Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday

Good afternoon to all! We had some rain the last couple of days but the sun came out a little bit ago. Fall is definitely here and the trees are beautiful this year. I kinda thought with the dryness all summer it wouldn’t be a good show of color but am gladly wrong! I came back from the beauty salon awhile ago and as I looked across to the ridges and it definitely made me want to keep driving to see more. Beth, hope you have better weather as you travel and Martha, glad you didn’t have to deal with damage to your home. Karen, hope you get to fix your new home up the way you’ll be comfortable. So much going on in the world right now. I’m grateful for what I have right now even if I do slip once in awhile and start feeling gloomy. Tina, I agree with you about using google to navigate. I find myself using it more then the gps unit I have. My camping season is pretty much over and I’m getting Lola winterized on Thursday. I’m still debating on if I want to cover her this winter or not. If I do cover her I need to have Jim help me with it while he’s here on Thursday so only have a couple of days to decide! So that’s about it in my little world! I enjoy hearing about what everyone else is doing and I am so thankful for each of you. Have a good rest of your day and stay safe.

I really overdid it today. Have been here at Zion for the past 8 days, but have spent most of my time indoors cleaning, reorganizing, and tossing stuff I no longer need. Also been grading oral presentations for my large class of 51 students. And one day, I drove to try to get someone to put air in my tires because I have one that is low. Also had to get something notarized that day, so that trip took almost a whole day because I had to drive 38 miles to do that, each way. I still have two underneath storage areas I need to pull everything out of, but that will wait until tomorrow.

So, today I decided to take a break from work and take the shuttle to the far end of Zion Canyon and walk down the river walk. It was only 85 today, but I have been really getting tired easily over the past few months. I think it is partly the altitude and partly heat, plus I got into smoke about 5 weeks ago, and that has affected my allergies and asthma. At least it seems like asthma--had two doctors disagree if I really had asthma, but for 25 years had been using inhalers until I went through CLL treatment last year. That seemed to cure my coughing and throat clearing and the constant sinus drainage down my throat, but since the smoke, it is all back. Called doctor a couple weeks ago, and she refilled my inhaler prescriptions because they were all expired in 2017. Had blood work and another cat scan in early August, and all is well.

I had walked the river walk to The Narrows a couple of times in the past, but either I am getting older or the path is getting longer because I had to rest every 100-200 feet to catch my breath. Lots of huffing and puffing, and the trail is slightly uphill. At a couple of spots, I thought I would never make it. Anyway, just discovered it was 2.2 miles round trip. Brochures list it as easy for families and kids! Ha! Did not say anything about easy for 77-year-olds! Anyway, unless I can figure out how to get more stamina, this may have been my last walk there. Am back home and resting. Drank a lot of water on the trail and back here, and now just had some dinner and a Coke for the caffeine for my headache. Might be the altitude of 4,300 feet also.

I used to worry about having a heart attack, but two and three years ago when I had cat scans, I was told that my arteries and veins were "Squeaky clean" and that my chances of a heart attack and stroke were less than 5% over the next five years. (I take So, i guess i have a few years left. No chest pain--just really out of breath. Maybe I need to get out and walk more?? (Heart has always been good, and I take Zocor and a Beta Blocker to prevent problems.)

I am not a happy camper tonight. This morning when I was leaving for work I saw the landscape guys out cutting on my willow tree behind my house. Then I saw the pile of branches on the street next to the wood chipper. I asked one of the guys what they were doing. He said trimming the tree. I said it looked more like butchering it. I told him to stop cutting on it so he told (in Spanish) the guy in the tree what I said. Well apparently the message didn't come across right and when I just got home, the tree looks like a tornado shredded it! It is awful! I need to contact who ever is in charge of the landscape committee about this, altho nothing can be done about it now. I depend on that tree to shade the back of my house in the afternoon. It is (was) also a beautiful tree to look at. Now it looks like hell! I am really pissed!

