Peace in the Valley Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Peace in the Valley Tuesday

The protests here last night were large but peaceful. The only issue was a fire that was most likely arson but I don't think too many out here are feeling too bad about it. There is a bar in Palm Desert called the "Red Barn" and it is a huge red barn looking building. The owner of it is an extreme conservative and got in trouble for opening up before he was allowed to. They threatened to take away his liquor license because of it so he closed again until he was allowed to reopen last week, but was very vocal about it. He has also been painting huge political messages on the roof of the building that are very threatening and violent (about killing politicians). So apparently, someone decided to put a stop to it and lit the barn on fire last night.

I ended up with food poisoning last night! :o I had a frozen rice meal for dinner and a few hours later was paying severely for it. Not fun at all. By 9:30 I was exhausted and probably 5 pounds lighter so I went right to bed. Feeling better this morning. I don't think I will be eating rice for quite awhile again. I bought 3 of those frozen dinners so the other two will be getting tossed out.

Maya is getting increasingly aggressive with her biting (not just play biting but aggressive biting). Not sure what to do about it. I do know that while I am at work, I will keep the cats separated. Maya is always attacking Lola too and I don't want her to be stressed with that when I am not here. I sure hope Maya grows out of this stage soon!

I need to get all my stuff together today for work tomorrow. Charge up my clippers and trimmers and make sure I have everything I need, including lunch ready to go. Glad I got sick when I did. Would not be good if that happened at work if I had brought those meals for lunch (which was the intention!).

Back to sleep for awhile here...have a good day

I don't think there has been any trouble from the protests around here. Last night a 20 year old black man was killed in Abbeville. That happens pretty regularly but it's them killing each other. If someone thinks they know who did it they will try to take revenge. There is about a 6 block area in Abbeville that I wouldn't go in even in the day time.

Barbie, hope you get over your food poison before work. I have had food poison twice. The first time it was from pizza and I didn't eat pizza for 15 years. The second time my son and I were on the road to Oklahoma. We had to get a motel room and I thought dying would be a good option.

Yesterday the vet wanted to start Sugar's second round of heartworm treatment. I dropped her at the vet's and went to see if the yard in Maurice was dry enough to mow. It was dry so came home and got the mower. Glad to get that done again before more rain. I picked up Sugar this afternoon and my taxes were done so picked them up too. I hope the treatment doesn't make Sugar sick again.

I had planned to leave on the 10th for a camping trip but now there is a tropical depression in the Gulf. They won't know what it's going to do until about Sunday. Please go somewhere else or go away.

had plotted out my day will do this then this then this and then crochet.... got the birds fed and was in ready to do the next thing on the list when I got a text from one of my dd's asking if I could come up and fold clothes as the other dd was getting stressed with needing to get ready for vacation... their son is being deployed so they want to make a trip beck East to see him before he goes.... so went up and folded clothes... put some in the washer was reminded of Anne's post the other day had to chuckle about it as I picked up clothes and tossed into the dryer... so other that the load that is in the dryer and the one in the washer the clothes are caught up think I need to text and tell them that the clothes in the washer need to go into the dryer.... :o I'm not even sure that they are aware that I put some in the washer... came home and did two rows on the afghan... one day I will attempt that moss stitch for the babys afghan... think it will be pretty if I can just figure out one thing...
that was my day no nap either and only started a color page.. but my sil got my bulb on the security light changed and it works... so happy about that now I can turn them on when I take Shadow out just will be easier to see...

I have been very stressed out between the protest thing and starting work this week. I feel like I am starting at a new job, very nervous about what to expect. My manager did say we could go to one of the salons that was opening today (they are opening each of the 5 salons on a different day) and see how they are doing things. So I did that. Luckily, it seemed to be going well and under control and the manager showed me how they were doing laundry, capes, etc. so I felt better after I left there. Went for a walk at the Civic Center Park across the street and was so pretty, even tho it was very hot out. La Quinta is surrounded by little rocky mountains I call baby mountains so it is very pretty there.

I took it easy the rest of the day and am in bed now at 10pm. We were supposed to open at 8am but they changed it to 9am so that is better. I wasn't too excited about working 9-10 hour days. I did stop and buy a couple of scrubs tops to wear for work. That way I can just throw those in the washer at work each evening and put them on the next day there and don't have to take them home with me in case there are any germs on them. I will just wear a t-shirt in the morning and switch into the scrub when I get to work.

Physically, I feel better today. Food poisoning hits hard and fast but at least it doesn't usually last too long. Having the flu is so much worse because you usually have a temperature and weakness with it. Martha, I know what you mean about not wanting to eat what made you sick for a long time after that! I am the same way!

Maya has been so much better today (altho she just bit my lip right now! Ouch!). Spoke too soon!...she is in attack mode again!

I got all my work stuff together except for my lunch stuff. Will throw that together in the morning. Got the BBQ pulled pork, buns and chips to bring with.

Sounds like things have quieted down in some areas now with the protests. The next few days I just need to focus on work.

Good night...
