Refreshing Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Refreshing Monday

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:16 am

It cooled off last night and the wind picked up so I opened up the windows and enjoyed the cool breeze blowing on me al night long! Hated to get up this morning. This is so uncommon for almost July here! Enjoying it while I can! Will be 110+ by the end of the week again.

Enjoy your day! :D

Hot Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:27 am

Good Morning All, another humid day on the shore. Have you heard the expression “ I didn’t know whether to s&*#% or wind my watch” To leave the apartment I have to have the car keys, door key, letters to mail, trash for the dumpster, sunglasses, handbag and mask. Went to drive thru at the bank, put in park, take off seat belt, remove sunglasses so they can identify me, lower window,, get the cylinder fill and return and then wait and wait. Eventually the teller pops up and says you have to “push send”. Maybe I am over thinking but what else do I have to do. It isn’t my age, it’s the pandemic. Maybe I should make a check list to navigate the outside world. Be safe

Shirl, I can't tell you how many times I go to town and forget my cell phone. That's a real PIA when places want you to call them from the parking lot to let them know you are there. When I park and get out of my car I repeat to my self several times "My keys are in my hand." If I locked myself out of my car I wouldn't be able to call any one for help because the only phone number I know is my own.

I made it to the dentist this morning and my face is almost awake. She numbs the place where she gives a shot so it was mostly painless.

Shirley sounds like you need a check list to leave your home! I think it is the pandemic, my brain just sometimes leaves me. I was taking to a friend this morning on the phone and when she had to hang up I said thank you! The teller at the drive in window at our bank is so slow It is crazy. I watched her count out money though and realized why. She seems to not be able to count like 5 10 15 20 etc so when she counts out the money she lays it out and then counts how many fives etc she has. I can't believe they let her be a teller especially at the busy drive through window. Another time I deposited a refund check from my dentist, I hadn't noticed it wasn't signed but she did. It then took a conference with 2 other tellers for her to come back to the window and tell me it wasn't signed and what did I want them to do!!

Martha maybe you need a smart phone! You could put every ones number in it and also set appointment reminders. I used to clip my keys to the belt loop on my jeans and that worked well. Now I clip them to my purse, if you leave them with your purse you can't leave without it. I would be lost without my iPhone, I get texts from friends, read my books or listen to podcasts. There is also a place to put your medical information and emergency numbers. It also has a microphone and you can just ask for whatever information you want.

It is really hot and humid here again. No sitting out for my vitamin D this afternoon.

Bj, I use my IPhone to make calls and text. I need reading glasses to see the screen. I love the IPad and use it to keep in touch.

Martha, you are so right I forgot to mention I also need my cell, the water bottle and most important “ don’t forget to put a bra on before leaving home”

Ditto on the bra!!! Need to remember to zip my shorts up also!

I make lists, but I also pile stuff I need to take with my by the door so I have to step on it to leave. My biggest problem lately is forgetting my mask. Michigan is requiring masks in every indoor public place, which means about half the time I have to go back to my car to get one. If I can remember, I keep an extra mask in my purse so I have one and also a baggie with a few chlorox wipes in it.

I am camped in a kind of old and crummy casino parking lot camping area. There are hookups, but more importantly, no big trees overhead, so I can get satellite and near a town so I can get Verizon for my internet access. I paid for two nights at McLain SP on the Keweenaw Peninsula. This is a narrow finger that juts about 80 miles into Lake Superior. I discovered that once you get past Houghton and Hancock, there is no Verizon service at all!! I had a lot of work to do last night and was frustrated at getting just a tiny bit of a signal once in a great while, so I left this morning, headed up for a drive to the very tip, and then found this casino for $25 per night. Tomorrow I head for Duluth and a campsite in the Marina parking lot right next to downtown and a park.

Oh, and two years ago, I lost or misplaced my senior federal card. I have bought two annual ones for $20 each, but now have apparently lost the one that is good until October 2020, so will need to buy another annual one. Can't trust myself to spend $80 on a permanent one!!! How can you misplace things when you live in only about 250 square feet????

I have to put things in front of my door too so I won't forget to take them when I leave. Even then, sometimes I step over them when leaving if I have my mind on something else. I also have tried putting Post-It notes on the door to remind myself of things I need to do or take with. Sometimes I notice those, sometimes not.

I have a smart phone with all my contacts but sometimes I lock my purse and phone in the car. My kids locked us out of vehicles so many times over the years I don't want to lock my keys in the car. When I'm camping I try to not get out of the camper unless I have my keys in my pocket. I have been to many campouts where someone has locked themselves out.

I always put my keys in my pockets and am always patting myself down to see if I have them before I lock the door even it it was only 5 seconds before I got out of the truck...usually the phone is in the other pocket although sometimes it's in the purse and sometimes it gets left home... I too would be up the per verbal tree
if I had problems and didn't have my phone with me...
we took my tax information down to a friend today to have her do my taxes.. so then we stopped at my youngest text and told her we were outside and to come out and we would wave at her... but dd and gd came out to the car and we visited for a moment...after gd had gone into the house dd told about sometime during this pandemic my granddaughter basically had a melt down got so angry and guess she used the sailor language I hate this virus it p.... me off!!! guess she used every word in the book and correctly too dd said I just acknowledge that she was angry so am I and it will be ok thinking later I will remind her not to use adult words .... a good mom I probably would have not been that understanding... I think that the therapists are going to be well used in the future months..
it was one of those days nothing got done that was planned on when it was planned on... hair stylist text my dd and told her she wasn't feeling well and cancelled my appt... dang even took a selfie last night to show the before and after... guess will have to wait a few she was around her family and some had a stomach flu she is thinking that it was that a 24 hour thing hopefully
ds is working I just so misunderstood the whole conversation other than two of the coworkers tested positive did get that right...
no plans tomorrow took the truck to the shop for them to change the oil and check out the engine ect
fix that brake light
need to crochet not sure that it will happen though it's 10 and the body is weary

BJ tellers are required to record how many of each denomination they disburse or take in. I see them write it down each transaction. Doesn't mean they cant count $$ it's just required.
Shirl, did you know there is a setting to increase size of text on phone screen?
We had a warm but not HOT day here. We got our safe and sane fireworks for the 4th. Chris is able to walk a little further each day. He has had bruising finally show in both knees at the back.
Other than our trip to grocery store and adjacent fireworks stand, not much happened here today. Did fix him a big taco salad, which he said was real good. I had meat without beans or lettuce since both upset my digestion. Watched tv now it's bedtime.

Diana, I have 4 pair of the same Easy-Spirit shoes in different stages of wear. The oldest with holes in the toes are barn shoes. Yes, it's kind of embarrassing to get to town and realize I'm wearing the barn shoes.
