Gloomy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Gloomy Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed Oct 28, 2020 12:00 pm

Good afternoon all. It’s another wet day here and leaves are falling fast as I look out my window. Forecast said maybe some peeks of sun later today but I’m not counting on it. Or it’ll be right at sunset! Tomorrow is supposed to be really rainy and as most everyone else it’s not unwelcome since we’re still under a drought situation. Judi, I think I would have packed up too and headed for warmer temps! My timing is terrible for getting an appointment to get the pup groomed. I finally got ahold of my groomer the other day and she could get him in tomorrow. He definitely needs a haircut but I hope not a lot. I need to dig out his jackets since besides the rain they’re calling for snow flurries this week end and maybe tomorrow night into Friday morning. Good that he doesn’t spend much time outside! Martha, still watching Zeta and hoping it misses you. I hate to rush the days but I’ll be happy to see the end of this year and hope things start to level out around the country. Hope you are all staying safe and that you have a good day.

I was out early on this cool Wednesday, watching my handyman use trencher to prepare to rebuild the sprinklers for my front yard. Actually wore a light jacket for first time this fall. Hard to believe a week ago it was 90!
Have to be at eye Dr at 1:10 to have left eye healing evaluated and decide when to do left. Actually seeing better with left eye than before the polishing was done. Not as good as I need, but better.
Need to get to Costco tomorrow I guess, to get meat for chili. Always a big batch for Halloween each October.
Still no rain predicted over next 10 days. Sure hope it comes soon!

It's overcast but not feeling anything from the hurricane. It is raining just across Vermilion Bay from me. It was going North all morning and is finally taking a turn to the East. I rode down to the boat launch to see what the water is doing. It isn't rising. I hadn't been past my road since Hurricane Delta. There is a lot more damage since Hurricane Laura. Laura was water, Delta was wind.

Good afternoon gals!

Yes Beth, space heaters use a LOT of electricity ($$$). Cheaper to use propane.

I opened my windows last night and by 5am had to close the windows, get an extra blanket on me, and turn the heat on for a bit. Now I have the AC on, but only because I am house cleaning and I get warm moving around so I like the cooler air on me. Lola has been out on the porch since this morning.

What a difference a week makes! Was in the low 100's last week and now in the 70's. I even grabbed a windbreaker to wear to work yesterday morning.

I also bought stuff for making chili yesterday, too. Great fall comfort food!

I am using my 3 days off to do "spring" cleaning in here. Lots of deep cleaning and reorganizing to do. I am going to do a lot more tossing of things this time. Just hate all the clutter! Time for it to go!

Lola seems to be feeling better. She looks better to me, fur looks nicer so she must be grooming again.

Martha, glad you are getting missed by this latest hurricane. What do they do now that they have gone thru the Greek alphabet for names? Zeta won't be the last storm of this season I am sure.

Judy, sorry you got chased out of the Grand Canyon by the cold weather. Arizona and California will be warming up now to seasonal temps so you should be more comfortable for awhile.

Time to get back to work here...scrubbed the bathroom and now need to sort thru all the stuff I had crammed into every nook and cranny in there and get rid of most of it. Then on to the bedroom...

Have a good day! :D

Good evening. Martha, I'm happy to hear this storm hasn't caused you more major headaches. Both my rig and my casita look like they were hit by hurricanes. So much rig stuff is in the casita for me to clean and reorganize the rig. Luckily it's temporary. I'm looking forward to weather back in the 80's tomorrow

it was a nice day weather wise according to weather.com will be nice traveling hope that it's correct as I am all hitched up to go tomorrow really was thinking about staying but someone wanted this site and since they had requested it last week and they put them off they didn't want to ask them to stay where they put them when they first came in.....I understand but would have liked to stay a few more... oh well it is what is ... had planned on dumping the tanks but can't reach on of the sewers couldn't get the cap off and ended up with poop :o on cement as the whole thing came off while trying to get the lid off.. not sure if it was just on super tight or off a bit neighbor finally got it off. I got the mess cleaned up son in law sprayed the cement off so hopefully all is well can't get the two hoses to stay together and diffidently don't want another mess  and yet I really don't want to carry it with me.. if I pull ahead will have the truck in the street if I back up will have the trailer in the street... will have to ponder it some.
so now I need to figure out what area to address first  I do spread out when in one place more than over night... everything that was in sink is not plant where it goes now needs to move that type of thing would like it so that I have it all done except for a few things for the morning and if I am going to be able to do that I ought to get busy and work on it
you all take care...
glad the heat is cooling off but the cold is warming up not suppose to freeze here so can put the heating lamps up

We never got any wind and rain here, thank goodness. Now we have a cold front coming through.

Barbie, I don't think they are through the greek alphabet yet. I think the last time they got to the greek alphabet was in 2005 when we had Katrina and Rita. My life was in so much turmoil after Rita that I don't remember what went on. I sure hope we are through for the year. Glad Lola is doing better. Annie goes through her spells of trying to pull her fur out. Knock on wood, she has been good for a while. I let the vet do the senior profile on her when she went the last time. He says her tests were normal. I just worry that she stays so skinny but she has always been slim.

The insurance adjuster showed up this morning. He said I should hear from the insurance company in the next 30 days. Really! I'm not use to having anyone in my house and I realized how much stuff I have that needs to go back to the old house. I just got tired of moving it around.

Been a busy day. Once I cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom, the rest of the day has been going thru stuff; hair, dental, bath stuff, nail stuff, meds (cold medicine, etc), skin care, make-up, etc. Way too much of everything! I even found bins out on the porch with bathroom stuff in it! I got most of what I am keeping, put away. I don't have a lot of storage for the bathroom but I added some small plastic drawers to put on the toilet tank for little things. I have virtually no counter space around the sink, just enough for a soap dispenser and my toothbrush. I have also now labeled where everything is so I can easily put things away in the right spot and stay organized.

Tomorrow will be the bedroom, laundry and trash day. I have already done some cleaning and organizing recently in there but needs a touch up. I also need to patch up the wall around the mini split and repaint those areas.

Friday will be the kitchen. That I have already gone thru and gotten rid of quite a lot of stuff in there, just needs a little cleaning and put stuff away. The kitchen table has a lot of stuff on it to go thru. It is by the door so everything lands on there when I am coming and going.

Off to bed shortly...

Good news at Dr today! She said my left eye is now healed and healed very perfectly smooth! So in two weeks, on the 11th, tne right eye will get its polishing. I was surprised and pleased how much better I could see on their eye chart projected on screen. Still don't have focus for distance, but for sure the distortion from the scars/ called mapping, are gone! One step forward.
Trenching out front done and the beautiful small ( about 25 ft tall) redwood, which we carried home from the state fair years ago in a little tube, and planted, was cut down today, a victim of its water supply cut off when we repaired our water main to the house last summer. Sad, but, nothing I could do about it, it died quick after line was repaired. We actually saw its roots growing in and around the water pipe where it was cracked. Lost a big Eucalyptus near it as well. That has to have a professional crew climb and sling down big branches because if they fall wrong way, they hit my house or the neighbors or another living tree!
That was my day.
