HOT Thursday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

HOT Thursday!

Postby MandysMom » Thu Jun 04, 2020 1:18 pm

Headed to another hot summer day in northern California! But concerned for those in path of storms. Our peak yesterday was 104. Probably same today. So, we mostly stay inside, taking advantage of central AC.
Our area has been quiet protest wise, though Sacramento had some damage, National Guard added to local law enforcement, seems to have put a halt to damage so peaceful protestors can be heard. My son went tuesday to riot training for his department. Although his area has had a small protest, his excitement later that night, was, dragging a rather large bear off a highway where it lost to a pickup truck. He managed to scare his partner by growling as they drug the bear, partner thinking for a moment that bear woke up. Like father and grandfather like son! Same warped sense of humor.

Barbara, I hope work goes well and safely for you and colleagues. Those traveling, stay safe. Beth, hope the store sales are going well. Curious how many visitors are arriving in various popular areas. I did kind of have an ironic laugh this morning when a news story bragged no new cases from a Memorial Day celebration crowd at a certain lake in Ozarks. Let's see, Memorial day was 4 days ago, 7 if you count back to include friday, on a disease with a 10-14 day incubation period? Someone needs to recalculate, since cases could still crop up in another week or so. That said, sure hope they are right, we don't need any new excuses to lock down again.
Judy hope your scans went well.

Good Afternoon Velda, hot in Maryland too but we don’t usually have 100° temperatures. The dew point has risen enough that it is not safe for me outdoors. After a week finally walked 1 1/5 miles now have to stay indoors. Was use to strolling in air conditioned Lowe’s
for exercise during humid weather now as you say recalculate. Tomorrow retail stores here will open but I am still in safe at home faze. Be safe

Today and tomorrow are my "mostly" days off. I planned to take a drive and have a picnic with Ty... But I got lazy. I did put the new dash cover in my car that arrived yesterday. I put one in my last car and it made a gigantic difference in how hot the interior got. The Velcro stickies don't seem to be doing a good job of sticking, but I remember that from my last car, too. Hopefully it'll stay in place without as well as that one did.

Out of the sun, it's beautiful outside. The sun here, like in Arizona, is HOT. We have an alert that there's a high chance of "risk or harm from unprotected sun exposure" so our next walk is planned for when some clouds come through, before the rain that might hit does so.

Tomorrow maybe the drive and picnic!

Hi ladies! It's not hot in GA. We've had intermittent showers all day and these and thunderstorms are going to continue for the next week. I'm glad we were able to do some paddling yesterday and the day before. We have friends coming Sunday for the day. I'll prepare a crab dip as an appetizer for mid afternoon and we'll have marinated shrimp, probably cooked inside because of the weather, German potato salad and devilled eggs. I'll make a chocolate mint cream pie for dessert. These are friends we met 30+ years ago that were the president & secretary of a Good Sam chapter in MD that we joined and showed us the ropes to camping. They have relocated to GA and we visited with them last Sunday & this Sunday they're coming here. Hope we'll be able to spend some time outside with them, put right now it's not looking promising. We'll do the best we can with what we have to work with. It'll be warm enough to have windows and door open and still social distance. Stay safe!

So I get up and get ready take my stuff down to dd's car sit a bit then notice that the time is after 7 and she still hadn't called to see if I was up...so I call to see what time she planned on leaving she replied back like we better leave right now forgot to change my alarm  so she was late getting to work she is still working from home but today it was Grandma's home... we did go out to eat have decided that I can't eat like a teenager anymore can't do a burger and shake :o tasted good but oh my was so full mom was smart and only eat half her burger... we also shared onion rings... she insisted that we could walk from the parking lot which we did but going back was a long ways her words...
wish we had taken the wheelchair my brother brought over would have made it easier for her we had to stand outside waiting for the table to open up... usually a lazy day when over there although I probably should have done the laundry hope she will have enough clothes that she won't decide to take them downstairs.... but I didn't think of it in time to get the job done...
saw a Monk show that I don't think I've seen....
didn't get flowers thought it best to get out the planters first then it's so hard for mom to get around I think I will just buy more when I get mine and take some over to her...
tomorrow might go into Rexburg to Walmart get more seed and books and other necessary things
you all have a great day

Still watching the weather. The latest report has the storm going a little more West. If the storm passes to the West of me I could get more of a tidal surge. I don't know how they can tell where the storm is going when it's over land and still going South. I started picking up things in the yard and on the porch and putting them in the old house. Went to Walmart to get some supplies I might need. I have to roll up all the rubber mats on the old carport. I don't realize how much stuff is in the yard until I have to start picking it up.

I haven't talked to the guy that has cattle here. He is probably going to move them. The neighbors are moving their calves. They didn't leave for Hurricane Barry and ended up loading 4-H calves the night it hit.

Martha, please stay safe.

I've been doing a good job with these early hours I hate. But even though I got up early today, a day off, my body and brain are refusing to go to sleep. So come Sat morn, I'll be struggling to get up, because I bet I sleep in tomorrow. Just like all my days working when I had to start early.

The moon's been beautiful last night and tonight. I think tomorrow is the actual full moon.
