Blustery Monday

Can I use the word "blustery" in the desert? For us it is!

I went to bed really early since I kept falling asleep on the couch. Opened all the windows for the fresh air. The winds increased a lot even before I went to bed and I could hear lots of banging and things hitting the house, probably palm fronds. Had my windows in the bedroom open all night but by 4am I had to close them because the winds were getting way too strong and noisy and my blinds were blowing all over. Gust up to 60 mph out there!! Was getting pretty chilly in the house too so I closed most of the windows. Todays high won't get out of the 60's. A far cry from the low 100's from a week ago! No complaints from me about that tho!

Not very busy at work lately so am not sure why I am so tired when I get home. I have already had 8 hours of sleep tonight and it is only 4:30am! Need to try to get back to sleep for a few more hours. Now that the windows are closed, it isn't quite so noisy so that might help. The landscape crew will be busy this morning with cleaning up all the palm fronds that blew down overnight.

Good morning Barbie and everybody else from chilly Hartford. Glad to hear that it’s cooling down in the desert, Barbie.

I don’t know how many of you kept your old vinal LPs like I did, but I just couldn’t let go of them. My son had absconded with my turntable years ago and I stopped playing my albums.
So, during this time of sorting and organizing I had to make a decision, buy a turntable or discard the records. Well I found a very reasonably priced turntable/cassette ( yes, I kept those too)/ cd/ am/fm all in one unit with separate speakers. I’m back in the late 70’s again!!!

Martha, I’m keeping an eye on the hurricane reports and thinking of you.

Peggy, when I was going thru stuff at my dad's house, I found my old albums and my old record player. I spent one whole day playing all the records before putting them all in the donation box. Brought back good memories.

Fell asleep and laterr when my alarm came on, I could barely drag myself out of bed! On my way out to the car, I noticed my 3 person swing had flipped over from the wind. Was still blowing strong. Got it back up and removed the awning. Lots of debris and even a couple trees down on the way to work.

I think it will be quiet at work today. Too windy and dusty. You can't see the mountains from all the sand and dust blowing around. Not smoke this time since the winds are coming from the south today.

Oh, Peggy, that's a good buy. Enjoy listening. Barbie, if I didn't have Ty I think I'd still be in bed. I had no desire to get up. And the way I'm yawning, you'd think I got no sleep lol The wind here is not like yours but too much to work outside. It'll actually be colder tomorrow, but no wind, so I'm hoping I get myself in gear and do what's necessary.

I did fix a loose door handle today. And I got out the new latch I purchased for a drawer in the rv but it's a different size, so I need a different tool to do the job. One way to get out of doing something lol. I think I have the tool, somewhere. So I'll be searching later.

Meantime, I'm relaxing. Oh, here are a few pictures from the awesome sunset last night (the colors surrounded me!)

Beth, what beautiful photos! I can hear a breeze every so often, but still wind here only max at 11 mph, with mostly 0-3 mph. But over 300,000 Californians without power again! And again, we don't lose power because of city owned natural gas back up power plant! Yay Roseville. Kind of feels chilly in here, even though it's 71 degrees. I had fun at Curves this morning, then did a few chores here, now going to take a hot shower as my lunch bakes. Looking forward to seeing Dr Wednesday to see how left eye healed and maybe being able to stop drops and ointment and schedule round 2.
My son has reported snow twice now, first was six inches, second more! Snow suits for Halloween anyone ?

High today is 35 and low tonight will be 14. (Low last night was 30 and did not get past 32 until 10 am.) Luckily, my tanks and hookups are in a storage area that has a heating duct, and I can latch it shut. Only problem is that I usually leave it partly open because my plug does not easily fit through the little hole in the bottom. So, i worked a while and got it stuffed through and then stuck a rag around the opening to keep the cold air out. Ditto for the larger hole where the sewer hose goes through. Also made sure sewer hose was empty so it would not freeze. Finally, I put the remote thermometer that I bought last November when I was stuck in Ohio getting medical tests on top of the extra electrical cord. It is really handy and cost about $30. The receiver goes in the motorhome and tells me the temperature in the tank/hookup area. Actually, with running my rear furnace once in while, it stayed about 50 in there until early this morning when I had turned my furnace down--lowest it dropped was 35 degrees, so no worries about freezing stuff.

There are a LOT of trailers here (a bunch came in just before dark last night) and very few of them will have enclosed tanks like I do. Hope they are OK. When I bought my motorhome, I researched everything to death and made lists of what I wanted and what I needed, but I never, ever considered enclosed tanks!!! Just never considered I would end up in cold places, but I am sure all of us have. Didn't plan it, but here I am.

