Good Morning Monday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning Monday!

Postby JudyJB » Mon Sep 21, 2020 11:44 am

Just a quick start to the week. I have opened my new class for the fall semester and met a few students online through Zoom, so onward to Dead Horse Point SP near Moab! Got to put some water into my motorhome, as they don't have a water fill there--must truck in all water.

Going to be hot today but cooling off to lower 80s rest of the week, which is pretty good for this part of the country!!

Afternoon all, another nice day. Karen, so glad you have moved. Will give you some breathing room and time for future decisions. A plus also that there are others to talk with and hopefully have a few smiles. Martha, thinking of you and watching the weather too. Anne, I understand your concerns. I am being very cautious but do leave the apartment. I have picked one person who I trust to tell the truth about the pandemic and will not read anything else. I follow his advice and have mentally decided I will not spend whats left of my life worrying about how much I have left. I drive 20 miles to walk a mile. It is a beautiful mile and helps me mentally and physically. Maybe in another week I can manage 11/4 mile. Lol I have requested a mail in ballot but will take it to a local drop box. Please vote and try to find some peace in your day. Be safe

Good Morning, Beautiful day here. Swim pool closed for refurbishment. I walked 30 minutes on treadmill this morning. Got to keep my exercising going!

After taking a nap Saturday afternoon, I slept 12 hours that night. Then yesterday I just hung out in bed all day. Not sure why I am so tired lately. I did learn some new painting techniques on YouTube tho.

Got called in to work today to cover for a sick coworker. Pretty slow so far.

I don't know when it started but it rained lightly all morning. It's taking a break right now. It would after I got wet going to feed. It has only rained about an inch. I drove down to the boat launch, about 5 miles, to see how high the water was. It isn't over the road yet but up to the road in some places. There is a fuel dock next to the boat launch and their parking lot is under water.

My son called me almost crying because he though his dog hurt himself. They leave the back door open sometimes so the dog can come and go. He saw the dog take out like he was after something. When he looked the dog was laying in the back yard and wouldn't get up. He was afraid that maybe he got bit by a snake. I told him that he probably just slipped on the wet grass. He called me back after he checked him over and the dog is walking but with a limp. He has always walked with a limp to me. That dog won the dogie lottery. They found him half starved laying in their front yard. He looked like he had been hit by a car. They brought him to the vet and he didn't have anything broken. They love that dog so much, I hope nothing happens to him.

I need to find something constructive to do like clean house. My least favorite thing to do.

I voted this morning. SD has early voting. I was of the belief today was the first day, but it might have been Friday. I went mid-morning and from the time I parked my car till I was back in my car was maybe 15 minutes and my ballot went directly in the county ballot box. I feel good about that.

Karen, I'm glad you're in your suite and that you have friends there. I'm thinking today is going to be hard. Knowing what happened and seeing it are two different things. Keep breathing and keep your wonderful sense of humor and take your time thinking about where you might want to go.

Martha, I'm so glad your son's dog seems ok. How we dread anything happening to our fur babies.

The weather here is abnormally warm. I'm glad the nights are cooling off, though. I'm carefully watching the weather for next week, but will wait until the last minute to make my final decision on whether or not a visit to my sister in Wisconsin will happen. That and we all have to be comfortable visiting. I know we'll be careful, though.

I'm not happy with our weather people! They managed to predict 100 plus degrees starting Sunday, through the end of he month! Baa humbug! So enjoying our 88-90 degree days.
Went to Curves today. At 10% capacity, they are allowed to have 10 people, including the coaches. So I and 5 of my long time fellow members worked out today. Sure felt good! Feels safer than a grocery store where who knows who washed hands before handling stuff. Machines are washed between each person, all wearing masks, temp taken on way in and we all wash hands before we start. Feeling safe while improving health is a good thing.
My handyman Sean is nearly finished sanding, staining, and finishing the 7 doorways in my room, which Mel never got to do. Mel had most of the oak trim cut to fit and that's where it stopped. Feels so good to have it nearly complete, the way I wanted it!
We just finished watching the entire 12 year Bones series, start to finish. Sure liked their cast and ESP how they had a good satisfying happy finish, instead of killing people off, like some series do. We are hoping soon, some of our favorite shows will be back for their new seasons! Otherwise we actually have to find another series to begin.
Have a whole to do list to get done before my first eye surgery on the 30th. Won't be driving for about two weeks, so lots of stuff I need to do like get my PT smogged so can send off renewal. Groceries. Curves 3 times, including next Monday. Pet store for Mandy's favorite canned food. Costco for chicken for Miss Stormy. Making a list and checking it daily.
Karen, thinking about you today and facing that mess one last time. New things ahead. But grieving losses. Have they determined if everyone made it out of your neighborhood?