Also not happy with my coworker today. While I was in the middle of a haircut with a woman with longer layered hair, he came over and decided to tell me and her how it should be cut since he didn't think it looked good on her. It made me look like I don't know what I am doing. He showed her a photo of a haircut he did (he works at home too) and that ladies hair was nothing like this ladies hair so it made no sense what he was talking about. I don't think she was interested in his suggestion (to cut off 4 more inches) and I ignored him and kept doing what I was doing. I didn't say anything and just finished the cut, which she loved. He is barely out of school and still doesn't know what he is doing and he had the guts to do that.

OK, sorry about venting, but I just had to get that all off my chest. I am tired too so probably more crabby than normal.

I haven't heard yet if we are getting shut down again or not. Not really in the mood to watch the news tonight. If we do, I am sure I will get a text from my manager.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Another busy day. Had to fill out all the forms for FEMA to clean up the hazardous material and debris. Of course had to look up all my tax lot info and then my insurance info as in policy number, claim number, addresses for everything sheesh. Government paperwork. Just took time to track it all down.
Went to the Post Office today to see if they were holding any mail but they said no it was forwarded to my UPS box here in Medford. Third try for the Post office, tried to go Saturday they were closed, went yesterday closed Columbus day....today success. And no mail LOL

Hoping to sign papers on the house this week. We shall see.

Barbie you need to tell that guy to mind his own business. Dont let him do that to you or he will keep doing it. If that doesnt work smack him LOL

Still no power at home. I went to feed the cats and finished cleaning the refrigerator and freezer. The trash was picked up so I had some where to put the food. Moved the motorhome to the house. They are working on lines on the highway but haven't come down my road. Most of the traffic lights are working except the main light coming into Abbeville. There is power at the gas station on that corner so looks like that would be something they would fix.

I'm going to buy a generator before next hurricane season. My motorhome has a generator but it's not reliable.

I think I have seen all the cats. Three or four vents blew out of the brick work around the house so the cats are going under the house.

Martha, it's so good to hear from you! Glad you and cats are ok.
Barbie, I'm with Karen, tell that young whipper snapper to stay out of your business. Kids!
It's been warm here today, but not bad. Chris and I went to Costco, to get a new silicone nosepad on his glasses and pick up a few things. The NeilMed nasal rinse packets in box of 250, we're $4 off per box, so I grabbed 2. I use twice a day so a box about every 4-4.5 months.
Tonight I came back to my room, right after dark. Flipped light switch as I entered and got about 2 steps (in a hurry to get back to kitchen) and realized lights didn't come on! Thought, must have missed the switch, so stepped back, but nope, no lights and as I stood puzzling, I realized ceiling fan was also off. Made it to bathroom and lights there work. So I went and checked the GCFI but it wasn't tripped. Went out and looked at breakers but they appeared ok. Mel wired this room, when we added onto it, and I'd sure like to ask him some questions tonight! Called Sean, the handyman, who came over to check. Porch lights for bedroom deck are out, as well as the main bedroom lights and my ceiling fan. Obviously all same circuit. Nothing else that we checked was without power. Outlet where cpap plugs in works. And Sean has to work all day at 2 other places tomorrow, so can't get back here until Thursday morning. Sure hope we figure this out. At least I have bathroom lights. The joys of home ownership!
Sheila, hope you can soon be on the road before more bad weather. Beth its good to hear of your travel adventures.
I have Curves at noon, yay. My left eye seems to be healing, or at least it's no longer having pain, only dryness and at times is pretty much as clear as before the SK procedure.
Have a good day all.

Velda, even though a breaker wasn't showing it was tripped go through the entire panel and switch each one off and back on. Sometimes one is just a bit off an a visual check isn't enough to notice. It's going to be warm again today but much cooler tomorrow. I'm meeting friends at the lake at three tomorrow and it's going to be a bit brisk!! Oh well we like to get together once a week and so far the shelters around the lake have been a great spot. Lots of bird watching along with a lot of good conversation. Barbie, I'm with Karen speak up and tell the kid to MYOB. Sorry about your tree I understand how important the shade is.

This "kid" is 50 years old! I do need to set him straight before he does that to me or another stylist. He is kind of a know-it-all.

Martha, my handyman checked the breakers both with test meter and by resetting. Still dont know why no power to that leg but he will be here later today or early tomorrow to do in depth testing.
Barbie, he's still a kid, 50, or not, due to his immature behavior! He needs to be addressed.
