Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning, The colors will be at their peak this week here in Southern Illinois and if we don't get a big rain it will be really beautiful.
The dogs started the morning barking and they still haven't settled down. At least I didn't wake up to the smell of skunk coming through the bedroom window! Even though I was awake and got the window shut pretty fast the house had a distinct odor all day yesterday.

I was looking at a magazine this morning and saw a picture of a Border Collie that I think looks like a twin to Cheryl's lovely Punkin. Although I do think Punkin's coat is a prettier shade of brown

Good Morning All, overcast today and rain predicted for the next two days. Made a small pot of chicken broth from rotisserie chicken carcass and will add noodles for a little soup today. I sure got my money’s worth out of that $5 chicken. No plans will just putter and declutter. My horoscope said there will be stimulating conversation today. Since I only visit this site I look forward to what you have to say. :D Martha, warm thoughts. Be safe

Martha, I hope power returns shortly and you can return home. Good to hear from you BJ. Shirl, I used to buy those often. But it's been a long time.

My plans have changed... Winds could be worse but came in earlier this morning than predicted. I had intended to get ahead of them. They look much calmer all along my path the rest of the week, so I'll stay put today. I love having this flexibility. I even have electric at this little city park in a little city lol. Ty is going crazy because the squirrels are taunting him. Sunny now and upper 80's this afternoon, then rain possible a few hours tonight.

Good morning, the sun was out so decided to take Emma for a walk. By the time I got outside in my tWshirt the fog had rolled in and it was super chilly. It was a short walk for sure. Not doing much today as Sundays are always very slow for me because things I need to do and see are closed. Oh well. Still have to go out to Batteries Plus and get my new FOB. I paid for it and was expecting them to call when it came in but no call so will run out there tomorrow. Also need to go over to my storage unit and grab a couple of sweaters and sweatshirts. Of course I will have to wash the smoke smell off of them first. I dont want anymore reminders and the smell and ash really kick up my allergies.

Will be glad to do the closing on my place this week. Well except for getting that big cashiers check for escrow. Then I can schedule my carpet and bathroom remodels. Will wait on the windows until I am living there. There are lots of little jobs, like lining the cupboards and pantry while I am up there. Then need to figure out my internet and tv. Not sure whether to go with cable or Dish. We shall see.

Beth good idea to hunker down. I dont mind the rain so much but winds I really dont like. Hope Martha only has minimal damage to her place. Shirl I love those roasted chickens I get at Costco. I love how many things I can make out of one chicken. Going to make a meatloaf in my air fryer today or tomorrow. Love meatloaf sandwiches.

Well having another cup of coffee then time to get something done, the fog is starting to lift so that is good.

I think I need to start a list and put it on a daily thing perhaps I will get more done when it needs to be
Had a scare last night... Shadow will move backwards pretty quickly if startled last night for some reason unknown to me he was scooting backwards so fast that he got his tail into the buddy (which was on) didn't seem to be hurt but it sure smelled I am sure some of his tail fur was scorched... he can move backwards faster than front wards some times...

I made it to the house this afternoon. There was only a little water left on the road. The tidal surge wasn't as bad as Laura's and there wasn't even water in the old house. No damage to my house. There was a big tree that went down across the road from the house but it went into the pasture. Thank goodness! There was some damage to the barn roof but not as bad as last year.
My neighbor thinks we will have power tomorrow but I don't know. I saw a lot of tree damage and broken poles.

Shirl I just make the basic meatloaf recipe, you can add whatever spices you want. I do make a glaze with ketchup and brown sugar (dont have any of that right now so just used ketchup). I cook my meatloaf at 360° until my probe temp reads 160° usually about 15-20 minutes depending on the size of it. I only use about 1lb hamburger so makes a just right meatloaf for me. Sometimes I make meatballs, same scenario.

Karen, Emma looks so long in that new photo! She is such a sweetie pie!!

Martha, glad your house came thru OK. How are the kitties?

I had no issues with the flights today. Flew from Eugene to LA and then hopped over the mountain on another flight to Palm Springs. Only 9 passengers on the second flight. My neighbors next door picked me up. The Palm Springs airport is really small!! They let you out on the tarmac! Then you have to walk for about a block outside to get to the baggage area. Can't imagine doing that in 120* heat! Not very desert-friendly. A high school friend of my dad's designed that airport when it was first built back in 1965 in a steel and glass, mid-century modern style.

I guess it was really nice here for the past week with highs in the low 90's but now it will be over 100 again for the next week or so.

I am very tired tonight! Am in bed with Lola already. She seems happy to see me. She is laying next to me purring. Or maybe it is just because I gave her chicken when I got home. With cats, you just never know...

Gotta get up early for work tomorrow. I will probably be busy with requests after being gone for 11 days.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
