But at least the sun is shining, so I can get my deck railings painted today. Got them all scraped down yesterday and will run my sander over them this morning ince it warms up and I know they are dry. Major deck painting summer for me this year. Taking time to get it done between the heat, humidity and mosquitos of last week, coupled with heavy rains thrown in. Supposed to rain late tomorow and Tuesday, so no deck paibting till later this week again. I will do some touchups on my porch floor though as it’s undercover. But if I can’t paint, I have other projects in the works. Between the virus, the campgrounds closed etc., this is going to be the summer for doing some maintenance around house and yard.
I too have been watching the protests around the country. It’s gotten past it’s original point and now as Barbie has said, frustrations are boiling over with the virus, restrictions, racial tensions and a combination of things. Reminds me of the race riots in 1968. I lived in the outlaying suburbs of Detroit and the rioters were burning entire blocks of the city, abandoned homes on streets, cars, whatever. Back then it was all black people, the whites staying far away. The National Guard was called in. They and the Police didn’t use rubber bullets then, it was lethal force when needed. Curfews were issued For miles around Detroit. During the day, we could go about our normal business, but by 7 p.m., you had better be off the streets and on your property. We lived in a neighborhood where a bunch of us liked to gather on somebody's porch and talk in thw evenings. But with curfew on, that wasn’t allowed. But they didn’t say we couldn’t sit in our yards along the edge of the street and talk back and forth. We would watch the helicopters flying back and forth from Detroit and the Police cruising down the main road on nightly patrol. I am so grateful I live where I do, far away from the madness. Took the dogs for a walk in the woods yesterday, and it was nice just being out walking, enjoying the sights of spring. Sure we have ling winters, but I won’t trade for anything.
Shirl, you made me laugh, talking about bogeying down the road. I can just picture that. You would look like one of those funny videos you see on FB of older people acting like kids
O’Sharon, will be sending you some cool weather and probably more rain. Water tables are so high here, that there’s no place for the water to go anymore. Every time a front comes through with heavy rain, some towns are having flooding. Fortunately, here where I am, our sandy soil can absorb it. But all the inland lakes around here are way too high. Some people are dealing with flooded crawl spaces or flooded yards. Nothing can be done. With the great lakes at all tine highs, the rivers are full too as thry can’t drain into the lakes. Once get my projects wrapped up, then maybe I will think about camping. Need to move my trailer as don’t want tires sitting in same spot al the time. Not good for the tires. But right now, tine to get ready to watch nass in TV and then get this day moving. Have a nice dsy and stay safe, wherever you are.
