June 1st, checking in day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

June 1st, checking in day

Postby PeggyinCT » Mon Jun 01, 2020 7:10 am

Good morning Everybody from cool but sunny CT. Rise and shine and let us know how you are doing. Today I am going to don my mask and venture out for the second time in 80 days to buy some plants for my patio pots. My son really can’t do that for me because I don’t know what I want until I see it. My garden looks the best it has ever looked! Twice I’ve had friends over and we sit in the outside living area and have tea or coffee and they go home with plants.
Sometimes we think we are being over cautious, but over 4800 people have died in CT. I weigh every decision on whether it’s worth the possibility of getting sick. I don’t need to be “out there” so I don’t. Enjoy today; keep smiling and washing your hands. Peggy

Good morning Peggy, I’m a night owl so said Rabbits before I went to bed. In my area the small family owned nurseries were less crowded and only allowed 8 cars in at a time. You pay a little more but worth it. Since selling the house I really miss the yard. I thought about telling my granddaughter, ok, I’ll sell you the house but the cute little herb garden is mine. :D Watching gardening shows has kept me sane. Stay safe

Thanks, Shirl, I don't think I spoke since getting up, so I just said Rabbits!

Peggy, I felt safer in Arizona so sometimes I'm 2nd guessing my decision to return to SD. In some places I see masks, but rarely in my store, by customers or employees. So, I'm somewhat expecting we'll be seeing this virus closer than I want! I feel comfortable behind our screens at the register but not so much when out and about in the store. My face screen though, helps.

Today's my hump day and time to get ready for work. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

No Rabbits here of course. Not too worried tho since my life seems pretty boring and same-O-same-O. Just puttering around the house and yard. Going to be in the 80's for a few days so mornings will be outside and afternoons inside LOL

That time again to visit the eye doctor for my monthly shots. I finally rearranged my appointments so one eye done and then the next day the other eye then I dont go back for a month. Was 1 a week apart and that just wasnt working for me. This way I have a month off in between.

Our county is doing great with the virus stats. We have over 220,000 residents (and we are on the Mexico to Canada route with travelers) and we only have 66 cases and 0 deaths. People are still wearing masks and practicing social distancing as we are opening up more. I need a haircut like most of us but I am willing to wait a while longer. I need to go to the store on my way home from the eye poking for just a few fresh foods and a few other things. Will just be a quick in and out.

Had a protest downtown Ashland yesterday and the local news said it was peaceful......whew. I am not sure how these protests will impact our virus spread but time will tell. I am not really watching any news except the local news and it certainly has made my life much more peaceful.

I was rudely awakened early this morning after Lola took a dump in Maya's little litter box in my bedroom and didn't cover it up, so I had to get up and move to the living room for fresh air! (I cleaned both litter boxes last night so not sure why she chose that one. Altho she also only eats from Maya's food dish too. I really need to consolidate all that!).

Am tired but need to get ready soon to go to my work meeting at 10am. Then I can come back and take a nap for a bit. I really need to stay away from the news today and gets something done around here.

Have a good day! :D

Good Morning all, I actually remember to say Rabbits when I woke up during the night. While I don't like gardening or being out doors very much this has been a beautiful spring. Everything has been blooming and no killing frost. I have been venturing out for my 15 minutes of sun every day though as the weather hasn't been too hot and humid yet, although I think it's coming this week. I too am worried about going out and so far haven't been inside a store since March 15th. DH has always done the grocery shopping so he has continued. I do pick up orders where I pay ahead and they put in in the back of my van. I don't think we will go back to any thing near normal until a vaccine has been developed and proven. It does make me angry to see all the people who ignore the mask wearing requests. They allowed the wineries to open this weekend and they were all packed. Supposedly they were to social distance but I can't imagine that lasted long. We had a spike in cases here due to a group holding meetings while the stay at home was in force, so far they have tracked 45 cases to the place.
Stay safe and try to stay sane! Some days I do better than others!

The dogs and I are here in Ohio. Lark and I kayaked on a lake yesterday and today I am back at my desk working. It appears that we will not finish up today as they had hoped but if they want to pay me for one more day....I am available! Puppy is growing and learning the routines well. I like best that she doesn't try to wake me up in the mornings. She waits for the big dogs to come get her from her crate......

Good Morning, things calmed down last night. TV stations went to regular programming at 7 PM after the news. Not much in the paper this morning. I was proud of our police yesterday. I was proud of the peaceful protesters. The thugs that destroy property are just that, thugs.
I continue to isolate myself. I did subscribe to amazon music for my dot. Now I have mostly classical music on every day. I keep searching for artists I enjoy. Right now it’s Adele. I like the sound of her voic e and the arrangements.. I can never understand the words.
Our swim pool is still closed. The library near me is closed, however, one in a different part of town has one of my on hold books available for me to pick up. This is crazy!

Hi ladies~~~
Not a whole lot new with me. Still doing the social distancing thing. It's been since St Patrick's Day for me. Have seen both the folks about the same number of times. With Dad on his driveway but it's harder with Ma.

Her place is still basically on lockdown. Someone new got hired and locked it down tighter than it was. Previously we could sit outside or could take her for a ride just to get out, as long as she never left the truck. Now neither of those are allowed. Only one family member can visit, per appointment,, once a week and only after temperature test and signing an affidavit that you have quarantined for 14 days. Only 1 person contacted Covid there in the memory care building, but Ma is in a different independent living building and now they have no freedom.

