Weird Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Weird Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed Jun 03, 2020 9:58 am

Good morning! It’s been a strange weather morning here! We went from daylight to dark in a very short time. Then the storm hit with rain, wind, thunder and lightning! Now the wind has completely died down but it’s still raining and dark. Now what? Don’t think it’s over! I had a busy day yesterday. Went to campground and had lunch with friends in their new 5th wheel and then my first venture into Wal Mart in months. Spent way to much but won’t need to go for quite awhile! Can’t believe I left my list in the car not that it would have made a difference! But I forgot to buy bread! Now how did I miss that aisle? But I did get some things to put in Lola too. Extras I don’t usually have to get in a normal shopping run! Plus saved a trip to the drug store! Problem was that I had to lug all the bags inside and put it all away! I would say that about 90% of the people in the store had masks on as suggested. Not required in this phase but suggested. There’s always a few. Barbie, hope your day goes smoothly. Tina, loved the pictures of your new puppy. Did your project finish up the other day? So it’s already heading for afternoon and since I’m stuck inside today I really need to get to some housework! Have a wonderful day and enjoy it.

We are inside today too, but it's hot weather keeping us in. It will be at least 103. Plan to keep sorting and bagging for trash or donation. no camping plans yet. CA is gradually opening but I'm leery. Fortunately no riots here, only a couple of peaceful protests. Sacramento had damage, but National Guard combined with local PD and Deputies and CHP are keeping that from happening again. I do worry about my Deputy Sheriff son in MN, who took riot training yesterday, and works about 60 miles north of Minneapolis. His most exciting job yesterday, on duty after training ( he had a 20 hour work day going from training to patrol), was cleanup after a bear vs pickup collision. He sent a photo with the bear, who needless to say didn't win over the truck.
Barbara, I too hope your day goes well and you stay safe and healthy. Those of you in storm path, do be careful, my thoughts are with you.

Very hot here today. My car's outdoor thermometer showed 119* when I came out of work and 136* inside the car!

Work went pretty well today. Never got the big crowds like we expected. Two of our stylists are not coming back for awhile so we were short-handed so it was good that we didn't get slammed. One is pregnant and decided not to take a chance on working right now (she is the one who lost her unborn baby last winter). The other is a guy who got in a car accident the other night and is pretty banged up. We had one of the owners at the shop today and a GM from the shops they own in Phoenix. So they were helping us get things figured out. I did 10 haircuts and everyone was being cooperative and helpful during the haircut. When we get to the ears, we have them put one hand on their mask to hold it in place while removing the strap around that ear. It worked out pretty good. The only problem is making sure their sideburns were even since I couldn't see them at the same time with their mask on and not being allowed to stand in front of the customer. That is probably something they can fix at home tho. It got real quiet this afternoon so I got to leave 2 hours early. I think a lot of people just don't realize we are open yet. So we will probably get busier towards the weekend. The only people who got angry were those not being able to request a stylist. If we allowed that, it would make things much more complicated. Once things slow down in a couple weeks, we will be able to go back to that, but people don't want to hear that.

This situation with George Floyd is causing protests all over the world now. Charges have been upgraded and added for the four officers. Hopefully that will help things settle down some.

Maya has been very sweet since I got home. Maybe she thought she was being punished by being stuck in the bedroom all day! Either way, I am happy about it. She has her head on my shoulder, purring as I write this. :D

Hope anyone in the path of the storms, stay safe!

It was a quite day had some wind and rain but didn't last a long time... had plans but ignored them and just vegged out... tomorrow going to mom's dd wants to leave so that she will be able to start work on time ugg that means getting up and gone by 7 AM not my favorite time to get and up and be gone by...
might take mom out to find some plants and pick up lunch most of the places are open to indoor eating we will see what we decide to do.. mostly it will be what she wants to do or feels safe doing....
I have been seeing a ad for a solar powered fountain that you put into a water prove container and it floats and sprays so tempting to get and make a water feature... only thing stopping me is the fear of attracting insects biting insects at that.... day time I think the motion wouldn't attract them but night time ???
then I notice that the bird seed is getting a bit damp not sure what to do about that I think it is due to condensation cause until today not seen rain for several days... wish the container that the seed is put into was wooden as that can breath I think... what I use is a storage bin plastic one so open to ideas .
did get two rows on my afghan anyone crochet? trying to puzzle out a stitch called moss stitch or has other names as well granite stitch is one linen is another... but the pattern I chose and have watched the tutorial seemed easy except for a couple of spots that isn't making total sense...
you all have a good day
Barbie glad that you weren't totally swamped... is it possible that your kitty besides being young is bored? that might cause it to bite

Barbie, I don't know how people can live in the heat you have. It was 95 here and I thought that was too hot. I didn't do much of anything. The vet wanted me to encourage Frosty to drink more water. How the heck do you encourage a cat to do anything. He suggested a water fountain. I had bough one but never set it up and don't remember what I did with it. I have looked all over for it. All I have to do is buy another one and it will show up.

I will be watching the weather for the next 4 days to see what the tropical storm is going to do. Right now they have it coming over my house or darn close. We could get a lot of rain from the storm. The campground I am suppose to go to next Wednesday is on a river that floods. The area of the campground I am in is the part that floods. The air conditioners for the bath house is about 8 foot off the ground. I am going to be busy if I have to move vehicles out and back and get ready to go camping.

Martha, I think you get a lot more humidity than we do and that can make a big difference. If we had temps in MN this high with the high humidity, I think everyone would die! I remember back in MN it could be in the mid 80's with dew points near 70 and it was unbearable!
Stay safe with the storm. I would stay away from any river or low areas if you are gonna be getting a lot of rain. Not worth the risk.
I have heard that cats really love water fountains but they are pricey so I haven't tried one yet.
