Another lazy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another lazy Monday

Lola and I are still hanging out in bed. She has been so sweet and affectionate this morning (I think she is hungry  If she can see any tiny bit of the bottom of her food bowl between the kibble, she thinks she is about to starve to death!)

I didn't sleep well the night before. My mind was racing until about 5am. I only got about 5 hours of sleep. I slept about 10 hours last night so made up for it. Went and did a haircut on a friend yesterday and stayed to chat with him and his wife for awhile.

Today I have a few things to do around the house and also have a couple painting experiments I want to try. I got a bag of small pieces of wood to practice on so I don't wreck gourds by practicing on them if something doesn't work out right. Still need to trim nails on both me and Lola.

I added a small feather to my last gourd so it looks a little more interesting.

Martha, I hope you are in a safe place right now! Those in northern CA, stay safe from the smoke and fires too! Such a crazy and scary world we live in right now!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Still watching the weather channel. Marco doesn't look like it will be very bad. Right now they have moved Laura back to the West. That is the bad side for me. It will be pushing a tidal surge if it goes in West of here. We won't know where they are going until they do.

We moved 2 vehicles North. The cattle just left. The tractor, welding machine, 4-wheeler, mower and golf cart are on the hill. I need to call the neighbors to see if they need to use the utility trailer. If not, I will move it up on the hill. I just need to put some things in the old house that are on the old carport. You should see all the cattle trailers, boats, RV's and trailers of hay headed North. I didn't know that many cows were still down here.

When I get ready to go I need to go through the freezer and take an ice chest of meat with me to my son's. There is some cookie dough. I could cook those now. Baked cookies will keep. That sounds like a good excuse to me.

Barbie, I was thinking about fingernails yesterday. I am lucky to have fairly strong nails, as did my mother, so I have to cut them or file them down once in a while. Anyway, I was looking at my nails and it occurred to me that it did not do me much good to keep washing my nails if gunk sticks under my fingernails! So, I cut them back and filed them smooth. This way when I wash my hands, there will be no places to collect stuff under my nails.

I wish I were closer because I would head over for a haircut. (I'll be in your area in mid-November, Barbie, but I think that is too late.) The last two people who cut it really cut the back too short, so now that it has grown out, the sides are too long and it is too long right above my neck, but the hair on the back of my head is still only about an inch long!! Have also been considering putting a little color on it. My hair has been sort of frosted blond looking for the last 15 years, but is getting more grey than blond. When I use Zoom with my students, it REALLY looks white-grey, which is making me look older. Want to try something very light but temporary at first--sort of light ash blond. I don't mind grey, but it is a concern with my students, especially since I am older than most college instructors by about 10+ years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got medical bills where they have not billed my secondary insurance to take care of today and also want to setup electronic stuff for my aunt so my kids do not get mail. Almost everything but a few medical bills are set up that way.

been working on my mom's laundry hopefully the towels will get dry before I leave... that is the heaviest load levi's are in the washer so would like to get the towels dried and upstairs and levis in the dryer... went and got hot fudge sundae's still have a crown but it's looser but have an appointment tomorrow at the dentist...
my dd calls and tells me I ought to go see Aunt ..... she only lives in WA on the sound
but with having to replace a crown I am pretty sure that I won't have the excess money to go play.... but we will see after I see the dentist
my dd was talking to me the other day and said that I ought to get good at making keto cinnamon rolls... I said get the ingredients and I will make them for you....she seems to think though that I need to practice well I can't see going and paying for ingredients that I probably won't use again... she then said that she would send me the recipe so that I could study it... I said is the procedure different than normal cinnamon rolls??? she didn't think so so I don't think I need to practice on others that probably won't eat them (a picky bunch) guess we will see if I make them...
actually saw blue sky briefly looking out now it appears to be gone... I can't imagine what it is like down in CA if we have this much haze up here many miles away....

It has been a pretty pleasant day weatherwise. Cloudy, hazy, smoky....whatever I will take it. It kept the temps down, it has just now reached 86° was predicted for 94. I was even out early today, watering and trimming another large bush. Picked some tomatoes, took the dog for a walk.

Just been relaxing since after lunch. I suspect that is how the rest of the evening is going to go ha ha

The smoke is crazy where I live Sheila. Yesterday we had the worst air quality in all the areas affected by the fires in Northern California, I live in the Tri-Valley which is in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area. The valley is surrounded by mountains that are only, at most, 4 or 5 miles away. It was impossible to see any of them yesterday and today due to the thick smoke. Usually I walk for an hour or so each morning with my pups. Now, because of the extremely poor air quality, all we do is go out for as long as it takes them to do their business. The regular cloth masks used for Covid-19 are of no use in smoky conditions. I’m glad I bought a couple N95 masks last year when I was making sure I had sufficient supplies in my earthquake go bag. I sure hope they’ll be able to get all these fires under control soon.

Another very smoky day in 90's her in Northern California. Just trying to,stay busy witn stuff that doesn't take me outside. Thankfully cats are 100% indoors so are happy with their domain. Sure be glad when it ools off. Martha stay safe.
Wish I were near Barbara for a trim! I've always kept my nails short, learned the habit in nursing school. I don't even like nail polish. Dislike the feel plus my nails grow so fast polish was a waste of time.
Look forward to seemg more of your gourds Barbara.
Stay safe everyone. With nearly a million acres though put the state burning, even with over 14,000 firefighters on it, it will be a while.

I also wish Barbie was close.... I really need a haircut. I very much feel for those of you near the fires. Please stay safe. As to nails, I have bad nails which will easily crack/break, so always keep them short. I still manage to get dirt under them sometimes.

I wish I could help you all with haircuts! My nails have always been thick and strong, Most still are except for my pinky nails. Not sure why they are so thin and full of ridges but they bend and break easily. I never wear nail polish on my fingernails because it flakes off right away. I do polish my toenails and the polish stays on until it starts growing out and I need to remove it and redo it. I do have nice feet so polish makes them look even nicer.

I rearranged my living room a little but still have some work to do. Am watching Hoarders so that motivates me  Also watching Botched and Gunsmoke. Mondays are good TV days. The rest of the week is pretty much a bust.

I need to start working on the cat gourd again. I want to finish that before I go to Oregon. My friend Debbie is the one who wants it and she is also the one who will be cat sitting for me, so I will give her the cat gourd in payment for cat-sitting.
