cloudy Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

cloudy Friday

Good afternoon gals!

Clouds are moving in here which is a good thing. Will keep the temps down a bit, altho it is still really hot here. Will start cooling down some next week.

I figured out that if I watch "Hoarders", I get much more motivated to clean my house! (not that it looks that bad! :o ) So far I have the trash and recycled stuff taken to the dumpster. I have cardboard boxes in the porch that need to be cut and brought to the dumpster. Then laundry and make a new plan for litter boxes.

I decided last night to order disposable litter boxes. There is a company called "Kitty Poo" that sends a new box each month with litter to put in it. The box is cardboard but coated so it is water-proof. It has really high sides on 3 sides which is good for when Lola has her "issues", which can cause a real mess with normal litter boxes. The cost is about the same as what I pay for two boxes of litter each month and this way I don't have to try to lug around a heavy box of litter home from the store. Will see how it goes. I have Lola's box inside the front entryway (that I never use) and have it closed off with a shower curtain. I moved the box to the living room a couple weeks ago because she was having accidents in the living room. Maya's little box is in the bedroom but she tracks litter all over and it gets in her food and water dish so I am constantly cleaning those. This morning she played in her water dish and then jumped into the litter box and then jumped up on me in bed! Had to run her to the sink and wash all 4 of her feet! I think she can just use the box in the entryway now since she has also been using Lola's box. Need to get the litter situation under control!
I think I will consolidate their food dishes too now. Lola eats out of Maya's dish thinking it is better food than what she has  (it is actually the same food).

Am shocked and saddened by what has been going on in Minneapolis this past week.

Need to get back to cutting up boxes...it is about 100 degrees outside so that won't be fun. And then get my laundry together and head across "town" to the laundry room. They do have a industrial sized washer and dryer there so I can do rugs and comforters in that. They also turned all the machines into ones that you can pay from an account from your phone so that eliminate using quarters if you don't have any.

Great Clips is hiring people to do the customer check-ins so we don't have to do that. They want 6 of us cutting and not having to do anything else.

Enjoy your day! :D

Barbie, bet you have a bunch of customers come in with haircuts they did themselves or had a family member do and now need to be "fixed."

I cut the sides of my hair, so they look OK, but the back is really ragged, but I am going to wait until I get up north to a small town where there are not many coronna virus cases. Ditto for an oil change because I do not want someone driving my rig into a shop.

It looks like every Friday or Monday I have a pet going to the vet. This morning it was Frosty. While I was getting dressed this morning I noticed him try to use two of the litter boxes three times. It looked like he was only able to pee a little bit. I called the vet's office and dropped him off. Vet thinks he probably has a urinary infection and wants to treat him with antibiotics and special diet. Further testing is expensive so we will start there. I have never had much luck getting a cat to eat the special diet food but we will see.

I use high sided plastic containers with a hole cut in one end for litter boxes. I have 6 litter boxes which is probably over kill. I put one at each end of the garden tub to block the access to under the tub. I don't want them to have an excuse for not using a litter box.

It got up to 93 today and is still 90. It doesn't look like it's going to cool off until the sun goes down. We didn't get any rain today for a change. We got an inch and a half from the storm yesterday.

Male cats are very prone to getting UTI's. We had a cat die from that when I was young. He went out roaming for days on end and one time he came home in terrible pain. We brought him to the vet in the morning but it was too late. He died there soon after we got him there. If he had come home sooner we might have been able to save him. I hope Frosty gets better soon! They say you should have one litter box for each cat, but I feel if they are OK sharing and don't go outside the box, then it should be fine as long as it is cleaned out every day, which I do anyways.

I just caught Lola and Maya laying on the recliner together and Lola was washing Maya's face!! As soon as Lola saw me, she growled at Maya and jumped down. What a con artist!

I went to WM yesterday to pick up a prescription. I wanted to get some milk and bottled water while I was there, but there were no carts available at the entrance. I was told someone was out getting them, but when I left about an hour later (browsing for that long while waiting for my meds), there still were no carts at the entrance. As I was leaving, I saw one guy out in the parking lot trying to get some carts together. Not sure why they couldn't have found about 6 employees to go out and do that. I saw a lot of people who just had a few items in their arms. Can't buy a lot without having a cart to carry them in. So they lost some money from me and probably a lot of others.

The wind is supposed to pick up as the temps come back down so that will feel good! A little breezy out there now but the sun is out again so still very hot.

