Good morning Shirl and anyone who follows. I too was up early, took the dog out, stopped at the hotel desk and got a steaming cup of coffee. Drove up to Roseburg yesterday (100 miles) to sign the escrow papers for my house. Got the key wahoo. Need to get more keys made today as I dont do well with just one key in this chaos. I have stuff in my car, hotel and storage unit. Can't find anything. I havent bought much for the house yet as I didnt want to haul it around. I did order my carpet and they are coming on Tuesday to measure. I bought a few things when I was up at Laura's but she is keeping them for me. I can't do much until the new carpet is in then will have the bathrooms and kitchen evaluated as to cost. Also need to buy new appliances AND vacuum, printer etc. You just dont realize what you don't have until you need it. My friend thinks she found a place (one of the homes left standing), they want to sell it and all the furniture so she told me not to buy anything until she sees what she is keeping and what she is giving to me.....wahoo score maybe. She gets to go inside on Saturday so I might tag along with her

Going to be 80 here today but mornings are only about 45 so kind of chilly. I think laundry is in order today and my car needs a wash very badly. Velda hope you find your issue, water and electric are often hard to track down. Yay Beth made it to home base. Barbie you have more stories that I know you just cant make that stuff up LOL

Barbie, I love your stories! Please keep them coming.

My mother was a hair stylist for many years as I was growing up, I remember that she often spoke of the "drama" that went on there in the shop where she worked.

Reading your stories seems like old times to me. 8-)

Thanks!

Afternoon ladies~~~

Half past noon here in Texarkana. Cool mid-60s and sunny. I'll take it. This morning was chore day, laundry and a bit of grocery shopping. There hasn't been anything to really sightsee here, which is OK. I have been able to catch up on some paperwork.

Karen glad to hear things are starting to fall into place for you. I'd suggest to really smell any soft furniture you may take from your friends. Smoke is a hard smell to get rid of.

Velda, yes electric is hard to problem solve sometimes. Dad's a retired electrician and running new wire with him was easy peasy, but finding problems i hated to help with. But he was thorough that's for sure. Good luck.

That's it from me. Leaving Tuesday after two weeks here, and then will be circling Texas hill country for a couple of months.

Stay safe.
Cheryl

It's not 11 yet and I'm exhausted lol. Ty and I got up too early and walked while it was still in the 60’s out. Some things I had at my sisters are in my storage part of the casita. The pictures I'll assess later for possibilities on my walls. The casita is vacuumed, two loads of laundry washed and hung to dry, new table put together and in front of my window with my view v(Haha, I would take a picture but the idea is having the view of the mountains sitting there and at the moment my underwear is hanging between the window and mountains lol). I can't get one of my windows in the casita open. That'll be for another day/time. My tv got uncovered and I'm currently watching hallmark channel's Home & Family.

Cheryl, I love Texas Hill country. Enjoy. I'm hoping next time I go through there will be a spring with the blue bonnets booming. But anytime is good there.

Karen, enjoy getting things situated how you want. I hope your friend makes the right decision on the home still standing. I know you all loved it there, but the rebuilding will be constant for a long time. I'm not sure that would work for me.

Oops, Ty just cried... He tangled himself and needs assistance.

Hello All,

Rain here as well. They changed the forecast on me for today because I was finally going to get in a ride to see fall colors. Grandson and his girlfriend are coming today for the weekend. Haven't seen him in 2 years and haven't met her. They both turned 21 this year and since Leavenworth canceled Oktoberfest, we are doing our own.

Shirl, you wanted excitement. Don't know if this counts more than just a laugh, but I sat in my cheap Walmart outdoor chair and ended up with my rear almost on the ground! Thank goodness no one was around to see it. I've left the chair out in the elements and a seam rotted.

Barbie, your co-worker sounds like a real piece of work! So many just have no respect for anyone else or any common sense! Tina, glad the Road Trek is working out so well for you! Velda, my grandson in an electrician and is going to look at some wiring at my daughter's. What a puzzle for you! Beth, so glad you are safely in Arizona. Cheryl, love Texas Hill Country!

Karen, progress for you! I need to start a shopping list so I quit going over it in my head. I did buy a Roomba. I keep thinking about things like being able to hang my clothes up in a closet!