what can I say? it sorta was a do nothing day but did get laundry done and some stuff put away talked with my son in law about some things I wanted to have done I want some tie downs for bungee cords to hold down the propane tanks not only when traveling so want them near the cab but also when I am getting them filled so they don't fall over... as well as some wood to help level...
Anne I full time in that I live in my 5th wheel full time I take it down to AZ for the winter and back up to Idaho for the summer in that way I am a snow bird... I always hope that my "space" is still open when I get to the desert and my place here at my dd's is always open... as to doing what needs to be done I do go to the store but I try to make my trips count so try not to go every day the trips to Wal Mart are about 2 times a month... I always wipe down my cart grumble if they don't have wipes available but did that before this virus... when at the laundromat I try to stay away from people some go outside some stay in their cars while doing the washing
actually if you have a mask on and the person doing the pumping of the gas has one on I think it is actually safer than pumping your own and trying to remember to have something on that pump...that is something I usually forget and should try to remember... we can just do what we can do and pray for mercy..
I picked up this canister so cute thinking that I would put zip lock bags of nuts in it but as I was trying to organize my cupboard am thinking that perhaps my herb teas might be good in it and get another plastic container for the nuts ...
made popcorn think on Sunday not sure which day maybe Sat.... doesn't really matter tasted so good made some more today but followed this recipe for a spiced one has curry cumin salt and pepper pretty tasty
hope you get to enjoy visiting with your sister Beth I would imagine if the weather is good you can maintain that social distance outside with ease or inside perhaps with masks on... I still have to wear a mask when holding the baby he finds such joy in trying to pull it off...
you all take care did get my MIFI but now need to figure out how to set it up...
hopefully later tonight or tomorrow but for now it's charged and didn't take as long as the old one was doing but a lot bigger than the old one quite a difference

Stopped at Whole foods by work and picked up some tiny and cute green grapes. They are SO sweet!

Got home to a 91* house after work. Was NOT happy! Both AC units off again. I had texted the guy yesterday and he said if he isn't there when they actually shut off, there isn't much he can do. I beg to differ! I texted him tonight and told him he needs to fix it or replace it ASAP! I didn't pay almost $5K to come home to a hot house every day. He said he will be over tomorrow afternoon.

I was asked to work again tomorrow for the guy who is "sick" again. I said no. The two guys got into a fight awhile back and refused to work together. Well they got scheduled together for today and tomorrow, so I know he is just calling in sick so he doesn't have to work with the other guy. These guys are both in their 40's, and this is such childish behavior.

Bought stuff to make sloppy joes to eat for the next couple days.

It is "only" in the low 100's here now so is a bit more tolerable but will still be nicer once it gets below 100.

I went out to my house and park this morning. Took a few pics but the devastation is just immense. Not just in my park but it wiped out about 6-7 parks. Lots of houses and businesses along hwy 99 destroyed. Just so sad.

I am so sorry to see that, but I am sure it was horrible for you. Have you been able to check your storage shed? And what about your motorhome?

Karen, the photo from your back patio, am I seeing an intact building straight across where I see a White pickup?

Karen, no words can even convey what it must have been like to see all that devastation. Just looking at your pictures was heart wrenching enough. Even a steel beam was twisted in the one picture. Goes to show the tremendous heat and power of those fires. Probably not even worth bothering to sift around to see if some little thing survived. But at least you and Emma are safe. Hopefully everything in the storage building survived.

Velda that is indeed an intact home smack dab in the middle of the park. The pickup was Power truck. There are several homes along the perifery that are still standing. A few are pristine with green vegetation still there. Some have damage I dont know to what extent. There are 21 homes that are either damaged or just fine. Power company was in the park along with an owner of the park. The manager and owner were going around turning off water to each residence. They had already been to my house, dug a hole at my water shut off, painted it blue, I dunno why probably to know it was turned off. Everyone got out of our park thanks to all the local police and Sherrifs from all around. Was hard to mobilize just our local police (small town) so they were all working together. We only had one unaccounted for person but he has since been located. Most of the pets I heard about were cats. They run, they hide etc. I know my neighbor lost her dog as they werent home and I had NO time to go in there.
