Hair, Before, after, gone

Postby bluepinecones » Wed Jun 03, 2009 5:34 pm

I get a hair cut every few years whether I need one or not. Actually, I just whack it off now and then to donate to Locks of Love, an organization that provides wigs to children who have lost theirs to illness.

Before; hair was a bit below waist length

Snip, Snip

After initial cut

and a donation, about 15 -17 inches

Now I have to learn to comb it again, then figure out how to wear it that doesn't require much skill or time.

What gorgeous hair you have!
That's really great about donating to Locks Of Love.

Wish I had hair like that.
Hell, I wish I had any hair at all.
Did I mention I HATE menopause?

Mitch: Your photo looks like you have beautiful red hair.
Mine has started rapidly going gray since the first of the year. Once it turns a bit more not sure if they will still want donation. At my age, not sure it will grow enough to donate again anyway. Think my last hair before today was about 3 or 4 years ago.

I introduced the Locks of Love program into the prison where I work ten years ago. Many of the inmates thought that their hair would be rejected because of the gray in it. On the website it L-O-L state they will take gray hair. While it can not be used for children's wigs, it is sold to other wig makers at a fair market price and the money generated is used by Locks of Love to defray their operating expenses.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I used to work with a gal who did that. I thought it was so neat. No one would want my hair as fine and straight as it is--no body. Of course, it has a little gray now so they sure wouldn't want it. I got a haircut today. I went from short to spike!! Short spike. I am tired of it hanging on my forehead when I'm out side working. I had it spiked two years ago and I loved it. It will be grown out by fall!!

What gorgeous thick, healthy-looking hair you have/had! I would KILL for hair like that! My hair is long now, as I've been growing it for a number of years. Every time I think of cutting it off (myself, as I have always cut my own hair) I chicken out and decide I would be devastated to not be able to pull it back or pony-tail it. Grey and thin as it is, I guess I will just keep it as it is. Locks of love is a wonderful program, especially for kids who lose all their hair in chemo treatments. It's always harder on them than it is for adults, it seems.

I still see no picture of you, however! Just the back of your head! How about a face picture so I can visualize to whom I am talking??!!

Wow, gorgeous hair Blue! Both BEFORE and AFTER! Mine is turning really, really gray this year too Soos, and it's like a horse's tail so won't take color. Oh well, I remember the old days.

I'm a big believer in locks of love also, I have plans to donate mine also, but made
a promise to wait until after March 20, and now thats past I've been putting it off.
Last week my hair girl offered to cut my hair but I had to work and then she was
having surgery so its been put off again. My hair is actually as long as yours and when
I cut it I will post pictures like you did. I'm just about ready but still fear that thing
of NOT being able to just put it in a pony tail but I'm also getting tired of it just
flying all over the place and getting caught in my armpits

What a beautiful head of hair you have/had. Now that the weight has been cut off, Is your hair naturally wavy/curly or did you work with it. From the back, it looks like you could really have a snazzy do. I'm with Soos, a pic from the front would be nice. I know, there are none to be found of me either so I shouldn't talk. LOL Linda

Some fortunate child will have a beautiful wig due to your generosity of love and time. My granddaughter did that once too.

Thank you.
Ava: My niece cut my hair. She was supposed to leave it long enough for me to pin up but she want a bit too far so I discovered today. It was fine when she snipped off the ponytail; it was the followup trimming she did to even it that did me in in terms of wearing it up.
OutandAbout: No, I don't have any natural curl, just some waves. Now I don't know what I'm going to do with it until it grows back enough to pin up. I don't want a perm nor do I want to roll it every day - too much work and time. Can't just stay in hiding so will have to figure out something soon.
Soos: There is one photo of me under "Missing Person" posted Feb. 16, '09. Granted it is an old one. Once I figure out how to do something with my new hair cut, might try to get a more recent pic on here.
Glad to know so many of you already knew of Locks of Love. It truly is a great organization.
