Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday

Postby Othersharon » Thu May 28, 2020 11:44 am

Good afternoon all. I’m a bit late here today! I had an appointment earlier today to take Lola in for her state inspection and all was good. But...when I driving home and used my left turn signal it was blinking way faster then normal so checked it after I parked and saw that the light wasn’t blinking. It worked when I took it in so not sure what happened! So now I need to get new bulb or bulbs since neither one is working. Right side works fine. Always something and since it’s raining it won’t get done today. Not a big thing since I’m not planning on moving it for awhile. I need to give her a bath too and get the winter grime off. I got lucky and got in and out of my driveway this morning. The big cement truck is out there now and I probably wouldn’t be able to get out until it moves down the street. I’ll be so glad when they finally finish this project. They started it last fall and had to stop when the cold set in so here we go again. At least it’s all happening on the opposite side of the road so my little patch of grass isn’t affected! They always say they’ll be back to reseed and all but so far it hasn’t happened and my neighbor and I have finally done it ourselves. Our county is opening up some more tomorrow and the hair salons are in this group that can open with some guidelines. They are asking us to wash our hair before going in and they aren’t supposed to use blow dryers. I can live with that as long as I can get my hair cut! Irmi, happy you got your lot in FL for future visits. Barbie, I’ll bet you will be busy for awhile. Judy, hopefully you can get some much deserved rest and downtime. You’ve had a busy few weeks. I finally got to see my friends new 5th wheel yesterday. I helped her move from the old one to the new one. With the amount of things we toted we spent all day moving! Makes me think I need to rethink what I have in Lola! Toward the end of the day we were just tossing things in the cupboards so when the dealer moves it inside to go over they won’t be flying! They’re camping for a few day to test everything out so she’ll rearrange then! I’m rambling here so I’d better end this and get something done this afternoon. Have a great day and stay safe.

And I thought Florida was muggy! Ohio, at least where I am, is very damp and drizzly. It rained all night, and the sun is finally trying to come out, but it is getting warm again, and the humidity it awful. Got to make one more run to get my laundry out of the dryers, and I can cool off in my AC.

I am renting a car today, which makes me a bit nervous, but I am going to wear my really good face mask and sit in the back seat to be picked up. If I cannot get picked up, my son will come and get me, but I hate to bother him.

I did some cleaning out of my rig yesterday, but plan on doing more this week. It is amazing what I did not know I had. You really have to be ruthless--tossing out stuff which is good but not needed, like extra bathroom rugs and blankets I never use. I buy new because of company coming, but then keep the old too. I also am putting the stuff I got from my uncle's house in storage at my son's house. That really helps.

Good morning gals! :D

I didn't finish organizing my living room yesterday so I will finish that today. I am not feeling overly ambitious yet but I now have time constraints with my job starting possibly tomorrow. Need to do some laundry as well. I wish they would reopen the laundry room by my house. There is only one open here now (out of 5) and that is on the other side of the park.

Maya is thrilled with her new fish toy! Best cat toy ever! That thing is hilarious! Looks just like a real flopping fish! It flops for about 10 seconds and then stops until it is touched, and then starts up again! So funny to watch her attack it! I will have to get some video of that. Altho I am not sure how to post videos on here. The RV.net site only lets me post photos. Any suggestions?

I should make something to take to work for lunches over the weekend since we will be really busy and may not have time for a full lunch. Maybe sloppy joes. Hmmm...

Just started a really interesting book. I am really interested in near-death experiences and this book is about what those people who have had them, have learned about life and what our real purpose is here (to love each other and everything around us). What things are really important and what things aren't, in the grand scheme of things. The messages they come back with are eye-opening. It is really fascinating!

I better get up and get moving on stuff around here. Another hot day so won't be going outside if I can help it, altho I think we are getting together at the shop later for a meeting.

Just got a call from a friend of mine (Ann) here in the park who has lung cancer and is going thru chemo. Her hair is falling out and she wants me to just shave it for her. So I will be going over there later to do that. I feel so bad for her. I am also friends with her daughter who also lives here (and is my age). Ann's husband was just put in a nursing facility due to his alzheimer's right before the Covid lockdown. So they haven't been able to even visit him since then, and it was at that same time that Ann was diagnosed with I think stage 4 lung cancer. Such a sad situation. :(

Have a good one!

It's warm and humid today. I spread the granular poison to kill the stickers in the yard and then took ant bait and put on the ant hills. Now my hip is hurting from walking up and down the hill. I need to get back to walking every day.

I have moved from rig to rig several times and it's amazing how much stuff we can put in one. I still have containers of stuff that came out and didn't get loaded back up. I have been trying to go through that and throw or donate it. The hostess for some of the campouts feel like they need to give us something. The last clean out I probably had 15 name tags and other stuff from campouts. I keep telling people to please don't give me gifts but that doesn't stop my family. I give my sister and her family food from the specialty meat market because she has more junk than I do.

I will have to see if I can find the fish toy on line. I'm not sure Annie would like something that moved. CC might like it. He is always up to something but doesn't play with toys. He would rather aggravate another cat.

