Feeling like winter Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Feeling like winter Saturday

Good morning all. Been absent for awhile but trying to keep up with posts. No reason other then just nothing much to say, I guess! Temps really dropped last night, in the low 30’s! So not ready for it! I usually hold off turning on the main heat until closer to Oct 1 but not sure that’s an option this year. The house was pretty cold this morning! It was an interesting night last night. Power company had a planned outage in this area to make improvements or something and notified that it would go dark at midnight until about 8 this morning which is exactly what happened! When I looked out the window it was spooky that the whole area was dark. Plus twice the fire companies were dispatched to an empty building on the next block from me. Apparently a small fire that a homeless person started to keep warm. Luckily it was put out quickly and the whole building didn’t go up in flames and the person was relocated. Sad that in a small town I live in there are homeless people.
I’m getting ready to head out tomorrow for a few days up in elk country. Pretty sure this be the last trip this season. Unless something else strikes my fancy. Sadly it’s about time to think about winterizing. Been thinking about all of you on the west coast dealing with fires and smoke and Martha, glad storm missed you. We actually had smoke clear out here in the East. Made for some red sunsets but certainly not what others are dealing with. So that’s about all I have this morning! Stay safe and have a great week end.

Good Morning Sharon, cool on the shore too but temp not as low. Good day for a long walk on the country roads. Fixed the Aussie breakfast sandwich again, this time 350° for 7 minutes. Good but will try 6 minutes next time. Martha, I used Hormel precooked bacon (sold at Sams) so not greasy. Also liked your idea of cloth napkins for bibs. Amazon has chains with clips so no need to even sew. I keep in touch with friend Edith every day and it is hard to come up with uplifting messages since she is skinny as a rail, doesn’t cook and not interested in recipes. :) I’m certainly not skinny and don’t know what else to do with myself except try recipes. Just found another one, apple pecan loaf. Time to take a walk and stop at produce stand for corn for the freezer. Be safe

I wish you were my neighbor, I'd help you try your recipes, your apple pecan loaf sounds really good. I fall into the skinny as a rail group. I think heat will go on early a lot of places Sharon, it was 48 here this morning and I turned the electric heaters on in the family room. Feels good!

My RV was in for a check up and I had for sale signs in the window. I got 7 calls just from people driving by and seeing it on their lot! I should have put the price on it as most were shocked that the Class B's are so much.

Shirl, I was wondering where I could find something with clips. I though about the cords for eye glasses but I don't think they have clips. I don't know how many emails I get everyday with recipes. I mostly just read them and don't try them. My computer has an area called Notes and if I see something I think I might try, I copy and paste it into Notes. Maybe if I every want to cook one I might be able to find it. I use to print recipes and I couldn't find them either. If I see something I just have to try, I make it for a potluck or give some to my son. I think my son does all the cooking at his house. My neighbor cooks the old cajun things and my son ate at her house a lot growing up. She cooks what I call odd parts of animals that I won't eat. I do wish I had paid more attention to my mother-in-law's cooking. My mother wasn't the greatest cook and after my dad retired I think he did most of the cooking.

BJ, good luck selling your RV. No one wants to pay what they are worth. I would try one of the RV sale places before Marketplace. People will drive you crazy with messages and most don't know anything about an RV.

It's 74 this morning and it's sure nice. It could stay in the 70's all year. The radar shows rain just to the South East of here like yesterday. I think some places are getting a lot of rain.

P.S. back from walk, gorgeous day. Got corn will tackle that after lunch. Martha, re: chain with clips, would be good to clip your mask in between necessary wearing. I take my mask off as soon as I leave a store and carry in my hand. Going to order from Amazon and give extra to family. They don’t need a bib like me but mask holder will do. :D

Good morning!

Blue skies at last! We had a good downpour last night - and I have a leaking skylight. This morning my Ninja coffeemaker brewed the coffee all over the counter instead of into the travel mug. Have no idea how or why! Ran it again just fine.

Regarding masks - I bought a face shield and love it!

BJ, good luck with selling your RV. I'll be doing that next year and dread it.

Shirl, I'm looking forward to being somewhere for nice walks! Looks like some of us are having some cooler weather at last.

I have made a November (maybe longer) reservation in Eastern Arizona - North Clifton RV Park. It's a county park with roaming big horn sheep and javelina. Good hiking trails as well. If I wasn't waiting to see my grandson, I think I'd be on my way now. That county only has 56 total virus cases.

Have a good day and be safe!

Yes you can buy cords with clips for masks on Amazon. They also sell plastic forms to put under your mask to give you more room to breathe. I am ordering some of those.

I heard that there is another storm in the Gulf now heading for Texas. And two coming towards the east coast.

Nothing new here. Just sitting around at work. Sunny day with no wind so there isn't any smoke here. The fire is north of where I work and the smoke must be staying up that way for now.

