! Thank you to my CU of 35 years for always being on their toes!
So I did do Curves and picked up Mandy cat food, and now need to eat to be ready for taking son to Chiropractor at 3. Sean, the handyman is out blowing and picking up leaves and other yard work. He's going to hang my 2 new solar powered auto security lights too. Mel bought those lights and unboxed them and put them in sunroom to charge but never hung them. Now they will provide extra security at night by motion detecting anyone entering my yard. Then he will hook up new sprinkler timer.
My back and neck have done fairly well with Bowen treatment. I recommend it if you have an experienced practitioner in your area. It's gentle but very effective. And, of course, I recommend Curves. It has reduced my back amd knee pain a lot, through consistent 3 times a week workouts. I used to have incidents 3-4 times a year where my back went out and I could barely get out of a chair. Now I get pain but can get through it without being totally incompacitated.
That's my day, for a Monday, feels productive, if somewhat frustrating.

Good Afternoon!

Shirl, hoping you find relief! My back gets stressed, but not painful.

No ex here - simply because we each knew no one else would put up with either of us.

Irmi, Bok Tower (actually near Lake Wales, FL) is wonderful with beautiful grounds as well. Unfortunately, Pinewood Estate is closed this season. It is only open during the holidays and is decorated for Christmas.

I need to put last year's the usual annual folder on the computer - not sure why that hasn't been done! Thanks for the reminder, Tina. I'm starting to refresh my travel memories by looking at photos.

Since I am near Safeway and still will be when I get into the apartment, I ordered a wire cart to carry groceries. It's awfully big! Thought of sending it back and then started to think of other uses for it. BFF called in my 'old lady' cart. :) I have turned my 'bedroom' into a storage area and closed it off for the duration of cold weather. Jack knife sofa is just fine!

On to whatever is next. Enjoy your day!

Whew! I feel like I have been working on the outside for 8 hours! It is only 3:30 and I didn't start until noon! What a ton of work! I used the leaf blower on the deck (carpet) and then vacuumed it, swept it and vacuumed again. I doubt I could ever get all the dust out of that carpet. I cleaned the railings, removed all the patio furniture and hosed all that down in the front yard. Then hosed down the front patio and the driveway. I swept that all first to get the bigger debris and have a large pile of that to bag up and throw out. So much dirt, dead grass, and small pieces of palm fronds! Washed the little table and chairs on the front patio and sprayed down the side and front of the house. It looks pretty good now. Put the furniture back on the deck even tho it is still a little wet. The cushions are hanging on the railing drip-drying.

Now for the back patio area!! All the excess stuff of mine and misc junk is back there for now. Need to go thru that and clean it all up back there including the swing and cushions. Will have to wait until Thursday when I have the day off to finish all that. But at least the front of the house doesn't look like trailer trash anymore!

I will need three showers tonight!! I feel just covered in dust and dirt now! I keep blowing out dirt from my nose. I even wore a mask for the leaf blowing part.

After this little break, I will be cleaning out my car and clean up the golf cart before it gets dark out.