I agree with you Lyn that the looters are just thugs. Chicago is going on night 4 I think of curfew, and the sheriff's office in the county where I'm currently parked for 2 months, closed all stores in Kankakee, Bradley & Bourbonais Illinois yesterday because of the hoodlums, supposedly coming from Chicago, causing trouble. Tensions are high here and alot of other cities, and the stress from the virus is, to me, just more fuel to the fire due to the murder by cop in Minnesota. Such a sad and scary time for our country.

That said, I'm hitting the road again shortly after the last 3 months of sitting. Might as well since things are opening up but by bit and not being able to really visit the folks much. Chance to get further north then will spend the majority of winter probably in AZ after TX jury duty in December.

Stay safe ladies.

We had our meeting at the shop this morning. My manager helped open one of the other Great Clips yesterday and said it was total mayhem! Hours long waits, people getting mad, some not wanting to wear masks, etc. We will be working 8-5 pretty much every day for the next few weeks before they think things will slow down enough to go back to a normal schedule. So I will be very busy and tired!

After I left there, I stopped to get some Dickey's BBQ pork for lunches. There were 3 sheriffs deputies in there for lunch. I heard them talking to a woman about the protests and riots happening. They also said there is a group of "professional" rioters who go from one city to the next just to rile things up and cause problems and trying to make the protesters/black communities look like they are the ones causing it all. They come in on buses and airplanes to do their thing and then move on right away. They use social media to notify their groups where to go and when. He even said they pay a lot of the people to do this.

There are 3 protests planned for today out here in the valley. One was this afternoon in Palm Springs and one in Palm Desert where I work. I haven't heard how that one has been going.
The main street of Palm Desert has been blocked off for that protest and most of the shops are boarded up just in case. The main street is kind of the Beverly Hills of the valley here, so very high end shops there. Will be interesting to see what happens. Our shop is a few blocks away from there. Seems like the burning and looting happens several blocks from the protests going on. I suppose they figure that all the police are busy keeping the protesters in line and they can get by with the breaking in, looting and fires elsewhere at that time.
The third one is actually a vigil for George Floyd at a park a few miles from me, so hopefully that will stay peaceful.

I just got an emergency notice on my phone that the whole county of Riverside here has a 6pm curfew.

Lola has lost her patience with Maya today and is socking her in the face a lot! lol! Maya attacks her and keeps coming back for more. Then Lola looks at me like "I am getting tired of this!", I just say "i know, I know... ". I am sure she will grow out of that stage but hopefully sooner than later. :( Like they say "When she is good, she is very good! But when she is bad, she is terrible!" No different than a kid, I suppose.

Might take a short nap here now and then try to get some things done around here since I won't have much time to do stuff for the next few weeks (altho I have had the past 10 weeks to get stuff done and didn't accomplish a whole lot  ).

...just got an update that the protest in Palm Desert is being moved to the Civic Center Park from the main street, and from 4-6 now due to the new curfew. The vigil near me has been postponed as well.

Hi ladies!

Lyn & Barbie, I'm so sorry you are so close to the disruptions in he country. It's scary enough just watching this on TV or reading about it.

We took our Sea Eagle kayak out of our compartment and it is ready to go for a trip tomorrow. It was very windy today, so we didn't even attempt to go out. Been there, done that, and it's not fun. We visited with friends we've known for over 30 years yesterday and had a wonderful time. This Sunday they're coming to see us. The following Wednesday we leave to go to Santee SC for a few days.

Stay safe everyone.

Is it June already?!? It’s all a blur! Our veg management for fire protection is almost done. I planted a few pots as no travel is planned. Cherries are ripe in Cali; they are sooooo good! We are very sheltered here from both the virus and the riots so thankful for that. I ordered a map and trail book of the Tahoe Rim. Yes! Tahoe dreaming... til next month.

I was up well past midnight did I think to say rabbits??? no of course not it was ok Shadow lets go out!!! do you think that counts??? a quite day did what I needed to do the should do didn't happen but I did get 2 rows on the afghan done... and no nap perhaps if I got to bed earlier I will get up earlier and have more time to accomplish other things than the need to...
I go to the shops more than lots of you but I don't think as much as I used to do...
sometime this week will go and get more seed for the birds and the books that come out at this time of the month... they come out twice a month so that is when I go to the store... although I did go to the store the other day to get stuff to make supper for my mom dd and myself... had it been a bigger store and I could have gotten all the other stuff I wouldn't go later but the books aren't out till the 1 I think need to check so that wouldn't have worked they never have the full set anyway...
my grandson tried to get the cover off the security light so the bulbs could be replaced but couldn't find the right tool... or something will have to have sil talk with me to see what it is that is needed... or I can see if my gs that is working in electrical work has what is needed... I guess that cover needs to stay in place but I sure hate to pay to have something done that a 12 year old can do and my gs is 19 that tried...
hoping for peace in your neighborhoods...

All is well in North Florida. We are still in lockdown here in the ACV. Looking at small changes, but hey it’s okay with me that we keep everyone out. The hurricane season started right on opening day. Actually a couple days early for first Tropical Storm. Sure hope it doesn’t continue at that pace. Martha, it looks like you better get up to Maurice and get ready for possible occupancy sooner or later. Forget the mower get a couple of goats! Irmi I hope you and Steve don’t attract any to MD.

Be safe and have fun out there.

Birdie, Harold's friend that helps me move things called this morning talking about the storm. I wasn't really planning on doing anything until we see which way the storm goes but he has a horse show Friday and Saturday. He can move some of the stuff up on the hill. Matlock can help me move vehicles if I have to. I finally got electric and a drive way put in so I can bring the motorhome to Maurice. I wouldn't stay in it if the wind is more than a tropical storm. Carolyn and I finally have something planned for next week and now this.