Staying in today (obviously), so am glad I got a short bike ride in yesterday and a longer one on Saturday. Here is a photo of me on the bike trail, bundled up in long-sleeved shirt, heavy sweatshirt, and windbreaker, but still freezing!

Good afternoon. I went up to Roseburg today (100 miles) to my house as I had to let the carpet installers inside. They will be back tomorrow but I just gave them a key cause I dont want to make that trip again so soon. I think I will go up this weekend and maybe take some more tubs and start lining my shelves so I can put things away. I cant move in until I get some furniture LOL I have my camp chairs out of the RV and a roll up table...what more does a gal need ?? LOL

I swept the floor while I was up there in the laundry room but dang no dust pan. It is the little things in life that get ya. So put it on my list. I improvised with some cardboard. Think I will take my laundry and see if the washer and dryer really does work. Talked to my internet provider and my bill will be the same as it was before but I didnt schedule service yet because I dont have a tv or table to put it on yet. That is on my list. I have a big list.

Peggy I too got rid of all my vinyl albums a couple years ago. They were just too heavy for me to lug around anymore after having nothing to play them on. Sounds like you got a good deal able to play both vinyl and cassettes. I kept my cassettes BUT we know how that ended.

Judy when I was living in the COLD and my water would freeze every night if I hooked it up I invested in a Pirit heated hose...worked great. Beth loved your pics I saw some great sunsets when I was in Tucson but none as grand as yours.

I very seldom hook up my water hose. Instead, I fill my fresh water tanks, and they stay fairly warm. Reason I do not use city water is that I have had 6 water pumps in eight years, and if I do not use one for a couple of days, it stops working and I have to replace it. Just easier to fill tank. (I have had the problem checked mutliple times by Fleetwood and Shur-Flo and no one can find the probably air leak.)

Also, got my extra electric heater out and it really squealed, so I sprayed the center of the fan with WD40. It is now working fine, so I have it in the back and will save on propane. Just want propane to last until Wed morning until I leave here.

I did break the law, of sorts today. Went out to fill my water tank and the elk came right up to me, looking for a drink. So, I took the hose back around to the other side of my rig and filled the little depression in the cement pad. The one elk I see every day is a female, and she always has a yearling calf, with her. But she is very stingy, and there was no way I could get her to let the calf drink. I refilled the depression about ten times and the cow drank all of it, so she was really dry. All the younger one could get was a few sips. When I shooed the cow away, the younger one went with her, so I am positive it is her daughter from spring or last year.

There are so many elk roaming around here. They really should give them water or reduce their numbers with predators of some sort. There are just no streams at all around here because we are on a high, sloping plateau. At least they are all wearing their shaggy winter coats.

it was so windy and cold last night that I didn't even try to take Shadow out for his last pee of the night.... figured that is what the pee pads are for... typically I take him out just before I go to bed 2:30 or so... I think the high today was 35 but not sure of that don't know what the low was but was 29 when I got up... my dd asked if I wanted to spend the night at her house (was at supper with my son and his two girls) debated about it but finally decided not to as it's too cold for me to leave the 5th wheel when it's this cold I run heat lamps aimed under the sink and just wasn't comfortable with leaving them on when not here... sounds like a stupid reason not to go as it would have been much warmer there... plus son needed to get the girls home and to bed and we would have had to take Shadow over to my eldest... and gathering up what I deemed I would need wasn't just a quick thing had we thought a head Shadow could have gone with my son in law and I could have been packed up to go and perhaps I could have figured out what to do about keeping it warmer in here... oh well I will get to see her for a bit tomorrow if I could figure out how to get to front runner I could go down and ride back up with her but everyone is at work... oh well even though I have been here for awhile with the truck in the shop haven't been able to visit like I had planned on... didn't hear from them today... thinking it was too cold to work on it hope they get it fixed so I don't have to stay longer
I used to have some records think they were in storage but think I have seen them in one of my dd's car so not sure of there status right now... how they didn't donate them ... one record can't be replaced I'd like to make a new tape of it...
but then one would need a record player...which I think my dd has my old one...
forgot my charger last night so had to buy a new one today as the one here simply isn't charging ought to go check and see if the new one is charging if not it's either my abode or the phone
I really didn't do much except stay in bed as it was cold and then wrap up in my heated throw... did work on my nephew's afghan still didn't find a hose think I will use the leaky one and put some water in tank but will still need one could have gotten a 10 ft but wanted a longer one now I wish I had gotten it at least that would be a help when I get to Q and filling from the barrel and pump I need two hoses so in actuality 10 ft would work other than in campgrounds and one never knows how far away that faucet will be..

Ready for bed. Got the windows open but absolutely no wind tonight. All or nothing around here, I guess!

One more day of work and then 3 days off. Was slow today but got some good tips.
