A Quiet Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A Quiet Sunday

Postby JudyJB » Sun Jul 05, 2020 6:49 pm

Have to post something to keep this alive. I drove 220 miles today and made it to a campground about 60 miles west of Fargo, SD, so it really feels like I am back on the road. Was a little upset yesterday because the campground had closed the laundry. OK, I understand they don't want people to congregate, but in a small campground laundry?? And this means I either have to go to a commercial laundromat, which is a very bad solution, or just hope I have enough clothing to last a few more days. No laundry in this campground, so will hope for next stop. Glad I did a load when I was at my niece's at least!! And people wonder why I carry around so many shorts and t-shirts!

Hot today but supposed to rain tonight and be a little cooler tomorrow.

Judy, you should swing down to Keystone to visit with Beth and Linda for a bit. There is a nice little campground right behind the store they work at. If you happen to be going thru Bozeman, there is a nice little campground just east of town on I-90 called Bozeman Trail Campground. That is where I spent 4 or 5 nights while waiting for my Jeep to get fixed. The owners are a super nice couple and it isn't too expensive, no frills park but full hook-ups.

My golf cart died on the way to the cook-out yesterday but got it started up and plugged it in once I got there. The charging gauge said it was still half way charged, and once I left, it still said that. I plugged it in today at home and left it all day. Still says half-way charged. I checked the water in the batteries and they are all full just to be sure it wasn't acting up from low water. I am thinking the gauge isn't working and is stuck on the half-way point. It seems to be running OK now altho I haven't tested it much yet. Too hot to be outside for a ride around the park.

Nothing much going on today. Slept in, did some reading, made brownies, and watched some Gun Smoke reruns and a GS movie where Matt Dillon learns he has a daughter from a love affair he had 20 years earlier. (I really need to get a life, huh? ). I have always been fascinated with the wild west.

In bed early tonight since I have to open the shop in the morning.

I almost forgot...I called my older brother David and his wife Julie this afternoon. I have been thinking about David for the past week or so and decided to see how he is doing. They have been in Phoenix for almost a year now. It was nice to talk to both of them. David sounds really good and always seems really happy to hear from me. I guess they are thinking of moving to Tucson next winter. They have good friends down there and that would be good for David to have a buddy to hang out with and talk about boats with (they were both really into antique outboard boats and motors and in a club together). I hope they can do that. I think he feels a bit lost now with not knowing anyone in Phoenix other than Julies son. I would rather visit them in Tucson than Phoenix anyways.

I am a little miffed because I asked him if he has talked to my other brother Paul and his wife recently. He said he hasn't heard from them for a really long time. After getting the third degree (in extremely nasty e-mails) from Paul and Maryann about not attending the wedding a year ago because "the family needs to stick together and with David's health so bad, the next time we get together, there will probably be a casket involved and you will be sorry, and shame on you for being selfish and not caring enough about David to be there", etc...Well, I have seen David once (would have gone again this spring if not for the virus), and called him many times since then, but there have been no visits or phone calls from Paul at all since then. What a couple of hypocrites! David and Paul used to be very close so I am sure David is sad about that. I plan to go visit them as soon as things are safe enough to do so.

Laundromats that aren't using credit cards or getting enough quarters to self supply, might be closing, too. Banks have been cutting back on individual accounts getting rolled coin. Today the store couldn't get any. But they were willing to take our loose coin we normally deposit from the laundromat and roll it and return it to me. My boss intends to hit other branches and another bank with a business account and see if he can scrounge up the necessary coin. We could end up needing to only take credit cards for sales and hope the quarters we receive in the machines are enough to self-sustain the laundromat.
