Windy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed May 20, 2020 10:33 am

Good morning! It’s another cool and windy day here. They say we have a few more days of lower temps to go through and next week is supposed to be warmer. We’ll see! The road crew is out in front of my house again tearing up the over side of the road. Apparently what they did last fall was just temporary since it had already gotten to cold to spread asphalt. So we’re back to one lane traffic. Since I needed to get an appointment for Lola’s inspection I talked to one of the guys about the trucks and whatnot and they said they’ll work with me so I can swing out of my driveway. I always wait for traffic to clear in both lanes since I have to swing wide into the other lane to clear the driveway. I’ve got to say they’ve been more then accommodating through this whole project. So I called the garage and got an appointment for next Thursday. At least I’ll stay legal with the state!
Interesting conversation about store pick up. I’ve gone back and forth on it. I want to be safe but I so need to get out once in awhile. I don’t mind my own company but once in awhile I just feel the need to get out and see other humans! So an occasional grocery store run seems to help. And right now my list is getting longer so I’ll need to go one of these days! I’m starting to run out of the everyday items!
Today I think I’ll load up the bags of leaves and yard stuff up in the car and make a run out to the project to dump them and then Rascal and I will take a walk along the road. He can get in the grass and I can stay on the road and not get wet feet. He doesn’t mind and I keep a towel in the car to wipe his feet before he gets back in the car. Plus it’s easy to keep social distance from other people. I’ve been surprised by the number of people walking out there. Both with and without dogs. A popular area. So that’s about it for me today. Same thing just a different day! Hope you all have a great day and stay safe.

I have started getting spam texts on my phone. Is there any way to block these people? I can delete the texts but I don't see a way to block them. I wish these people would get a real job and leave people alone.

I need to go to Walmart to get some printer ink so I can print the land appraisals. My neighbor was a crop duster pilot so he should be able to tell me where the land is. I sure hope Walmart has some ink and I don't have to go to Lafayette. Better start working on a list if I'm going to Walmart. I walked out in the yard bare foot and the yard is full of stickers. No wonder the dog wants to walk on the sidewalk. Need to look for something I can put out to kill the stickers. Years ago I put out some weed and feed and killed most of what was growing in the yard. Evidently we had weeds and not grass. lol Our yard started out as a pasture.

It's overcast and the radar shows rain North of here. It looks like it might be moving South.

Speaking of wind! Last night the gusts were up over 45 mph here! Just before midnight while I was laying in bed reading, I heard a loud ripping sound just outside my window. I thought the palm tree next to the house was coming down! I jumped off the bed and laid down on the floor just in case. After a minute or so, I found a flash light and went outside to see what happened. Just out in front of m driveway was a huge section of palm fronds! The whole thing came down in one chunk! I called security and they had a guy come by with the pickup truck to clean it up. It was about a 6 ft x 3 ft pile! I checked on the tree this morning and there are more loose sections about to come down so I am gonna contact the landscape people and see if they can go up the tree and clean all that off before it comes down on the house, golf cart or me! Here are some pics.

You can see the tree trunk in the upper right corner of this photo.

Afternoon All, Barbie, so scary. Lots of bad weather everywhere. Has anyone heard from Sue? Don’t know where she lives but Michigan has big troubles. Hate to read the news. Be safe

I read that two of their dams failed yesterday but I don't think she is in that area. She has probably just been really busy as usual.
...I just heard from her on FB so she is alive and well!

If I had come on earlier I would have laughed about the "windy" adjective for today. But a few minutes ago the wind came up here big time. And my phone is telling me we have a severe thunderstorm watch till, I think, 10 pm.

Martha, I can block phone numbers on my phone. But I know that's done differently on different phones. For messages if I click the three dots on the upper right when reading the message and select "details" I can select to block the sender and report as spam. Again, it might be different with your phone/carrier. I get satisfaction out of doing it, though.

Hmm, all is calm for the moment. I know it won't last.

I like to go in the grocery store also. I am always well prepared with my mask and wipes. I like to see what I am getting. I think the prices have increased tho. They had toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex (limit 1). Lots of soap and cleaning supplies. I even got some hand sanitizer. I needed fresh veggies and fruit, bread, eggs and cheese LOL well I spent $70 so guess I needed some other stuff too LOL

Time for Netflix, going to watch "Sweet Magnolias", new show on Netflix.

Martha, I learned how to block spam texts last weeks. Or at least I learned on my iPhone. Here it is:

1) Open the text.
2) Up at the top, you will see a phone number or name with a tiny > next to it. Click on the >.
3) Then click on Info.
4) You will then see Details. Under it, there will be the name and a phone symbol with another > after the name or phone number. Click on the >.
5) Now, you will see the edit page and down at the bottom, you can click Block this Caller.

I am getting a lot of them from the political party I am NOT a part of!! And they tease me by saying some outrageous thing about my candidate and give me a URL to check into this outrageous thing, which I know to not be true. Very irritating to even get the text message, let alone one which is not true.

attended a virtual party last night for Wintex I think is the spelling expensive cleaning cloths... eliminating the need for chemicals... they only use water... I have the window cloth and really like it... so need to figure out what I want to spend my money on my eldest dd was one of the hosts for it... so want to order something to help her get whatever it is that she wanted
don't know what I did but my lower back sure has hurt today hard even to walk I even used my walking stick to go up to the house for supper... should have taken some Alieve while I was up... it hurts to walk but I can reach down and pick something up but then steps are hard to do and what do you have inside a 5th wheel? and of course that is where the toilet is as well...
the bird is back that I can't identify can't get a good picture of him to refer to when I look in the bird book
some days I really hate my phone and when I want to take pictures is one of them oh speaking of which Beth remember when I said I couldn't find my pictures and you looked for them? they have been found!!! some how went to someplace my dd put a short cut to it so I can go find them when I wish to...
a chilly day today been running the furnace all day... put the buddy on a bit ago... it's hard to get the temps up with the furnace although I've found if I shut the door to the bedroom it will get hotter... part of that is the thermometer is in the bedroom so heat rises and it turns off when the heat gets to temp in the bedroom but in the living room it's much cooler... this works but I do prefer the buddy heat at night just wish it was later but I was up so decided to turn it on
that had to have been scary Barbie... so hate it when the winds are high
if my back is up to it I will go to Idaho Falls tomorrow if not then Friday... we hope need to get Shadow's joint supplement and get what yarn I can get then will figure out the rest... can't believe how much more expensive it is on Amazon than in the stores... unless I miss figured it... like twice the amount
and then I will try to have someone down in Utah see if they can pick up what I need... and can't get here..
you all have a good day

Thanks Beth, but my phone doesn't have 3 dots. My phone is old, it's about a Samsung 4 and they are up to about a 10 now. I enjoy reporting spam emails. Don't know if it does any good.

Walmart wasn't overly busy and only had one cashier as usual. They are pretty well stocked except for cleaning supplies. I think I saw about as many employees as shoppers. Looked like they were getting a little short on bacon but plenty of sausage. I tried to follow their arrows but did back down a couple of empty aisle because I didn't want to go around.

The rain never did get down here. The weather man said the storms stalled out about mid state and some places got about 10 inches of rain. Glad we didn't get that much.
