The Wait Goes On

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

The Wait Goes On

Postby Colliemom » Thu Nov 05, 2020 7:45 am

Morning everyone. Another day is breaking here in the north. And the wait to see who our next President will be goes on.

Shirl, sorry to hear about the hospitalization. Hopefully the specialist will be able to help. Found out from my Chiropractor that the disc between my 4th and 5th lumbar is deteriorating. Doing regular 6 weeks check up is keeping it under control. But I do notice it on occasion. Keeping myself active and not sitting to much, plus daily dog walks help keep my muscles stronger too. Tough getting older. Lyn, glad to hear all’s okay with you.

Enjoying some beautiful weather here with above normal temps in the 60’s and near 70’s. Quite the change from Sunday’s wi day and snowy day, which dumped 4 inches on us. Am taking advantage of it and being outside much as I can. Finishing up some fall chores and puttering around with other things. Was down in Houghton Lake yesterday getting new tires installed on my truck. May have to take a run back down to pick up a new trailer tire if it comes in. Needed one earlier this summer to replace one that got a nail and wasn’t repairable. But Goodyear wasn’t manufacturing any then, due to manufacturing slowdowns from Covid. Had to use a different brand of same size, but want to have all four of same brand. So getting while the gettings good. Will have them swapped out in the spring. Other brand one will become new spare tire.

So guess I will finish up breakfast, get ready for tge day and head to tge outdoors. Hope you all have a nice day. Stay safe.

I would like to know what the guys on CNN are on to stay so excited about nothing. Nothing has changed much since yesterday.

I had found some of the little wire shelves in the old house so started cleaning out under the bathroom sinks to see if they would fit. Managed to throw some things away and move things to where they would be used. Found socks that had escaped the sock drawer. Cooked a package of bacon in the oven and put that up. Deboned a rotrosiry chicken I bought yesterday on sale. Put the meat in the freezer to use for dressing and have the bones boiling to make broth for gumbo. Wish I was that ambitious everyday. You can get a lot done when you get up at 6:00 but would rather go back to sleep.

Guess I will get dressed and go feed the cats. I told my son that I would go help him bag leaves. We'll see if I make it to Lafayette. Tomorrow is trash day so need to work on filling the can.

Good morning Sue, Martha & all who follow,

I had Olivia & the baby yesterday & I have to admit that her schooling is coming along better than I thought initially. Having my older granddaughter out here to help has done wonders. They are now breaking words into syllables, making up & writing simple sentences & working on sets of 5 in math along with hexagons & octagons. While I thought this was way too advanced for kindergarten, the kids seem to get it without batting an eye. Its still tiring to have both of them, but at least I'm not as stressed out about how she's doing in school.

Barbie & BJ, thanks for the hints on how you cut your own hair. Mine will have to grow a little more before I try either method, but at least now I have a couple of ideas.

Well, the baby is sleeping so I'd better get cleaning around here. I just wanted to let you all know that the distance learning seems to be working better than I initially thought it was.

Take care,
Catherine

My sister is glad her granddaughters are back in school. They have to go to her house for the internet if they are doing it online. The 12 year old was trying to help the 6 year old but would just end up doing the work for her. The 6 year old is spoiled. All she wants to do is throw a fit for someone's phone so she can play games. I was just so glad when I didn't have anyone in school. My last year of high school I was at a school that was first thru twelfth grade. They would make the seniors go babysit the lower grades if there was a teacher's meeting. They would have to send a boy with me because I couldn't make them behave. I never wanted to be a teacher after that experience.

Good afternoon all. I think the kids and teachers have to all be commended. The teachers have always been, IMO, angels and even more so in these times.

Well, we were informed today that our park has an active covid case and the person is in the hospital in Tucson. The office wasn't giving out more info, but the grapevine has... It's a man who was our former maintenance manager. That makes it more scary because he knows everyone and everyone always talks with him. I've been very careful since getting back here. I haven't even gone inside the rec hall. And because I have my little washing machine I've not had to go in the laundry room. I've social distanced and wear a mask. It's making me wonder whether I'll feel comfortable in Yuma. If I don't, I won't stay, it's as simple as that. Even with the case I feel I can stay as safe as anywhere else.

Stay safe everyone.

Good rainy afternoon!

Shirl, sorry about your back and that you had to be hospitalized.

Beth, being careful is about all you can do. My Kansas aunt in the farming community now knows of people in her area with the virus - all just recently. Just as I pulled into this park Saturday, I realized I didn't have a mask with me except in the camper where two slides would have to go out! Felt pretty foolish, but office had disposable ones.

Lucky me, my daughter has been cutting my hair. It really needs it again, but have to find a time that she's available.

Catherine, interesting about what they are learning in kindergarten! So glad you are at home in the desert, Sheila!

Yesterday I hooked up the cable TV - fuzzy. Have one more thing to try before I ask at the office. Tried to program Roomba app today - no luck connecting to Internet. So much for electronics. :)

Everyone be safe!

I worked a full day here. Like I said yesterday, everything takes longer than expected. I finished the bedroom and cleaned the kitchen and part of the living room. Did a few projects that I had put off in those rooms as well. I spent this morning getting caught up on the past two weeks of church services on You Tube. The messages were very inspiring (on how to get thru the current situations) so that motivated me to get up and moving. I also got a book I ordered called "The Joy Of Less, a minimalist living guide". Just the first couple pages got me motivated as well. Can't wait to read the rest of the book! Sounds like it has some great ideas.

Tomorrow will finish the living room and start on the porch. Saturday will be dedicated to the outside. Also have a painter coming by tomorrow to look at the trim and figure out why the paint isn't sticking. He has painted many park models here so I am sure he has run into this before. They must all be built pretty much with the same materials and paint. I may just hire him to do the painting since my shoulders are having issues lately. Will see how much he wants for painting it. It is just trim on 6 windows and a small piece of trim on the front of the house.

Gotta find something to eat and then read for awhile before bed time. :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

accomplished more today but not near what I should do... I wish that they would have been able to give me an idea of when to expect that part.... 1 week 2 or a month... it would make a big difference in what I do... hate to put out everything to only have them call and say got the part can you come in tomorrow? did get out my chairs plants out of the shower and got gas... think the generator was almost empty as it took almost 3 gals not quite but close... as I wrote things down it sure doesn't seem like I did much oh yes did check the water level in my batteries only to find one I can't open up and check I'd had a new cable put on and I think he got it too tight and part of the cable is over the cap you open... not sure who to talk to to see what to do to fix the problem... he fixed it like the day before I left and close to being dark...
one of the guys that came down from Idaho brought pears and apples so stopped by to get a few 3 or each look yummy. Pears aren't ripe though... which is good ... won't be forced to eat them all at one time... I do like fresh pears... not so much canned home canned is better than commercially canned..
Beth would you just stay in Benson then if you didn't go to Yuma? can always come to the desert... just me here in this area... can do as much as we would want...
I had to get cash for the black water valve so took out the excess tucked the rest away went to look at my wallet and that excess wasn't there thought for sure I had lost it went through my purse not there then thought it might be in the basket that has turned into a catch all after doing laundry the other day...a place my purse as often been... but hadn't looked yet... today I was going through my actions trying to figure out where that money went to saw me count the money out to tuck it away and once again thought shouldn't be that amount took at some so went back and recounted yep there it was all together... so glad I didn't lose it...
well need to crochet really ought to do it in the afternoon but then when would my nap happen??? :o