Maya and I are having a bad day...She got under my feet earlier and I accidentally kicked her. I stepped on her foot once too. Then she was sleeping on the back of the recliner and fell off, hitting the window sill and then the floor. Later I made something to eat and came back to the love seat and sat down against the pillow. I noticed the pillow "vibrating" and wondered what was causing that, until I realized Maya was behind it. Poor baby! She almost lost a couple lives today! :o

I decided to make banana bread...I opened the pouch, and powder went all over the counter! Then I went to crack an egg and hit it too hard on the edge of the counter and it broke in a bunch of pieces and went everywhere dripping off the counter onto the floor. It is in the oven now, so if I don't burn the house down, I will be good!

I do worry about my oven tho. I have used it a few times only, since I bought it and every time, I get a nasty smell coming from it. It isn't gas since the pilot light is lit but it is pretty strong. I figured it would get better each time I used it but it isn't. I have the exhaust fan on, ceiling fan on, and all the windows open. There is no smoke, just smell. I need to get it looked at. It works fine but just has such a strong, almost burning smell to it. For most things I bake, I have been using the toaster oven but this wouldn't fit in there.

Hopefully, the banana bread will turn out OK.

went to my mom's today even got up the nerve to ask her a question with a "I want an honest answer" from you ... so asked if she felt she needed someone to move in with her... that I could but Shadow and I were a package deal... she took a moment and said I don't think I need anyone this year... told her if she changed her mind we would make it work.. at least she knows I hope that I am not just ignoring her...and doing what I want...
made breakfast for supper it's about the only time I get breakfast other than cereal of some kind... and mom gets meals on wheels so she doesn't very often get breakfast either I think she makes toast for breakfast.. so we had french toast hash browns sausage and eggs... also oj and fruit bowl... so we had a nice breakfast :D
I like to make with with french bread as opposed to normal bread.. whenever I use french bread I remember what happened to my sil one summer her family had the breakfast meal for our family reunion she planned on french toast went to a bakery to get french bread ... we are a large family and she needed several loaves... they wouldn't sell her all that they had because what would they do if someone came in wanting french bread???
sure spent a lot of money at the grocery store... went over the receipt because it just seemed so much they double charged me for my cherries irritates me... close to 4 dollars there... I don't think they made any other goofs I think it was my not noticing the cost of stuff...
you all have a fun day tomorrow

My banana bread turned out pretty good and my house didn't burn down. :D Got my new shears today and also my librarian style reading glasses, which I like. Makes me wonder how I was able to cut hair without them! I was cutting my fingers more lately so that is probably why.

Sheila, that breakfast sounds wonderful! I love breakfast! I heard there is a new restaurant going in just kitty-corner from my park called the Black Bear Diner. Looked up their menu and they have just basic diner food which I love. So many places out here have lots of ethnic, seafood, or just weird food that I don't care for. Will be good to have a decent American diner within walking distance.

So sad tonight with riots all over the country. Big protest in LA, and Minneapolis has lots of violence, fires and destruction again. For some reason, the police and National Guard didn't show up until around midnight again tonight, way after the riots began. There is a bank and post office that were set on fire hours ago and no police, firefighters, or National Guard around to do anything about it. Very unorganized and chaotic there. LA is doing a pretty good job keeping things under control and disbursing the crowds. Sad situation all over. Hoping things will be brought under control soon!

Kitties are both sleeping, Maya in my lap and Lola sitting on a toy on the floor.

Good news for you about the Black Bear Diner coming nearby.

I also prefer basic American-style food. I have had some nice meals at the Black Bear Diner in both Redding (Ca.) and also in Klamath Falls (Or.). I have found that if I am on the road somewhere, I will seek out one of these diners if there is one anywhere around. Much prefer a sit-down diner like one over fast food.

Prices are pretty reasonable, too.

I hadn't heard of them before and didn't know they were a chain until I googled it. There are a lot of new restaurants going in around this area (it is an up and coming community). Right where I live is mostly open land north of the I-10 freeway. There is a casino about a half mile from me with all open land between us (Indian owned). There is an AM/PM just off the freeway across from the casino that is surrounded by lots of open land. That is where the Black Bear Diner is going to be built. A couple miles away, there is an area with strip malls, Home Depot and fast food places. Some new things going in there as well. Then there is open land past that for about another half mile or so where Walmart is. That is all going to be developed in the next few years with a theater, fitness center, more restaurants and fast food places. Arbys is going up in that area right now. However, a lot depends on the future economy, as to how much of it is actually going to happen now. Some of it may be delayed or even may not happen. I did see an area being cleared out next to the AM/PM so am hoping that is for the Black Bear Diner.

Glad to hear you like it. I am looking forward to a nice sit-down place too. The only other one we have near-by is IHOP.
