Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Postby Othersharon » Fri Aug 14, 2020 12:39 pm

Afternoon here already and supposed to be our last really hot day. Temps to go back to more normal for August tomorrow. Sadly we haven’t gotten any of the possible rain showers here. Been mostly in the southern part of the state or all around us. I haven’t mowed my yard in several weeks. But this to shall pass and before long we’ll be complaining about the cold. I’ve been trying to accomplish some things inside but I seem to flit from thing to thing. Managed to do more purging in my closet so guess that’s something! I think this isolation and my own company is getting to me. Glad that the pup and I do occasional get out for a walk. I try to be mindful of the hot pavement for his paws and usually been going out later in the evening if and when it’s cooled off. Usually try to do walks with none or very little pavement. Rascal is getting older and is starting to have problems with weakness in his hind legs and with climbing stairs sometimes. I pulled out the ramp I got for my other dog and am trying to get him to be comfortable with it. Plus trying to remind him to be easy going upstairs and not run up them like he always wants to do or was able to do in the past.
Irmi, your crab cakes made my hungry for them. My sister in law makes really good ones and really haven’t gotten any good ones since she moved. So nothing much else happening for me. I’ve been reading the posts here and love keeping up with everyone. One thing keeping me semi sane and feeling connected to the outside world. For that I thank you all for reaching out. Stay safe and have a great week end.

Good morning (almost noon!) gals!

For Judy or others interested in those good smelling antibacterial handwipes, they are at WM on line. https://www.walmart.com/ip/G-Y-Antibact ... 1442c5dd0d

I have some haircuts to do this afternoon. Some friends of mine here at the park need haircuts again so will be going over there later.

I did finally get a deposit of $1000 to my checking account last night from unemployment. $20 short of what I was supposed to get but not gonna complain. My online message must have woke someone up there yesterday!

No end in sight here for the heat wave. Will be glad when August is over. Will start to get better in September some.

Two new fires near Los Angeles started up yesterday. One I think is fairly under control but the other one is gonna be bad and is near a lot of housing developments in the hills. It's gonna be a long fire season this year!

Have a good day! :D

Not extremely hot yet, but worried about tomorrow. I need to get a side curtain from Camping World so my refrigerator is in the shade on these hot days.

Got something to complain about, so you can quit here and go on to the next message, I have ended up having to sign a lot of legal documents. Most of them I can sign electronically, but I am getting irritated by realtors and lawyers thinking that I have an office and am sitting all day staring at my computer screen. So, they send me something to sign and then call me in an hour or so to see if I am having problems signing it. So, I have to respond to the text or phone call (often when I am driving I pull over) and explain that I live in a motorhome and am mostly retired so do not have 24 hour per day access to my computer.

They also expect that I have a printer handy and can just walk over to it to print or scan something. I do have a printer, but in this bouncing vehicle, it gets stored in its original packing and box and stuffed under my rear dinette. Getting it out involves moving things, dragging it out, setting it up, finding the cords and paper, and finally printing something. We have sold two of my aunt and uncle's properties and are going to be closing on the last one soon. Will be glad to be rid of them all.

Judy, at least the aggravation has some positive outcomes. I think those situations is when I go into that I think of as "plow horse" mode...I just keep plugging away until the way is clear........I even have a hard working school horse I knew when I was in high school working at the stables that I imagine. She was half draft/half quarter....she was strong and patient and even on those long, hot, summer days...she kept moving...just not fast.....

Tina, your description of your horse sounds like me. I just plod along, not fast but try to keep moving.

I brought Annie to get a shot for her allergy before she chews her butt off. I almost forgot it's Friday and picked up my fish dinner. Went to the post office and dropped off a bag of clothes at the donation place. Yea me. I was digging in the closet this morning and found some things I could live without. I dropped off a full bag but just remembered something I wanted to bring.

I wanted to mow Sugar's yard but it rained again before the morning dew had dried.

Good evening friends!

Sharon, Beth, Martha and others that have mentioned me making crab cakes, these things do not have filler. Since fresh crab meat is not always available in FL, we purchase lots of half bushels of crabs in MD to make up for the dry spell while we're snow birding.