Have a good day :D

I have one of the cords with clips for my masks and love it! Sometimes if I go for a walk I wear it just in case I meet up with someone and I also like taking it off after I leave a store. I saw those plastic forms to wear under masks on Amazon and almost ordered some let us know if you like them Barbie.

Thanks for the well wishes foe selling Elsie. I had good luck with RVTrader when I sold my other RV but I just hate to hassle with it with the virus situation. There is a really large place in a nearby town that sells RVs and I asked about consignment. They said i could bring it over and they would tell me a price, and when it sold they would buy it from me and give me the agreed upon amount. I don't think so! My brother said I should just park it at the end of the Wal Mart parking lot. The street it faces is the one to the RV place.

HI all,

Barbie, did you feel the earthquake last night? I did! Crazy!

It was a 4.5 about 15 miles from where I live. Sounded & felt like a huge truck driving right across the complex & then the shaking started! Wow! It seemed to go on forever but in reality it only lasted around 15 seconds. At least now I know what they feel like. I'm amazed with all the movement of the building there is no sign of damage or issues afterwards. Really glad the electricians who installed a ceiling fan in my living room recently mentioned how well built & sturdy this building is noting the extra strong ceiling joists that they had to drill thru for the installation.

Other than that just same old stuff here. Loving my special time with Jordi (the baby) as he is starting to walk & appreciating the ability to experience Olivia's progress in school even though it is stressful at times. So glad I'm no longer working so I can help out & just enjoy my time with them.

Happy to see clear skies once again. Looking for some of that cooler weather some of you are experiencing.
Take care out there,
Catherine

I did not feel the earthquake down here. Have felt many in the past. Welcome to California Catherine. Glad your condo was well built.

Warm here today.
Barbie, what does textured mean when describing a hair cut? I have been looking for a picture of a hair cut I like to show the person who does my next hair cut. I found one and said it was styled and textured.

BJ, you might have better luck with a PW Facebook Group ot one particularly dedicated to Class B rigs. Some even specialize in those selling rigs. The price of rigs still looked like a range but I notices that there many of the folks looking appear to have done their homework and realize that the Class Bs are in demand and hold their value. I also noticed that rigs seemed to move quickly. I does mean handling the "looky lou"s" and the clueless but it also puts in in connection with the knowledgable. And everybody likes pictures. Good Luck. There is a market out there.

No, I didn't feel any earthquake out here. The bigger one we had last year was my first one and to me it also sounded like a big truck rumbling down our street just before the house started rolling and shaking. I have since figured out the best place for me to go when we get one here...in the hallway between the kitchen and bedroom where there are no windows. I have a lot of windows in here so that is the safest place for me.

Lyn, "textured" is when the ends of the hair are cut a little uneven rather than in a straight line, so some of the hair is slightly shorter than others. The shorter hair helps support the longer hair for more body and fullness. It also helps the hair lay better and avoids lines from layering especially on longer straight and/or blonde hair. Texturizing can be done at different lengths. "Point cutting" is texturizing just the ends, and "thinning", is using a thinning shears to texturize further towards the scalp. Thinning is more for, well, thinning thicker hair. I sometimes use both techniques if needed. Just depends on the hair and the style. Any decent hair stylist should know when to texturize, but you can ask them about it. That said, I never texturize hair that is frizzy, wiry, or real course. Just makes it worse. Some stylists use a razor to texturize the hair. I find that rips the hair and damages it, causing split ends. I will only do that on really short hair (pixie style) or around the edges to make whispies. Hope I explained that OK.

I stopped at CostCo on the way home from work to see about scheduling an eye exam. They were kind of busy and I felt like I got forgotten by the guy behind the counter who asked me to have a seat. I finally just left. I will call there once I get my new phone that I can call out on. I might check with Walmart Optical too. I really need to get a new prescription. I need new glasses and don't want to order them until I get an updated prescription.

Michigan does very rarely experience earthquakes. I was walking during one in 1987, so did not feel it. However, about ten years ago, we felt an earthquake that I think I remember occurred in Montreal--it was not local. I was sitting in an office building in a conference room on the second floor with two others--one of each side of me at a round table. Frankly, we flunked earthquake safety because It started out like a low rumble and then a very slow swaying back and forth. I could watch the other two people move from side to side as I moved front to back, but there was no shaking at all. We sat and discussed what it could be for a few minutes, but by the time we decided it was an earthquake, it was over.

My son said it was a very deep earthquake that traveled through granite, which resulted in the lack of shaking, so it was a very unusual earthquake. People who were walking or standing did not feel it at all.

Have not felt the shaking kind in California yet, but did see a lot of damage from the one in Napa about 5 years ago. They have only recently repaired some buildings.
