Friday the 3rd

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday the 3rd

Postby Bethers » Fri Jul 03, 2020 10:55 am

I was at work at 5. Worked non-stop for about 3 1/2 hours before easing off. And now I'm home for a few hours. We have no real idea what today will bring. But we're as prepared as we can be.

Stay safe and have a good day Beth. I read protestors are headed to Sturgis on news a few days ago.
We are having another quiet day here in my area. I had YAG laser for left eye Wednesday, so I'm busy for a little whle with my added eye drop routine. Fortunately that's only a few days more. I'm also testing Cequa (same as Cyclosporine) eye drops for my dry eye issues. Not sure I want to go for a long term $50 a month copay for at least a year. Not sure the burning stinging and tearing are worth it. Anyone use that or Restasis? Happy with results?
I need to make my Aloha sweet potato salad for tomorrow and Chrus wants help with a pie mix in a box he bought to put in graham crust he also got. That amd spot cleaning carpet will keep me busy.
Have a safe holiday everyone.

Good afternoon from hot Northern Michigan. It is way too warm here. We have been in the upper 80s for almost 2 weeks now. Fortunately the humidity levels have not matched the temperatures, so it has been bearable in that respect. Doesn’t look like any end in sight either. No rain in sight either unless a shower pops up or something. The one nice thing is, the nights have been cooling down to around 60 so, good sleeping weather for the most part. I like many others up here, do not have air-conditioning, but my house for the most part is staying fairly comfortable. There has been just enough of a breeze that I have kept the windows open even as hot as it has been and because it’s kind of in the shade it’s kept the temperatures in the house in the upper 70s. Then at night I leave my living room windows open, my bedroom window open with the fan in the window pulling in the cooler night air so that by morning my house is back back to about 70° at which point I close it up. And sogoes the cycle. But todsy it is finally getting to the point where I dragged out my portable air conditioner.

Needless to say, I have not been accomplishing much around here. Got some projects that are kind of on hold until things sometime cool down. And this, being a holiday weekend there are a zillion people up here. The traffic on I-75 has been heavy for three days. The Mackinac bridge has been backed up they entire length of the bridge and beyond and there is traffic everywhere. This does not bode good as there will definitely be increase in virus cases when this weekend is over. There are already five possible Colvin 19 Exposure sites sites since Wednesday in the northern part of Michigan. Our cases jumped over 500 a day the other day. I have not yet seen what today’s are. A Covid exposure site at a bar in East Lansing has infected over 100 people and prompted the Govenor to issue an executive order to close all the bars in the southern part of Michigan again. They can still use outside seating but they cannot use inside. This is regular bars Not bars are part of restaurants or something. The other regions of the state were supposed to have an up to Phase 5 for the Fourth of July weekend but she has decided not to do so. My region and tbe Upper Peninsula are in Phase 5, but if cases Start getting too bad up here, we may have to go back down too.

I took my trailer in to be Dewinterized and have some other routine maintenance stuff down on it this week. Because the place is only working part time I don’t know if they will get to work On it until next week. But in the meantime, if I hear of thingS beginning to i crease too much, I am going to bring it back home and forget about it. I do not want to go camping if the weather is going to be this hot either. Can’t see paying for a campsite to spend my time sitting inside with air-conditioning.

Beth, good luck at the store this weekend, I hope all goes well. I’ve been hearing that the Indian tribes are not happy about the fireworks being held at Mt. Rushmore. Our local fireworks are going to be going off tonight too, which is crazy. They shoot them off from the county park on Otsego Lake, but because of the Covid restrictions on large gatherings, they have closed the park to all but the registered campers for the fireworks. And the state park on the opposite side of the lake is not going to allow anyone in past the 10 PM closure tine for the Dsy Use area. That is leaving people with very little options to watch the fireworks unless they live on the lake or have friends Or family on the lake. . I heard that if they park along the highway that they are going to be ticketed, so we’ll see what happens..

Velda, that’s a pretty expensive copay for eyedrops. I don’t know if I would want to do that either, considering the side effects. Hopefully they’ll find something that will work for you.

So that’s about all that’s going on around here right now. Have a good afternoon and evening everyone.

I'm in northern Minnesota and it is 88 right now. Usually, I get an open campsite so I can get satellite TV, but I am happy to be in a wooded area for tonight and tomorrow. Without the sunshine beating down on me, my AC is doing quite well.

Have not heard any booms, but I just got here. Anne, why don't you pack some stuff up and find a forest service campground that is isolated to get away from the booms? I know the state and commercial parks would be full and people would be shooting stuff off, but there must be somewhere you could go for a couple of nights.

Oh and the Covid cases from the East Lansing college student parties is now at 158.
