So here it is Monday afternoon already and I’ve accomplished nothing so far. My 4th was much quieter then I thought it would be. I had anticipated more fireworks then there were. Probably ran out from the days before since they’ve been going off almost every evening for a couple of weeks. So no complaints here! Beth, sounds like you made it through the 4th intact! Anne, glad your pup is recovering from it all. My guy doesn’t do well with thunder or fireworks either. I’ve been on the phone with a friend making plans for our camping next week. I just pulled up the weather report and it looks like we’ll be setting up in the rain the first day and the rest of the time temps won’t be what we’re supposed to get this week which is a good thing. They tend it eat more “real” meals then I do so we’re figuring what to take. They eat breakfast and I told her they’re on their own there since I’m not a big breakfast eater! So that’s about all the news from my side of the country! Have a great day and enjoy it wherever or whatever you do.

Just eating a very, very late breakfast. I slept in and was getting stuff out to cook when I heard thunder. Looked at my cell phone weather app and realized I had better watch it. Still puttering around in my nightgown and the rain started. Radar app showed some dark red and pink, so I figured I better drop everything and put the slides in FAST!!!!

Pushed stuff around to put in slides and got them in just in time. It has been a couple of years, but once had a wind and rain storm tear my slide toppers, so wanted to prevent that again. (Lesson-learned is to put slides in if big storm is coming.) Then figured I better get some clothes on because by now it was hailing and really dark outside. Got dressed and then realized I was walking in puddles on rain that had come in beneath my one slide, so started mopping up! Amazing how much water can come in through a closed slide. Storm did not last long, but it is times like this that I am glad I am not in a popup or any kind of camper that has canvas.

I am in a campground about 60 miles west of Fargo, ND, and going to spend a couple of days here before moving on west. Got to meet my California kids in Farragut SP on July 21. Oh, and yesterday, as I was dumping my tanks at the previous campground, I walked too close to my rig and hit my arm on one of the things that holds doors open--got a skin tear. Did not bleed much, but it looks awful and hurts more today than yesterday. Still seeping so need to change the band-aid later this afternoon. Luckily, I carry a lot of first-aid stuff. I hate skin tears. My mother used to get a lot of them as her skin got more fragile, and it is concerning that now I am getting them once in a while. Just HATE getting older!!

Beth, what is the deal with a shortage of coins? I saw a notice at my bank too that they are short on coins.

Annie, glad you & the pups survived the 4th of July.

The LA area was crazy with fireworks! I think most, if not all, professional displays were cancelled so individuals stepped up their displays. Everywhere you looked the sky was lit up. Sounded like a war zone. Sadie isn't bothered by all the noise, plus she was in the condo while we were at my son's house. My city doesn't allow any fireworks, but his allows some - folks set them up in the streets so we got to enjoy them without going anywhere or spending a dime.

Just got back from a road trip to KS to retrieve the remainder of my stuff I left behind about a week ago. The trip was somewhat uneventful except Sadie wouldn't eat anything the frst 2 days on the road & on the 3rd day stopped taking fluids. I stopped at a vet clinic in a small KS town & had a great experience. Vet & staff were super-friendly- had cats wandering in the lobby, which Sadie enjoyed interacting with - all very low-key. Ended up she had a bacterial infection - vet gave her antibiotic injection & a prescription. She was better by the time we got to Kansas City. Loved this little clinic & everyone in it. Wonder if there are any small towns in CA like that...

Now sorting thru the stuff I brought back with me. Discovered a few treasures that I had packed away 4 years ago. Putting each kid's things in their buckets/bins then will give them theirs at some point. Youngest 2 kids definitely have lots more than the older 2.

Barbie, My local Sprouts had a note on their door about the shortage of coins too. On their cash registers a sign says they can't give change back - pay on credit/debit card or exact change if paying by cash. I stopped using cash with Covid-19 so I wonder if everyone else did too. Glad our laundry rooms use a laundry card rather than coins.