So far haven't accomplished much today. Everyone have a good weekend and be safe!

It's good to be home and not going back and forth. I had been taking a shower in the motorhome when I would come so nice to have plenty of water. lol Still have a couple of loads of laundry. It got down to 64 last night and is 76 now. Feels good. I was out picking up the trash that blew in. I was using the golf cart to pick up trash and I have two cats that like to ride on the cart with me. They aren't much help.lol I need to take all the stuff in the living room back outside. I'm getting tired of walking around it. I had brought stuff in that I didn't want to get wet or blow away. Our trash usually runs on Friday but they didn't come this morning. My trash is going to be really ripe if they don't come soon.

Karen, I know the key issues and can't find anything. I was having to keep up with keys to all the vehicles that were evacuated. Don't want to drive 30 miles and not have the right key. This morning it took me an hour to find the solar lights I took down before I left. They were in the middle of the snack bar. You think the snack bar might need to be cleaned. My car needs to be washed but I was afraid to go through the car wash yesterday with Sugar in the car. It might have freaked her out.

I love the Texas Hill Country too. Some of the small towns use to have trade days every month. Don't know with all that is going on this year if they still have them. In the spring the Blue Bonnets are something to see too. I use to go every couple of years just to see them.

On the way home yesterday I parked in the shade and made a quick trip in the grocery store for milk and eggs. I really need to go to Walmart but don't want to go. I'll never remember all the things I threw away until I look for it to cook something.

Nice to hear about the rain all of you seem to be having. No rain in sight, here. Just went out to look at my thermometer - 105 degrees. :o

I wonder if this is some kind of record here for October 16.

boy I would enjoy some of those temps ... the 105 not so sure about but the other ones sound good don't know what it got to here but right now it's 50 have the buddy running so it's about 67 inside...
that was neat that Eva sold her RV although I think it would be bitter sweet as well... but what a sad journey the dad is on... I bet though that in the future he will be glad to have those memories...
tired got up later than I wanted to so didn't start the cinnamon rolls but got the mats up and rolled up couldn't get up two nails will have to see is someone else can.. it was suppose to be windy this afternoon didn't happen thankfully and the it's suppose to rain tomorrow with winds so felt today was a good day to get the mats up... also washed Shadows throws and air dried them... and got my dolls packed up and the rear of the 5th wheel about done need to figure out where the one container needs to go I usually have a spot for it but guess something else is in the wrong place. Tomorrow I hopefully will get the cinnamon rolls done and the floor cleaned up ... decided I can vacuum when I get to Ogden... still need to trim fringe think I will do that after I get off the computer...have those out of the way so when someone agrees to take me to mom's I am ready to go ... I hate to drive the pass don't mind riding but hate to drive it myself.... not that I can't but
went up to the house and dd's door was closed to her bedroom so decided she was not wanted company waited a bit but it never opened so came home no one else appeared either... guess they were all in their rooms ...

I wish they had some rain around here--at least a couple of days worth. The little deer look skinny and you can see their ribs because of lack of good food. Plus the Virgin River has a cyanobacteria problem which is not helping their health.

I just sent updates on several of my poor-performing students to advising so they can give students suggestions for improving their grades (aka, give them a poke in the rear about getting busy and doing their assignments). So, I am now getting the emails from students as to why they have not been turning in work. Many of these are quite creative, so here are a couple:

- Student today said her fiance's grandmother had a heart attack and while she was visiting with her fiance, her laptop screen got corrupted, so she had to use her fiance's computer, but she could not remember the password, and the college help desk could not help her reset it because they could not find her student account.

- Last winter, a male student submitted a letter from his doctor about an "illness" he had had three weeks before that prevented him from turning in assignments. Doctor's letter said the student had "visited" his office on a particular date, so I looked up doctor's web page. His practice offered weight loss help, help with "male problems," medical marijuana, acne control, medical massage, dermal fillers, and various other "aesthetic services." That website has been taken down, but another says he specializes in regional anesthesiology, addition medicine, and pain control. Hmmmm. He does not accept insurance and is not affiliated with any hospitals. Obviously.
