Monday Late Start

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Late Start

Postby JudyJB » Mon Jun 15, 2020 1:34 pm

Not only did I have a late start, but no one has started the morning coffee, so here it is. Actually, lately, I think we all get started late, so we could easily rename this "Afternoon Coffee."

I am in Detroit, staying at a commercial campground south of the city. It is expensive, and I would rather be in the nearby state park, but state parks are not open yet in Michigan. Tomorrow, I have a couple of old friends stopping by for lunch, so I put a table cover on the rickety picnic table here. For the price, you'd think they could afford picnic tables that don't look as if they might collapse, but I will make do.

I seldom start morning coffee because if I do someone usually posts right before I do.

I am waiting for the RV shop to call me with an appointment for my motorhome. It usually takes a month to get in there. It's too hot to camp anyway. It's 95 today. I have a reservation for the end of July at Grand Isle which is at the end of the world.

I have a dentist appointment on Wednesday and I swear they have contacted me 15 times about it. I got a call this morning telling me to sit in the parking lot with my air conditioning running so they don't get a false temperature. Some one will come out and take my temperature and I have to wear a mask. I need to go to Lafayette anyway or I would have cancelled the appointment.

I was going to mow when I got home yesterday but it started thundering. It will probably be almost dark before it cools off any today.

Hi Judy, Martha & all that follow,

Judy, it irritates me when you pay good money at a campground and they don't keep the place up. We passed by a campground heading north on I-95, that we usually stop in, and stayed at a KOA in Santee SC instead and we'll definitely be going back there again.

Martha, in FL, this would be an easy time to get an appointment for an RV, but I understand that that in your neck of the woods, this is their busy season now.

It is very wet and chilly in Wilson NC. The high today was 64 and we have our heat on. Beef stew is in the crockpot. But this weekend, we'll be in the high 80's and low 90's. Go figure.

Hiya travel pals, popping in to share that I went to the mountains this morning! Yay first out in 3 months. My mini van is a great ‘day camper’ for chilling with an iced coffee after hike. I open the hatch back and sit inside in a low beach chair: privacy and view! Hoping to do it again next week.

Martha, I'm trying to figure out how the dentist will look at, let alone work on, your teeth with you wearing a mask. I'm having a good chuckle with the visuals I'm getting.

Mornings now are early for me. But not for posting, etc. And I usually come home with an almost fully charged phone unless I use mine over the store phone for business calls during the day.

Diana, so glad you got out.

And Judy you explained quite well why I prefer boondocking most of the time.

Made me think, Beth, I am not just being cheap when I complain this campground is expensive. It is one of the family-type swimming pool, mini-golf, activities center, arcade games, and go-cart racing places. Obviously, I am not into any of those activities--but I have to pay for them. All I want in a quiet, relatively clean campsite with paved streets to keep down the dust. In fact, when I made the reservation, I told them to put me way in the back in the anti-social area! I won't be using the showers or the restrooms, or even the internet access, either. (They did put me way in the back and there is no one on either side of me for quite a ways.) :D

I do like electricity because I get tired of constantly charging my laptop and other electronics because I am spending so much time online working due to its being the end of the semester. I would be very happy in the desert or on a mountain top far away from anything, as long as I had Verizon service! However, when you are near a big city area like Detroit and the suburbs, there are not many choices. So here I am. Thursday, I am headed for a relatively inexpensive casino and then a county fairgrounds.

I realize that there are a lot of expenses that campgrounds have but I find it hard to understand why it's almost as expense as a motel... not quite but close... there is a campground in Ogden Ut that I planned on staying at for a month until I inquired what there monthly rate was somewhere around 700 -800 for a monthly rate plus electricity!!!! I totally didn't get it.. and didn't stay for the month might need to re-look at campgrounds in the area this one was just convenient...easy on and off not that far from my dd but if I want to stay for a month that is just way more than I care to spend.
I finally got my plants planted still have my mom's to take over and plant... hopefully on Weds. Then on Thurs I plan on going to Rexberg to walmart get bird seed and books and whatever else is on the mental list should put it on paper might be able to retrieve it...
I am one of those that when the light goes out I am asleep rarely does it take more than a couple of minutes used to irritate Larry so bad :P but last night I went to bed way late even for me...about 3:30 some of you are just getting up :o so instead of reading a chapter from the book on the bed I went to bed out with the light and tossed and turned last time I looked at my phone it was almost 5 AM and hour and half of trying to sleep :o so rare hopefully not a repeat tonight... did catch a nap about a 40 min one.. then went up to the house to make supper for dd and myself.. never made risotto in fact never eaten it... but wanted to try wasn't hard just more time consuming.. turned out good and made chicken which was yummy my sister will always say chicken thighs are the best breast are always dry... well these weren't  and then we had creamed carrots... am so full had planned on trying this recipe for chicken oh gosh can't spell it but that thin chicken that is breaded and a German dish but didn't have the Panko so will have to try it another time they just looked incredible.
hopefully the plants will do well some already look better want to go get some white for moms just to give it a pop most of hers are pinks
you all take care dd and family are on way home decided not to go to DC so today they were in Nauvoo ILL
my eldest dd and her husband will be here on Thurs.
you all take care

I didn't go to our May campout because I wasn't going to pay $50 a day when nothing was open. I can go to a state park for $15 to $20 a day. We are getting quite a few of the resort type campgrounds with all the entertainment. The prices for those campgrounds are out of sight.

I use to be able to fall asleep easily. We use to have to flag a field for a plane to put out fertilizer. I would lay down in the field and sometimes fall asleep waiting for the plane. I could sleep in a vehicle. The older I got the harder it has been to fall asleep. There is no way I could sleep in a vehicle now. I don't even like being a passenger and there are people I won't ride with.

There was a lady at the last campout talking about a car accident she had. She said medicare won't pay if you have a car accident. I sure didn't know that. I need to find out if my car insurance pays medical bills.

Like Beth, I want to know how dental works with a mask! My son has a dental check on 25th and I had wondered how they will handle it.
I looked it up and YES Medicare pays for your care if you are in a car accident! You do need to tell them you were in a car accident, but they do pay per the Medicare info. It's possible that you have to report to them the accident so they can make sure you aren't getting double coverage, but they pay.
Not much happening here. We went and turned in bottles and cans today. Son earned $20. I pay the deposits but let him earn the refund by handling all the sorting, bagging, and turning themin, ESP since 99% of it is his containers as I don't drink soda or juice. it was warm but overcast and breezy today. After recycling, we stopped at store for few things. Seems most have given up wearing masks. I wear mine.

I recently went to the dentist and they were only doing one patient at a time. I did have to wait in the car until they called. I asked but they said I did not have to wear mask. The receptionist was behind a plexiglass window, A woman in a mask met me at the door and took my temperature then I went to the chair. I don't know what the dentist had on because I shut my eyes! I had that wonderful gas and when the dentist finished he left and his assistant finished up. According to what my friend who works in a medical facility he should have had on a mask and a face shield, plus a gown. I had dreaded the appointment so much as they were pulling my front tooth :o and capping teeth on either side. I was so shocked that it only took one hour and my teeth look amazing.
