On the Road Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

On the Road Thursday

Postby Bethers » Thu Oct 08, 2020 8:34 am

Well, it will be when I get out and hooked up. It's a chilly morning so I'm not rushing. And I'm only going a few hours today. Back to my laid back traveling days.

Nothing much to post since my last so won't bore everyone. Have a great day.

Good morning Beth, safe travels. Household chores today. Odd how cluttered everything has gotten since the pandemic and it’s only four rooms. Have been searching real estate properties in the county because Of the pandemic. The gearing up to get the mail or empty trash has really gotten on my nerves. Found a cute little house and it had a virtual walk around the neighborhood. So glad because the house is across the road from the cemetery. At my age I do not want that view. I have to add my apartment building is across the road from a funeral home but I don’t see it out my window. I dropped my ballot in the box so am not going to listen or watch any more political news, talk about something getting on my nerves. Maybe it’s my age.

Have a sign that says; Wine a little, Laugh a lot. Is it too early for wine?

Those laid back traveling days are the best, Beth. Wishing you safe and enjoyable travel.

It’s back to hot and humid summer here thanks to the tropics I guess. Not expecting any storm problems here, but my heart and prayers are with those who must once again prepare for a major hurricane and its effects. I’m looking forward to the next cold front to come and give us fall temps and no humidity. What a difference that makes in my energy level. I’ve been working on my flower beds and starting a container garden for fruits and vegetables in the back yard. Waiting for the handyman to come and build a stone patio. I guess I will have to call and nag him, it’s been two weeks since we discussed it.

Can’t wait to see pictures of your new place, Karen. Hope all goes smoothly and you enjoy planning, shopping and arranging the things you want.

Wishing all a good day. Do something that will bring happiness to someone you encounter today, and the happiness will return to you.

The Roadtrek has been winterized and I picked it up yesterday. I am glad that I had my RT repair man do it this time. I had read through the manual and figured that I "could" do it but was suspicious about the looks of the low point drain. I had figured right. He said that it was on too tight and that he had had to replace it. He also said that one of the cut off values on the water heater is open and he couldn't get it to close and was afraid of breaking it. We both agreed that I wasn't interested in using the outside shower and that got turned off and will not be repaired, at least for now. I think it may be missing some parts. Anyway, he said for now he just used more antifreeze in they system and will replace the valve later when he has more time. He knew I wanted the rig back in order to pack for the dog show this weekend. So I will refill some of my water jugs and carry some RV antifreeze to flush with and be ready to roll.

I was able to put my rack on the back (The one I used on my BT Cruiser when I drove to Alaska). I think most of the dog show equipment will fit on that without hauling it into the rig. I am using all these short trips as part of my learning curve experiences to see what works for me.

I voted yesterday.....I was very impressed with the process and how the Board of Elections had planned for health, safety and crowd control. There were no crowds yesterday but there was a stead stream of citizens moving through. Having done early voting before I also noticed that they had increased staffing to try their best to get folks in and out as quickly as they could. I felt safer than I do at the stores shopping. And I really really liked when, after I slid my paper ballot into the computer reader, I received the message...your ballot has been counted.

Will be thinking of Martha and the cats. What they must wonder about these weather cycles......

Yesterday was a disappointing day. dr said my left eye is not yet healed. She removed the contavt lens bandage amd told me to use ointment twice a day for 3 weeks. Then return to check healing so she can do the right eye. Exposing the left eye by taking off the contact made it hurt a lot last night, though it's better this morning.
Had worrisome few days over last week when I learned my son, the deputy sat in a room full of officers of his department for training only to learn later that sergeant in charge tested positive for CoVid . Fortunately so far my son tests negative.
Beth have happy safe travels. Those in the storm zone stay safe.

I posted a few days ago that the temp at my house was 102. Which it was.

Opened the door this morning, it is about 70. :o

Typical for California's Central Valley. We have two seasons here. Bake your buns and freeze your a--.

Will it stay cool for the season? Probably not. There could be more 100 degrees days in the near future. Although I hope NOT.

It's looking like the predicted "chance of rain" for tomorrow and Saturday is probably going to miss us.

Velda, sorry that your eyes are not coming along as fast as you hoped.

Oh, Velda, I'm sorry. I was hoping to hear good news. Let's continue with the good thoughts for speedier healing now.

I'm at the Sam's Club in Des Moines right now. I expected to stop an hour or so short of here but I left earlier than I expected this morning so kept driving. I'm meeting my friend Conni tomorrow. I just called in case she was available now, but no... And that's not a bad thing. We'll be able to get together earlier than we expected. But neither of us are early birds, so no hurry. I just want to leave by mid afternoon to get out of the city. Liz, I'm sure she'll say hi, so I'll say hi for her now, and for you, also.

There's a fast food bbq place across from me doing a booming drive thru business. They have bbq sliders for a dollar. I may have to try them.

As to the weather, it's about 15 to 20 degrees warmer than normal in Benson. I'll be getting there to possible 90’s. I'm hoping it breaks and I only see 80’s. Luckily it cools off good overnight.

We finally got the Uhaul truck returned today. We have been out driving around exploring the area. Very beautiful with the mountains covered in pine trees. Went to a couple reservoirs for pics. We saw a black bear swimming across a creek and running thru thick grass on the other side. I got a short video but I was driving and didn't get much of him by the time I got the camera on and pointed in the right direction .

Will be meeting Karen and Laura tomorrow for lunch. Can't wait!

Martha, stay safe wherever you go for shelter.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

still at my dd's will leave tomorrow I picked up the truck late afternoon...
did some looking for family history on Ancestor think I actually found some information...
then my son text his sister to see if it would be ok for them to come up to see us and go out for some ice cream.... was really surprised it's been so long to actually sit and visit for a bit...his eldest daughter is now taller than I am she is only.... awful when important facts aren't there  just can't think of her age... I am thinking 11 but truly not sure.... she has always been tall both her parents are... so guess it stands to reason she would be.. so my youngest of my eldest daughter will be 15 tomorrow and she is only about 1/2 inch taller than her younger cousin... why can I remember her age??? well because we have been reminded of it a few times in the past few days... actually my son's eldest might be 12 one or the other...
Saturday we are going to take mom to get her hair cut and permed I believe and out to a meal... might do the meal first then hair cut then hopefully drive the long way to her home so we can see if there is still color in the area...
tired tonight think it is going to bed so very late even for me the last couple of nights.... need to over come that
enjoy you trip back to AZ Beth
hope your eye heals soon Velda
you are flying back right Barbie?
and Martha when you can check in with us
