Thursday the second

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday the second

Postby asirimarco » Thu Jul 02, 2020 11:27 am

Good morning all. Surprised no one is here yet. I woke up thinking it was Saturday and wondering why the local news was on so early. Had a delivery from Walmart this a.m. right on time BUT we got someone else s bag [ called Walmart but they could npt reach driver. Also cannot return delivered bag ours or not, and nothing in it we would want.] and DID NOT GET THE COFFEE POT we ordered. I should have been out there when the delivery came but wasn't and Bill didn't notice until the guy left. So called and got a refund and reordered it and supposed to be delivered this afternoon.
The handyman finally showed up to fix some outside repairs the HOA dinged us on. And to replace a piece of rain gutter. We won't here from the home owners insurance about the floor repair until early next week.
I still can't get my mind to believe it is only Thursday - long, long week.
Waiting now for our prescriptions to be delivered. Kind of nervous about it. For sure going to check it before delivery person leaves.
Weather today is going over 100 again, it has been nice when only in 90's for a few days. Also wind is supposed to pick back up.
We are hoping that by August we can get into the RV and go somewhere - any where!
Everyone out there stay safe and sane.

Afternoon, another lazy morning. Waiting for a call from son who is picking up soft crabs for me. I’ll drive to his house, stop at produce stand and then will be in for the holiday.

BJ, a question about vitamin D. You say your ten minutes in the sun. How much of your body is exposed to the sun, face, arms, legs, naked? I can not do naked on the balcony since it faces the street. This is a serious question. :) I take vit. D supplement but sun would be better.

Although I am out in the sun, jogging in the pool,4/5 times per week, I also take 10,000 IU ofD3 ever6 day. It is recommended too have a base line blood test done prior to taking D3, which I did. Lyn

I guess I'm as prepared as I can be for the zoo that'll be happening here tomorrow. First, I have to be at the store for our largest, to-date this year, grocery delivery tomorrow at 5 a.m. They were the only supplier who didn't plan for delivering a day or so early this week. I finally convinced them they wouldn't want to be competing with the zillions coming to Mt Rushmore tomorrow (even though it'll be closed till later in the afternoon and only for ticket holders). Roads are being closed at midnight tonight in preparation for tomorrow, etc. Two employees who were scheduled for tomorrow off have agreed to also come in and help me at 5! They are saints! With the two scheduled to open at 7, hopefully we can get these groceries all up quickly. At least before the masses are coming. It's going to be insane and I'd like to snap my fingers and have this weekend over. I promise I'll be wearing my shield when the store is open.

I'm in bed now trying to convince myself I'm tired. I'd sure like to get some sleep, but am afraid I'll hardly sleep at all in fear of missing my alarm. And I'll probably work all day and through the fireworks tomorrow night on adrenalin. Then maybe I can collapse. Lol

Enough about me and this insane day. I wish you all a peaceful day tomorrow and a good night's sleep tonight.

As to d vitamins, I take 1600 iu with my calcium plus whatever is in my morning mix.

Beth, hope you make the weekend without any trouble. I don't know what it is about setting an alarm. I wake up at 3:00 and can't go back to sleep.

Sheila, glad your truck engine is ok. I know you are relieved.

I didn't get my motorhome back so having to go to the lake in the car tomorrow. I'm sure I will forget half the things I need. I'm so use to having everything in the camper. My knee braces are in the camper so hope I don't need them. I brought Sugar to the vet for them to board her. She is so happy to go for a ride but not to the vet's. She has her second heart worm treatment on Monday so I can wait until Monday to come home if I want to. There is rain predicted starting tomorrow but hopefully it won't rain too much. I can't think of anything I want to cook this weekend. I am really tired of cooking.

I just watched the Ken Burns show about Country Music again. I have probably seen it 3 or 4 times. Better than anything else that is on.

Just midnight here. Have been busy today! I worked on the kitchen almost all day (between Gunsmoke episodes :D ). Got caught up with my dishes, cleaned the counters and stove, put my old microwave on the counter until I get the built in one fixed. Sorted thru my dishes and got rid of some stuff. Still need to go thru more stuff to get rid of but am happy about the progress I made. I joined a FB group on decluttering and it is very motivating! They give you daily projects that only take between 10 minutes to maybe an hour so it isn't so overwhelming. People post before and after pics which help a lot too. The woman who runs the group has lots of great ideas and is very motivating and non-judgmental.

I think I got bit by a fire ant yesterday. I have a bite on my foot that is all swollen and very itchy! Still don't know where they are coming from since the nest in my yard was taken care of. They must have a nest in the neighbors yard cause I still see them all over the place.

Someone here is having a small cookout for the 4th so I might join them. They want everyone to bring their own bun and condiments and they will provide the burgers and small bags of chips. I don't know these people and I don't think too many are going but will be nice to get out a bit. Will be careful with social distancing. They are doing a golf cart parade but I am not going to buy decorations for that. Will just eat, chat and go back home.

I work from 8-5 tomorrow so will be a long day. It has been really dead tho so will mostly be sitting around all day. I have some books at work that I can read. Makes the time go faster.

Off to bed...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

No I don't do naked   I just wear my T-shirt and knee length pants. The acupuncture woman I see who is also a medical doctor suggested I go out in the sun for 15 minutes a day. I avoid the hottest part of the day and these last few days it has been too humid to be out at all!! My levels are low but the vitamins hurt my stomach. Also it isn't safe to self medicate. You need to get a blood test and re test when your doctor recommends. Vitamin D is one that stores in the body and in too high amounts is toxic. At least that is what I was told.

Beth I ordered some face shields and thought I could just wear that without a mask. Yesterday my friend who works in a place where she has to know all the Covid rules said you have to wear both. The shield only protects your eyes but you also need the mask. Several of the people who work at the Co op grocery here wear both. I hope you can stay safe and sane during the weekend. I'm sure it will be a challenge. Do you have a sign asking people to wear a mask?

I read about the students at a college in Tuscaloosa AL who had a Covid party and invited people who had tested positive! They collected money to give as a prize to the first person who contacted the virus. Hard to believe!!! i think the University, it didn't say which one should expel the students who attended for being stupid. Plus they should do tracing an if anyone dies charge them with some type of manslaughter. I don't know if there is any hope for this to end anytime soon.

BJ, the shield had a higher rating alone than the mask alone does. Sure, both together would be even better, but if only one or the other, the shield is better. If you only wanted eye protection the shield is overkill. Goggles would work there. The CDC does recommend cloth masks over shields but then says " if people decide to wear a face shield without a mask, the face shield should wrap around the sides of the face and extend below the chin." Mine does. And "health experts say shields appear to be very effective at preventing infection — maybe even more effective than masks — for someone going about regular daily activities and not in a high-risk health care setting." Amesh Adalja, M.D., a pandemic preparedness expert at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, says, “There's a lot of at least biological possibility to suspect that [shields] are definitely better than homemade face masks, and maybe even better than other types of masks as well, because they not only prevent you from spreading it … [and] because it also covers your eyes, it provides more protection to the mucus membranes of your face where you might be getting infected.”

Beth, where did you get face shield, I've been looking for them. I think it would be better option for my son ESP.

Velda, it probably could be made for under $1, and there are cheaper ones, but this is what I purchased on Amazon. And I'm quite happy with it. I clean it daily (or more often as needed) by squirting alcohol on a soft cloth. I lie it on another soft cloth (yes, I scratched one, not terrible, but it of stupidity lol)