Judy, I feel your pain. I have e-signed for two settlements and found out today we may have to do that again since we'll be leaving to head south in about a month. We do what we can when we're not underway. Congratulations for the reports on your health!

Have a good night everyone!

actually did more than sit and read or work on my Swedish Weave  I had my grandson remove a monitor from the cupboard in the bathroom... when we moved into the 5th wheel my husband put in a monitor to see who was at the door... then he sideswiped a tree and removed the devise that see's who is on the steps.... so it hasn't worked in many years... I decided that I could use that space taken with it and the cord for tp.. it was usually scrunched up to get in there... and I found some of the pine scent that Larry liked and got rid of it wiped the shelves off now I have a framed hole to figure out what to do with... it would be nice if one of his paintings was small enough to put there... :)
also doing a batch of laundry not going to do the other it can wait till tomorrow... and the tanks got pumped out.... really need to get the black water valve replaced might as well have the other one done at the same time.... guess we will see what can be done and at what cost had a hard time getting it in... need to remember to add water when I go back out (I was on my way to the house to do that load of laundry) when he came so didn't go back in when they finish drying will take care of it then guess I also ought to make sure that he closed the grey water for the sink as well...
I had some cloth from NorWex I think is the name heard that they could clean the screen well so tried it today looks amazing and then I cleaned the door to the bath room amazing the smudges came off with just water... glad I got the cloth
going to play a couple of games of whatever the game is called then head home eat a salad I guess... got the best grapes from walmart the other day so juicy
you all have a great day
oh I watched a video on making crab cakes today from Natasha's kitchen looked really good she uses very little filler as well ... like 1/2 C. panko if I remember right and lots of lump crab

Sheila, a couple days ago, I was putting together the ingredients for crab cakes and I used three pounds of crab meat and used maybe 1/4 cup of Italian seasoned bread crumbs. I also added 3 eggs, Bay Seasoning, Worchestershire sauce and mayonnaise. The 1/4 cup of bread crumbs was for all three pounds of crab meat. If your recipe was for 3 pounds of crab meat, I'd still complain, but never use that much for one pound. This is only coming from a Marylander.

Irmi, 3 pounds of crab meat here would be $75. I know you pick your own but enough crabs to pick would not be cheap either. Our crabs are probably not as large as yours.

Sheila, what is the name/brand of the grapes you bought? I have the hardest time finding sweet grapes! I end up throwing them out because they are so bitter. (I am afraid to test one in the store for fear of getting charged for shoplifting and in case someone else has been touching the grapes too!)d

I did 2 haircuts and a bang trim today and got $60 for them! Dave (Debbie's hubby) was out of town so will cut his hair sometime next week.

Stopped to visit with my other friend Candiss. She is moving to Oregon in September. She is hoping to sell her place soon but will rent it out if it doesn't sell right away. She has another older friend who was going to drive the U-Haul truck up to Oregon with Candiss and her two little dogs but she says her friend is getting very nervous about driving the truck all that way and then driving a rental car all the way back. I told her I am itching for a road trip and have never been to Oregon and I have a lot of experience driving on the road and with U-Haul trucks. I offered to drive for her if her friend isn't comfortable doing so. She is going to see what her friend says and let me know. She is moving to Cottage Grove, OR just south of Eugene. If I drive her, we will leave around the 12th of September. She wants to do it in two days but I can't drive 8+ hours per day, especially in a truck. I could do it in 3 days. She said she will pay for the rental car to come back with, plus gas. So will see what happens. I sure would love a chance to see Oregon, even for a short visit!

I have a headache tonight so will probably go to bed early. I need to stop at the library tomorrow to drop off and pick up a couple books.

There is a new grape on the market that my son says tastes like cotton candy. They are really sweet and good. We found some last year in Lafayette. I think the name on the package was "Carnival." I have never seen them in Abbeville. They are a little more yellow than green.

I think I saw ones with that name once at WM. I should have tried them. Haven't seen them since then.

I never buy red grapes. Are they usually sweeter than green grapes?

I always used to prefer green grapes. But the last couple years I've been finding the red grapes usually sweeter. I'm thinking it depends on which are riper but I certainly can't tell by looking at them.
