And It's Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And It's Saturday

Postby Bethers » Sat Oct 17, 2020 12:48 pm

I can't believe October is more than 1/2 over! I was so proud of myself getting so much accomplished yesterday. Now I'm a slug. I guess I only have so much energy and I used it all yesterday lol. Oh, Ty and I have walked in the desert and played ball in the dog area. And I've washed and hung another load of clothes. And my rv fridge got emptied yesterday so I cleaned most of the inside this morning. And then I quit. Lol I think most of the problem is I hate gardening/landscaping and I need to spend time outside digging up some cactus and getting rid of dead weeds. I can't count on getting any rain to soften the ground and those dang cactus and weeds make me bleed, even with the gloves. We have a landscaping shed here and I'm going to try using some different tools. Maybe that'll help. I'll probably sign them out tomorrow morning and see if I have any success. My friend here in Benson was going to help and take some of the cactus, but she's helping her daughter and grandkids in the east and probably won't make it back here this winter.

Ok, I've complained too much. Actually, I'm happy to be here just not looking forward to that project.

Beth, wish I were there. Don’t have much experience with cactus but love to garden. Is water at a premium or are you allowed to wet the soil and then pull weeds. Bet there is a YouTube for gardening in the desert that would help. Not sure this east coast flatlander is much help. Lol

P.S, I shouldn’t have read your post, I have been looking at desert gardening video. Most not suitable for your short stay at casita. Does your landscape shed have a small garden cart you could take on your walks with Ty. If there are big rocks, odd pieces of wood anything to add texture to your yard instead of plants. In your future travels metal silhouettes that you could stick in the ground when there but store inside when traveling. Read that desert soil is either sandy or hard. Needs to be amended to be workable. Wouldn’t think that is high on your list of priorities at this time. :D

Shirl, I like having a few of the cactus. But the people here before me didn't take care of them expanding. I actually was looking forward to my gf and I digging up a bunch of the babies for her and her park. Unfortunately I'm left to my own devices and therein lies the problem. I've never cared for gardening (except the fruits of my labors when I've planted veggies). So I need to put on my big girl panties and do some work. Most of my area will not be new plants. I do love having a few, though. And it shouldn't be beyond me to take care of if I get it under control. Thanks for your help, albeit from a distance.

Had a busy morning running errands. Had to go to the Batteries Plus store as they finally (after a month) got my new FOB in. I had 2, one I never used unless I was towing, but we all know what happened to that one. Then the one I had with me fell apart. Had to use the key and get in to unlock the other doors and tailgate area. Was a pain. So this one works perfect so ordered another one. Dealer wanted $400 This was only $110. I need 2 sets of keys tho ya know just in case LOL Then went to the Lock shop and since I closed on my house Thursday they gave me ONE key so I had 5 more made ($10) ha ha I will have the locks changed after I move in and get a new door for the back. Had to go buy a new Shark hand held vacuum to pick up all the little tufts of hair Emma leaves behind. Was picking them up but I had this same vacuum before and it worked well so will need it anyway. I did borrow the maids vacuum a couple of times in between service but this will work much better.

Will be heading up to Roseburg on Tuesday as my carpet installers will be there to measure then will be 1 or 2 weeks before the carpet will be installed. Then I can start moving a few tubs from my storage unit into the 3rd bedroom for now. Then need to line up someone to redo my bathrooms. And check out furniture LOL I dont have one stick of furniture but I do have a few camping chairs in my storage unit. I wont be moving in for a while. I can stay here for another 11 months ha ha dont think it will take me that long to fix it up and move in.

Karen, don't get me started on car dealers and their key racket. I went through that several times with my son some years ago. He kept losing his key or lending his car to someone and they would lose the key. I don't remember how much they were charging for a new key and to program it but I know it would piss me off big time. I stood and watched the guy do it one time and it took 5 minutes. If you found the lost key of course they wanted the same amount to reprogram it.

I am missing our halloween campout at the lake but I was just too tired to go. Looks like they are having a good time.

I'm not much of a gardener but my roses looked nice before the storm. They don't have any leaves left. I guess they will come back. This is not the time of year to fertilize them. Next week I think I'll call a nursery and ask if there is anything I can do for them.

Good afternoon.

I am glad you all like my stories. I am hoping I don't have too many more for awhile since I am getting stressed out from it all. I will add one more tho. That coworker came in today to "discuss" the issue. We went into the break room and he proceeded to justify his behavior with all sorts of excuses. Any time I opened my mouth to correct him or explain something, he cut me off and started getting louder and angrier. I just stood there saying nothing since I didn't want to get into a shouting match. I think that made him even madder and finally our manager came in. She explained to him why it isn't acceptable to give unsolicited advice in front of a client. Luckily at that point I got called out on to the floor for a client. I hate confrontations and arguments. Especially when the other person refuses to let me talk. The guy I am working with today said I should have said "just shut up man!" Another reason I am glad I am single.

Luckily I have tomorrow off. I need to destress a little. I feel like I have been on the warpath all week! I need a break from the drama.

Who sold their RV Sheila? You said Eva. Not sure if you meant Evie or Ava.

Beth, watch out for those cacti! Do you ever see scorpions around there? I got a black light flashlight to use to see them at night. We have them out here but not within my community.

Still hot here. 106 today.

Beth, just don't hire the garden people who trimmed Barbie's tree!

Had to drive to St. George (40 miles one way) today to pick up the 12-volt laptop charger I ordered from HP. Won't get into entire story, but I will not order anything from them again until they get online sales people who speak English. Took three people before I found one who knew was 12-volts meant, and then they promised they would send it Fed-Ex to a Fed-Ex center where I could pick it up, but they sent it something called "Smart Fed-Ex" which means US post office. Anyway, finally got it but have not yet tried it out.

Tomorrow I am headed to Lake Powell. Expensive, but my GC North Rim reservations got cancelled and there were no other good options without driving a long way out of my way, which also has costs. Then on to south rim GC and then to Willow Beach Marina near LV and Valley of Fire also near LV. Then might stop by your area, Barbie, on my way to southern CA.
