Propping the door open for Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Propping the door open for Tuesday

Postby BirdbyBird » Tue Sep 15, 2020 9:13 am

The weather here in SW Ohio is now decided to turn to fall. I get to put sox and long pants on again. Lark wants to hit the trails and I want my back and hip to feel more like walking. I get over enthusiastic and optimistic when I head out. I have to remind myself to figure out the correct turn around spot so that I can make in back. It is wonderful though that none of my dogs have ever tried to hold how many times I might need to stop and rest against me. Then again when I hiked with Liz she never wrote down how many times she had to wait for me while climbing back up from the trail down to the beautiful waterfall....... Good friends are like that.

Stay safe out there. Enjoy some morning beverage. And given these times, no judgment if the alcohol starts earlier than usual......

Good Morning Tina and all who follow. Including today the store is open 13 more days this season. Then 3 days of inventory and vendor pickup. If all goes well, including weather I'll hit the road Oct 1st. My goal now is to simply get out of here safe, no virus. After making it this far into the season, I want to leave healthy, also. Air quality here is not good but nothing like those of you on the west coast. But it is effecting my breathing and headaches. I can't imagine what it would be like for me out there. My heart goes out to all of you. Time for me to get Ty walked and to work. Oh, oh, good news is my new hot water tank will be installed. Bad news is it's money going out at the end of my earning season. But I'll be happy to have a working water heater again!

Good morning! Air quality is improved to unhealthy 151 at moment, and that's a good thing. I'm heading to Costco, to pick up the best steak they have, for my dinner tonight !
Saw the specialist eye Dr yesterday. Was diagnosed with Epithelial basement membrane dystrophy (EBMD), which means bumpy cornea. Happens with time and age. Means also that the top epithelial layer is not adhered well to tne cornea. Surgery is local, drops to the eye, then scrapping off the damaged epithelium, smoothing the surface of the cornea, then applying antibiotic drops and steroid drops then a soft contact bandage. Contact stays put about a week, as epithelium grows and adheres to the new smooth surface. . First eye will be treated Septemaber 30, second a week later on October 7. Am told and read that pain is significant after, so narcotics, which I hate taking, will be needed and prescribed and that I may not want to be online for few days. Good news is its a permanent solution. About six weeks later, Dr will do PRK to correct the difference between my eyes in focus and the glare I'm getting even in daylight. Not happy I have to pay for it, but whatever it takes. Insurance will pay for the EBMD treatment, just not PRK. So that kind of sets my agenda for fall!
Our temperatures have moderated to a lovely mid 80's. Now if only our air would clear so we can enjoy it.
Will fix my own steak tonight. No going out to dine yet asi sure don't want to sit outside in smoke.
Take care everyone. Beth, all good wishes for completion of another successful season, in spite of circumstances!

Am at work and it is very slow. 8 hours of mostly sitting makes for a very long day!

I need to buy a new phone. Mine won't let me call out. As soon as I dial the number it disconnects the call. I am sure having issues with techy stuff lately. Hopefully I will get my AC issue fixed tomorrow.

Warm and hazy today but I don't smell smoke at all. The winds are supposed to shift tho and start blowing the heavier smoke back into the valley in the next couple days. No ash tho hopefully.

Have a good day!

Smoke is better where I am, also. AQI was 130 on Saturday and dropped to 80+ last two days, but only 34 today. I am not complaining because even 130 is relatively low, but it was really making me cough and gave me a lot of stuffiness and sinus drainage for the past week. Don't know how the people in really bad areas are managing.

Very quiet here and very few campers, and since I have to keep my daily walks really short, I have been staying inside and getting stuff done ahead for my very full classes. Normally, I don't have extra time to do this, but summer was a light load.

Also need to back up my computer since I have not done it for a couple of months. Stay safe and healthy, all.

Good afternoon. Things are looking up down here. Our fire is now 100% contained but that doesnt mean it is out...just contained. Our air is much better also 198 but still rated unhealthy. We still cannot get into our area. But my insurance agent has an aerial view of our park and I directed him some landmarks that are still there, like the pool and chimney of our beautiful clubhouse so they can confirm my house is a pile of ash. Confirmed!!! ha ha They plan on paying me off for my contents and then follow with my house value. They will also house me up to 12 months until I find a place to live. I am loving American Family Insurance. My title burnt up in the fire but he just needed confirmation that I had paid it in full so we got that in a 3 way conference call with my previous lender. Our taxes come out Nov 15th so I need to go to the tax office tomorrow and fill out the Prorated Tax due to Fire form. I am sure that will not go as smooth.

The front desk here at the hotel called to tell me I had a package. I didnt order anything so was a bit confused. I was from Chewy.com So now I knew it wasnt even for me. So Emma got prezzies today a couple of toys and a crate bed and she was very excited. It didnt have a gift card or any info on who sent it. So I am saying a thank you to whomever but feel free to let me know if you sent it. I just cannot believe all the kindness of folks on here.

I was at moms yesterday for some reason was so tired that I didn't do anything that required walking which meant I didn't come up to the house to use internet... for some reason even though I had it with me didn't even take the computer out of the bag while at mom's but did get her laundry done plants watered fridge cleaned out and we went out to eat and to the store...I don't like her stairs or her couch they both do a number on my knee's
it's dark it gets dark earlier and earlier...
it's hazy here although not as bad as it was on Sunday that was really bad
my dd was telling me that if I remember the amount correctly that there are still 2900 homes without electricity in the Salt Lake City area due to the wind storm that hit a huge area... lots of trees up rooted a cemetery one of the really old ones had lots of damage... they aren't letting anyone in there as there are I understand opened tombs
the winds were at 100 mph being classified as a cat 2 if it was in an area that got hurricanes. It's amazing what damage wind of all things can do
you all take care

Opened tombs from the wind?? :o

We got really busy the last two hours at work which was good since I was bored to tears up til then. Got some good tips again. A $20, a $10 and the rest $5's. We have very generous and appreciative customers! :D

When I got home, both AC units were off and it was 91 degrees in the house. I really gotta have that fixed tomorrow!! I can't have that happening with Lola in the house, especially when I leave for Oregon.

I picked out a phone to order. There are so many to choose from and I really don't understand what all the details mean so I hope I get a good one. I get Androids since I can't afford an i-phone. I am on a monthly plan with Total Wireless so am ordering it from them. The same phone at Amazon is $10 more. It has good ratings tho. 4 1/2 stars. :D

Off to bed. Gotta get up early to wait for the AC guy in the morning. I have the next 3 days off.

Barbara, I have had several times on previous phones, where they began acting wonky, sometimes
Iike you mentioned. Took them to my carrier and they replaced the sim card. Took like 5 min and was free. You might try taking it to tne carrier and asking about new sim card. Phones were back to normal with new sim card.
