Nice Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Nice Tuesday Morning

Postby BarbaraRose » Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:53 am

Another nice breezy, cool night with the windows open! Last one tho, as the temps go up significantly now thru the week.

I am on hold for a COVID-19 test appointment. They open the phone lines at 7:30am. I called every 10 seconds from 7:28 to 7:30 to get in right away. I have now been on hold for 10 minutes! How did that many people get in ahead of me right at 7:30? I just want to get tested again to be sure I am OK. I feel fine but the cases in my county have skyrocketed over the past week or so, so just want peace of mind for me and my customers. Some are asking if we have been tested. They have closed all the bars here and the beaches. LA county had 4000 new cases just on Wednesday! Riverside county (mine) is not far behind. Hospitals here are nearing capacity. Not good at all! :o

Stopped to pick up spaghetti for lunch on the way home from work yesterday from a place I haven't been to before. The spaghetti was really good and there is enough left over for lunch today. I go in to work at noon and then have the next 2 days off. I work on Friday all day and then have 3 days off. 4th of July will just be another regular day around here, altho I keep hearing fireworks going off at night around here. With the high winds we have been having, that is really a bad idea!

Maya is doing well with her foster family. Lola has been doing really good here too, altho had some diarrhea this morning. Will have to subQ her tonight since she gets dehydrated from that. Not sure what triggered that. She has been doing so good lately. No difference in food, water, etc. She coughed up a furball overnight which is the first one in months since she stopped grooming herself. She has started to groom herself again a little bit in the past week or so which is a good sign too.

It's been 20 minutes and I am still on hold... I hope I can get an appointment in the next couple days, altho I will take whatever they have available since I am not having any symptoms and just doing this to be cautious. I heard some testing places have lines of cars waiting for hours even with appointments.

Have a good day and stay safe!

**finally got thru and have an appointment for 7am tomorrow morning. Hopefully, won't have to wait too long at that time of day!

Barbie, hope you can get your test without having to wait a long time. They show big lines of cars on TV. They move the test sites around here everyday. I was lucky enough to get a thermometer before they sold out. I get up and drink two big cups of hot coffee then I think I have a fever. lol This virus is going to make me a hypochondriac. Yesterday I put hand sanitizer on at least 10 time going to the dentist in Lafayette. I had stopped at my favorite convince store that has clean bathrooms. They have soft serve ice cream and they had watermelon sorbet. It's a good thing we don't have that in Abbeville or I would be having it everyday.

I brought Rascal to the vet this morning. The vet says he has a fly larva in his neck and will have to sedate him later this afternoon and remove it. It is always something with these cats.

I am waiting on my neighbor to call so I can get a ride home from the shop. I have to bring the Mazda in, the air conditioner isn't cooling. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to call them because it's under warranty. Still no word on my motorhome. I'm going to call them this afternoon for an update.

Barb, you do realize that the test only tells you if you have the virus on THAT PARTICILAR DAY. So you can be tested one day on which you would be clear but the day after you tested you could have been exposed. Its good to test but its not infallible. Take care of yourself. Because of the extreme rise in cases here in Texas because our stupid governor listened to trump, I'm going back into quarantine. I had been loosening up and going out more - always wearing a mask- but with all my health issues, its better safe than sorry.

Karen, yes, I am aware of that, but if I do have it and am a-symptomatic, I need to know that.

Don't forget to say "Rabbits" tonight/tomorrow morning! July is upon us already!

Just an FYI: in case anyone might be interested or know someone who might be, the Canadians here at my park are saying they won't be coming back this next season due to not being covered by health insurance for COVID down here. So there will be a lot of park models and RV spaces for rent this upcoming season (October thru April), and will probably be pretty affordable, so if anyone is thinking about coming out this way and wants to stay at a nice park for a month or more, I will let you know what is available and for how much. Park models go for between $1800 and $2200 per month and the RV sites are between $1600 and $2000 per month, which is a lot  , but I think with this situation, they will be offered for considerably less than that come fall. We have 6 swimming pools, free tennis, pickleball and golf. Plus any activities that may be offered depending on the virus situation.