I know where all the coins are. They were in my uncle's house in GA, but my niece took several plastic bags to the bank a couple of weeks ago for me. Weighed more than 20 pounds. I had brought them from Georgia and was getting tired of trying to get rid of them. Total of $57 worth of nickles, dimes, and pennies, but the realtor was cleaning out the rest of the house and found four large coffee cans also full of coins! (I kept quite a few quarters for laundry.)

I don't why people save coins. Need to take them into the bank occasionally, especially pennies as copper is in short supply world-wide. I think men do this, so go through your homes and the homes of older men in your life and find all those bags and jars of coins and then take them to the bank!! You will also save the government the cost of making more.

I have a container full of coins. I usually take them to WM to the coin machine there, but I think I will take them in to work and trade them in for bills as needed.

Very hot today again. 115* so am hunkered down at home since I got off work. Did stop for pizza and a few groceries.

I gave an older woman a haircut today and afterward she accused me of giving her a lesbian haircut! She was upset that everyone was now going to think she was a lesbian. I apologized but told her I gave her just what she had asked for and lots of other women have the same style so I didn't think it looked that way. She still gave me a 6 dollar tip. I am not sure what a lesbian haircut looks like. I cut it with whispy fringes around the ears and neck (which she asked for) so it looks very feminine.

I made it back from the lake this afternoon. Whew, three days with my sister is about the limit. She doesn't get around very well at all and I'm so afraid she is going to fall when we are camping. My ears need a rest, she never shuts up.

I have been going to the same campground for over 25 years and there were more people there for the 4th than I have ever seen. There was a boat parade Saturday morning and there were boats for as far as I could see both ways. I heard that the campgrounds with boat launches were not happy because every boat has a truck and trailer that has to be parked somewhere. If Trump wanted to see his supporters he should have gone to Toledo Bend. I have never seen so many Trump banners and some Confederate Flags. The campground changed hands a few years ago and the clientele has sure changed. It's Redneck central. We just fished and minded our own business. There was a firework show at the campground and you could see fire works up and down and across the lake. The campground owner had let his son park right beside me with a big 5th wheel. There has always been a problem with low electricity when there are a lot of people there and we had a problem several times. The guy keeps telling me that he put all new wire but you should see the POS breaker box. It's as old as I am. The breakers are upside down so when they are off they look like they should be on. Everyone that messes with the box turns the electricity off. At least he put my plug in on a pole. It had been on a tree for years.

The weather for the 4th was beautiful. It had rained on me all the way there Friday. Last night it started storming about 2:00 and woke me up. I couldn't go back to sleep until about 5:00. When I got home it had rained almost 4 inches. The grass needs to be mowed but that's not going to happen for a few days. My camper is ready so will go pick it up tomorrow. Supposedly the problem was a wire that was disconnected at the inverter.

I have some rolls of coins on my desk but haven't brought them to the bank because I wan't sure they would take them. I hate to be digging in my purse for change so when it gets too heavy I put a hand full of coins in a cup. When the cup gets full I roll them. Recently I have noticed that when I cash a check I have been getting new money.

Catherine, I miss those midwest storms too. A good garden variety thunderstorm with a nice refreshing rain! Smells so good afterward!

Maybe people are hoarding coins like they did with toilet paper!

Sounds like the Canadians might be able to come down next season if the restriction for crossing the boarder is lifted by then. Someone from my park posted on FB that it looks like the insurance in Canada will cover them if they should get the virus while they are here. Will see how that goes by fall/winter.

Off to bed early again tonight since I open (and close) tomorrow, so will be an early start and a long day.

Barbie, we have an old camper trailer that is parked permanently at the lake. We can walk out about 50 feet and sit on the side of the lake and fish. The only problem is that it's 175 miles from my house. The drive didn't use to bother me but I am liking it less and less. I like to be able to go in my motorhome because it is well stocked. Walmart is 40 miles from the camp if we forget anything.