We haven't gotten much rain from all the predictions. Today we are under a marginal warning for severe weather. The storms are in East Texas right now. The weather channel is talking about maybe a hurricane in 10 days. I wasn't paying much attention until they said hurricane so don't know where it would come from. The last tropical storm formed, came onshore and was mostly over when I heard about it.

I was digging in the freezer for something to cook and found a bag of shrimp. Today is a good day to clean shrimp because they pick up the trash tomorrow morning.

Martha, I got the fish toy on Amazon. They have a bunch of different ones to choose from. I got one that looks like a bass. It comes with catnip and that gets put in a pouch inside the fish. I paid $15 for it and it came the next day.

I have one of the fish toys too, but my girls barely look at it. They like balls and furry mice.
It's already 99 here at 11:30 am! It was 104 past two days. Toasty. But it is almost the end of May, so expected. We are mostly staying in, due to heat. I have been to store nearby a few times and close to half don't wear masks, but I do. Fortunately our county has been light on cases.
Tomorrow I see the eye Dr to figure out how to improve my left eye. My right is better after laser but because the left is out of focus so bad, I don't think laser will help much.
After several hot days, predictions are 79 and possibly showers Saturday !
Barbara, Maya is so very young! Most quality breeders dont let kittens go until at least 10-12 weeks of age, so they get more learning time and socialization with their Mom. Keep telling her no and setting her on floor away from you when she bites. If she rushes the door, tap her foot with your foot. Maya's Mom would have cuffed her for biting too hard, and I don't believe in hitting animals but I would tap their nose, just enough to get their attention and say no. Stormy will put her mouth on us, but knows better than to bite, as she learned from our consistent no and tap and set on floor. I learned from my sister in law, a well known breeder for over 30 years. Give her exercise to use up energy and play with her with toys she can bite and chase. Ours like this stick thing that has a strip of fleece attached. Ours also like battery robot mice.
Irmi, so glad you two found your base camp! Beth, hope things are going well at the store. Stay safe those in bad weather zones. Barbara, hope yur first days back go well, even if very busy.
Have a good rest of your day.

Thanks Judy, I will try that.

I have been doing the "no bite", scruffing, and putting Maya on the floor and when she comes back up she is better. She will just set her teeth on me or lick me. But I think she forgets or just gets too excited in the moment and will bite hard again. I think she will be better as she gets older. She likes the stuffed tube critter I got her but only if I move it around for her. The fish is her new fun toy tho! (she just "attacked" me and is licking me! Yay!). I have string toys on sticks too which she likes. Then there is Lola, who is her favorite toy! She charges at her and Lola growls and swats at her, but Maya comes back for more. Once Maya settles down, they get along pretty good. Lola just doesn't have much patience anymore in her old age.

Just got back from shaving my friends head. She doesn't look good at all. Very frail. :(

Just found out that we won't open our shop until next Wednesday. When we do, we will have a designated "hair traffic controller" getting people checked in while outside and keeping things clean. Not sure if that will be one of us or if they will bring someone else in for that. No one is allowed inside unless they are actually getting their haircut. I wonder how that will work with it being over 100* out? I guess the shops in Phoenix, which opened 2 weeks ago, had 2 - 3 hour waits for the first 5 days. It will be an interesting experience for sure! Our meeting will be on Sunday morning to get more information. So that gives me almost another week to get stuff/cleaning/projects taken care of yet. I guess I work best under pressure with a deadline!

I discovered a new deterrent to stop Maya from biting. Blowing in her face! She hates that and stops immediately. Ah ha! :D

Barbie, I was going to suggest a spray bottle of water. I've never had a cat that like that spray. But if blowing works, easier!

While I'm working I put aside the scary thoughts of this virus. On my days off, I read too much and get more nervous again. The people around here mainly don't take this seriously. So it's easy to fall into that, and I know how dangerous that will be if I fall too far. I do love the face shield I purchased. I wear it out and about in the store. But shield or mask get removed to eat, etc, and then I need to jump up to help somewhere and forget occasionally... Those times could come back and get me.

Rapid City now has three bus drivers with this. They have now shut down the buses. Cases in Rapid (my county) are rising. They were close to non-existent. SD didn't shut things down, but Rapid did. Now, with opening up, even slowly, and with people traveling here, I think this will become the worst time here.

Enough. If I'm good to Ty tomorrow we'll go back to the cemetery where I can run him off leash (as long as no one's there).

Sheila, Rapid is my shortcut for Rapid City. I'm in Keystone. I've been reading but with nothing really to say except "I worked today" lol

I am expecting the no hair washing... And that's also my favorite part of a haircut. I get one even if I washed my hair that day lol. So I'll continue looking like a waif. :)

We don't get too many requests for shampoos, just cuts. I am wondering about using the hairdryer. I heard some places are not allowed to use those either. Will have to ask at the meeting. We were asked to do some on-line classes on how to cut hair on someone wearing a mask and how to avoid standing in front of the customer while cutting the front of their hair. We are not allowed to accept requests for a specific stylist and are not supposed to answer the phone for the first 5 days since it will probably be ringing off the hook. I know some shops are only taking on-line check in appointments. MN is not allowing walk-ins. Sounds like we will be taking walk-ins. I hope we don't get any fights happening!

Minneapolis is a war zone tonight again...so sad.