With all the dire predictions from various sources about the spreading of the virus we 'ain't' seen nothing yet. I have to stop watching the news!! Thank goodness for the Governor of Illinois!! Against a lot of opposition, he stood his ground and ordered things closed early on. The states where the Governors gave no directions are really in trouble. Missouri's governor left it up to school districts as to whether they closed or not and restaurants have been open there for a few months. I'm worried now that wineries and restaurants are starting to open here. It is a mix of those who will wear a mask when they go inside to order or use the bathroom. the wineries are really worried they will have to close again as some refuse to mask even for that short period of time.
It rained most of the night and so far isn't as hot and humid as yesterday thank goodness!! I had to take Mitzi to have her toenails trimmed as she will not let me do it but behaves perfectly for others. I took her out to potti on her regular leash and brought her back inside thinking she wouldn't. I didn't realize what was going on. Ha, she disappeared under the vanity as soon as we came back inside. She reads my mind! I can't think of anything I did that would have made her suspicious.

Just back from third Walmart pickup. Super pleasant young people do the loading. Order and any substitution has been acceptable. Good experience has encouraged me to try Sams if needed. Nothing to fear but fear it’s self. :) Be safe

BJ, it looks like stores and places should be able to make their own rules about wearing a mask and refuse service to people that don't want to follow their rules. How many places do you see the sign "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service."

I called about my motorhome but didn't get an answer to when it would be ready. I guess I should start unloading the car so I can load it to go to the lake. When I went to get cat food the other day the back of my car was level full. All of that got moved to the back seat. I did get the cat food unloaded. Rascal is spending the night at the vet so I don't have to go back to town again today.

Some are just unwilling to wear a mask and it would take an armed guard at the door to enforce. They believe it is their right to refuse to wear it. My friends went to a winery Sunday and her husband went inside to use the bathroom. He wore his mask inside as was requested. While he was there another man came in and started mocking him for wearing a mask. Another man coming in heard the exchange and added to the harassment. Fortunately only words were exchanged but it could have escalated.

I was pleased that Michigan was requiring masks in all stores and restaurants, but there were those dumb college students I wrote about a couple of days ago that messed it up for a lot of other people and their families because they thought they could never get sick. And I also read about a couple who went to a winery on Saturday or Sunday and exposed dozens of people.

I was around my Ohio kids, my niece, and my cousin in the past couple of weeks, so I am going to try to stay away from people for a few days. I've been chatting with campground people, but staying at least 6-8' away. And strangely enough, i am camping in downtown Duluth in a marina! This place has a bunch of sites that are used during the winter for boat storage. All have electric and water hookups, and a few have full hookups. It is across the famous bridge from downtown, and I am way out on a point of sorts, with boats docked on all sides, so view is fantastic! There are supposed to be a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance, just on the other side of the lift bridge, and there is also a park along Lake Superior, just north of here. If I go out tomorrow, I will wear a mask, even outdoors.

Here for three nights and then to a COE campground about 200 miles west of here.

Was watching TV earlier and glanced out the window and noticed thick smoke outside. I went out there and could hardly see the houses across the street! My neighbor was out there looking around too. Didn't see any fire or hear any sirens. Called security to see if they knew anything but they didn't. They said they would send someone over to check it out. Within 5 minutes the smoke lifted and it cleared up some. I suspect it was smoke from a dump fire that started south of here a few days ago. The winds have been strong blowing south until tonight, so I think the smoke changed direction and came this way from the wind. It smelled like trash rather than burning wood. I could see the sky to the south had a very brown haze.
I came back inside and my eyes started burning. There has been air quality warnings south of me because of that fire. It is supposed to be breezy and fairly cool again tonight but I think I will not be opening my windows tonight just in case there is still smoke in the air.

Off to bed...
