Gorgeous Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Gorgeous Sunday!

Postby BarbaraRose » Sun Jun 07, 2020 1:05 pm

It is beautiful this morning! Nice cool breeze, sunny, birds chirping!

Had my windows open all night and enjoyed the cool breeze blowing over me! Am still laying on my bed enjoying it. :D The heat moves back in starting tomorrow.

Got up awhile ago to give my neighbor a haircut. Now just watched my church service on line. Need to eat some breakfast and then do some laundry, etc. I should clean up the yard a bit while it is nice out. Lots more palm fronds again but will leave those for the lawn crew tomorrow. I put a bunch in a pile last night that had blown all over the street and drive way but they blew all over again.

Maya has started a new thing. She is "nursing" on my skin, mostly my neck and face. I read that kittens do that when they are weaned too early. It seems odd tho that she never did that until now. It is better than getting bit, but she is still biting a lot too.

Today would have been my dad's 94th birthday.

Hope you all have a good day and if you are in stormy areas, stay safe!

Hi Barbie & everyone!

Martha, I was just checking on the weather in your area and hope everything is okay where you are.

Barbie, enjoy the cooler weather and breezes.

We had friends from way back when that spent the day with us and it was so much fun. We spent the day at their house last Sunday, so it was our turn to host the day. Started out with crab dip and crackers and later on we had marinated shrimp, German potato salad and devilled eggs. Chocolate cream pie was for dessert. The weather was wet so we had to entertain inside.

Hope the rest of you had a good day.

The tropical storm went on shore South of New Orleans so it has been an almost non event here. It has been breezy with light off and on rain showers. The weather people are saying we could get more rain tomorrow coming from the North as it wraps around the center of the storm. I'm glad I didn't have to leave. I am looking for our camping reservations to get cancelled tomorrow. After all this I am kind of out of the mood to go anywhere.

not sure if it's the listening to Pandora while on the internet or streaming a fireside twice a week that has put me into the slow down time... just got a text saying I was at 10 percent will need to not do something... and my dd tells me I ought to sign up for netflex or some of the other and give up Direct Tv ...
it was just a laid back day didn't even crochet although if I was smart I would get off the internet and do so for an hour...
Oh I keep forgetting not sure if Anne got her check or not or if any others haven't but if you haven't the senior center sent a letter out with a meal the other day at my mom's telling that in some cases they have been sent as a card and if you think you threw it away to call 800-240-8100 TTY800-241-9100 I don't know what that TTY is took pictures of some of the information but don't know how to share them to readable I can text them to someone to have them post them if that would help
you all have a good day

Stayed pretty comfortable and breezy today.

I did laundry but had to go across to the other side of the park to the only laundry room that is open here right now. I did 5 loads of laundry including bedding, blankets, etc. Forgot either quarters or laundry pods twice so had to take two more trips home to get those, and when I went home to wait for the washers and dryers to do their thing, by the time I got home, I only had 10 minutes before I had to turn around and go back again since it takes over 5 minutes to drive the cart each way. So needless to say, I didn't get anything else done today.

The wind has really picked up again with heavy gusts and I am hearing things hitting the roof, probably palm fronds. Not a big deal if they are single ones tho. They sure make a mess all over the roads and yards tho! The landscape crew will be very busy tomorrow! It is almost time to start pruning the palm trees now too, now that they are growing seed stems. They go up in their boom and cut almost all of the green fronds off, just leaving 3 or 4 left at the very top. They look very naked afterward! :o

I made a baked potato in my microwave tonight and now the microwave isn't working. Not sure if it got too hot or what. Am hoping it will work again when it cools off. Have never had that problem before. I wanted to make a new microwave brownie thing (kit) that I got the other day. Guess not tonight...

Kitten Overboard!!

Maya just fell in the toilet! I had to fish her out and dry her off! I usually put the lit down but was in the bathroom and had it up for a few minutes. I think all kittens fall in at least once in their lifetime! I think she was glad I saved her life, but not happy about getting dried off with the towel.

Thanks for asking, Sheila. The answer to your question is "no". I have not received a check, a debit card, a letter - or anything at all.

I used that "Get my payment" link on the IRS website. The information says my check was mailed. . . on May 15. Nearly 4 weeks ago. I have been watching for it ever since. Nothing - as in 'zero' - from the FedGov has hit my mailbox. I'm not sure where to turn. . . I can't find an IRS telephone number to call for this specific problem, I can't find an address to email, I can't find an address to write to the IRS via the U.S. Mail.

The nearest IRS office to me is about 70 miles away - as if I could go there. According to the IRS website, due to the Corona virus, one can no longer meet face-to-face with an IRS representative.

I'm thinking that I am probably just S.O.L., if you get my drift. Not too happy about that, though.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try writing my local congressman. Doubt that will help much, but it is something to do.

Again, thanks for asking.

Anne, as I understand it, the envelope with $ on a card was not marked from IRS, but from the company they contracted to print the cards. Hope you looked at every piece of mail carefully, as some have tossed their checks thinking they were scam!
Nice day here today in 80's. Watched NASCAR and a fireside chat from our church missionaries and watched tv.

Thanks, Velda.

I don't receive much mail - and I have carefully scrutinized Every. Single. Piece. that has come from my mailbox. Nada.

On the other hand, my bills don't seem to have any trouble at all getting here. :?

It says on the IRS website that two weeks after the mailing of the check - two weeks would have been May 27 - that a letter would be sent to verify that the check had been sent. Haven't received any such letter, either.

It also says on the IRS website that if it has been more than 14 days from the time the check was mailed, and the check was not received, to check back on "Get my payment" for further information. Have checked "Get my payment" on a daily basis since June 1, all it says is that my check is in the mail. Now, where have I heard 'the check is in the mail' before?

I'm loving the cooler weather. Seems we might be in for a cooler summer than is usual here. One can but hope.

Thanks again, Velda.

Thanks, Beth.

I have been over that website several times, pretty much with a fine-toothed comb, and nothing seems to fit my situation. Most of the links just lead back to the suggestion that I contact "Get my payment" again. Some of the links seem a bit bogus. I'm careful what I click on, and where I will put in personal information. CNET is known for generating Spam. Among other things. . . :( $1200 is not worth a large tasty helping of identity theft.

Other links basically lead on to the suggestion to 'wait a while longer'. Since I have been waiting since April 15, when all this began, the whole process begins to seem to me to be a bit bogus.

On a (more) happy note, I finally found an IRS phone number. I'll try phoning today, and see where it gets me. As I said in a previous post, my only other option is to contact my local congressperson.

Thanks Beth and Velda for trying to help out.

Is anyone else missing their stimulus check?

I read online that IRS has recently hired 3500 people to answer phones.

I guess they were all out to lunch today. The phone number I got off of the IRS website is just a telephone tree of recorded messages. Many of which state "For more information, contact the IRS website".

Well Duh.

I guess my only remaining option is to contact - that is, try to contact - my local Congressional representative.

Well, at least my Walmart grocery order just arrived on my front porch. One must remain thankful for small miracles.

Have you tried this link? https://www.forbes.com/sites/zackfriedm ... 0390857b84
Keep scrolling down on the page as there is a lot of in between junk but info is good. One site I read said you didn't have to list your drivers license etc if you didn't want to and it would still process. Good luck! I doubt you would get any response from congressman if like around here!

I have been trying to post a message I wrote in my email to copy and paste here. So far I just get a message that says incorrect string value, contact an administrator. Interesting because I have posted copied messages successfully in the past.
