Grey drizzly Sunday in May

Its still morning here, so ala carte breakfast/brunch of your choice is available by our personal pool boy/chef!
Last night or early this morning, around 1, gentle rain began falling. Later I heard one long rolling thunder in distance . It has apparently kept up the slow rain all night and is still coming. About 0.36 inches last I checked gauge, but every drop is welcome here in the parched west.
Not a lot of excitement here. Mostly staying home except trips to store with mask. Celebrated my older sons 40 th birthday Thursday , with his favorite cake and ice cream. A few friends stopped to drop cards. I had a box for cards decorated at the start of our driveway. I had planned to take him maybe to Tahoe to a show and dinner, but then CoVid happened. It's difficult, in times like birthdays, when family is so small.
Younger son is busy chasing bad guys and gals for Sheriffs department in MN, and calls or messages when he has time.
Got a surprise yesterday when I received a beautiful hand painted Mothers Day card from my Grandaughter! She is 10, and, of course I think she is the most talented grandchild ever! I plan to have the card framed to hang. I just love it so much.
This week I see the new eye Dr about fixing he mess created by the wrong IOLs being put in. Hope that can be soon, as I'm tired of waiting around!
Luckily, my county, Placer, has had relatively low infection amd death rates, so we are opening back up a little more than, say Southern California. So traffic is picking up and stores are mostly open, including sit down restaurants with restrictions. Still no gyms or barber shops or salons. The Spinal Dr recommended Bowen therapy for me, but that can't open yet. Anyone had Bowen?
Hoping this week recycling and donation centers will be back in full operation so I can clear the piles I've made.
Barb, I hope little Maya is feeling better soon. And that Lola learns to love the new sister.

Good afternoon ladies!

Velda, you & I posted the same time, so I deleted mine and put it here.

Morning has come and gone it's almost mid afternoon. Iced tea and iced water is available to keep you cool, as we'll get into the low 90's today in central Florida.

Church was this morning and about the same head count was there as the past two Sunday's. Lots of the same folks are missing but we know they already have respiratory issues and they're better off staying home. We have a busy week ahead of us getting funds together for a scheduled settlement on Friday for the site at the resort we're hoping to buy. Some has come and more will come tomorrow or Tuesday. Needless to say, we're excited about having a place in FL we can call our own. Even though this is an HOA, actually a POA (property owners association), we can park our motorhome there because they only accept motorhomes and super B's & C's. All sites are landscaped and have built in sprinkler systems.

I'm getting ready to put a turkey breast in the oven for dinner, so need to get that going. Wish some of you were closer to join us for dinner. Take care and stay safe.

I have been enjoying the discussions on “hair”. My mother lived until 69 and never got Grey. I began turning at 35. I have always liked my grey hair. Took after myDad that way. Getting grey hair. He hated his andputGrecian 44 on his and looked like an *&$#*.
I wrote several weeks ago about my dd takingthe clippersto my head. I’ve not been sorry.
Annie, enjoyed your story about your Mother and your hair. I love, love, love the hairdressers fiddling with my hair. I crave tactile stimulation. When I win the lottery (if I ever buy. Ticket) I will hire a back scratcher and a head fiddler!!!

All the rain we were suppose to get yesterday went somewhere else and we only got about a 1/4 inch. It has sprinkled off and on all day. The radar shows scattered showers all over but doesn't look like we will get much rain today. I didn't do much yesterday and doing less today. I didn't even cook lunch, just ate a piece of cold pizza.

I got tired of my wild hair and took the FlowBee to it. I will be good for another month. The FlowBee is a thing that you attach to a vacuum cleaner and it sucks your hair into a plastic guard and cuts it. When I was little my mother and aunt would say I was tender headed. I did not like them messing with my hair. My aunt was going to beauty school and gave me a perm. I think that was the only perm I ever got and I hated it. My roommate in college and I had all kinds of hair adventures. Her hair was almost blond and mine was light brown. We would put some kind of lightener on our hair and lay out in the sun. Of course that eventually turned our hair orange. I decided to bleach mine and put a Champagne Blond toner on it. That turned my hair pink. I had to go class one day with pink hair until we could go get a different toner. I put an ash blond toner on it and my hair was darker than my normal hair. It also had kind of a greenish shine, kind of like a bug. We sure had fun.

I don't know what was going on here the last time a litter of kitten was born and they didn't get socialized like most of the cats. They aren't wild but don't like to be held or have your face close to them. I pet them when I feed and keep working on them.

Finally a beautiful sunny day here with temps rising. So Ty and I drove through Custer State Park to see the wildlife, and wildlife we saw... Buffalos and babies, donkeys and babies, pronghorns, big horn sheep, lots of deer, one lone elk, marmots. I'm sure I've left some out. Last time there about a month ago I didn't drive Needles Highway, so drove it today. I so love this park. I think it's my main reason to keep returning here. I was afraid being such a nice day and a Sunday that the picnic areas might be crowded, so didn't stay to picnic.

The nice weather gave the store is best business so far this year on first shift. I'm hoping it'll continue as the weather will be fantastic the next couple days.

Anne, unlike you I absolutely love when someone else washes my hair. Especially when they give a head massage. Ooh la la, that's such a treat. But I understand why you were ruined for that.

I'll see if I can upload a few pictures from today on a post in the general room.

My mom never turned grey... Even some family were sure she was dying her hair. But never. My hair changes colors without help. I've been blonde to almost a dark blonde and every shade between. And for awhile the brown took on quite a red hew. It's been staying in a mid blonde to light brown, I think lighter when it sees more sun (on my walks).

Velda, when my daughter turned about 10 or 11, I got her a pad of art paper and some colored pencils for her birthday, along with a book on how to draw horses. I gave it to her at our annual visit that year. While we were together, she drew a picture of the horse she loved to ride and gave that to me before we left. I took a photo of her drawing it. I now have that drawing framed with the photo in the frame as well. Very wonderful memory! It is the only thing I have from her.

I didn't realize your eye surgeries were done wrong! Sorry you have to go thru that again! Hope they can fix it fairly easily and quickly!

My mom dyed her hair all the time, a dark brown/auburn color. It was very pretty. When she was in the nursing home and couldn't dye her hair anymore, I was curious to see how grey her hair was. Well, she only had a little gray around the temples but the rest of it was dark brown! I wondered why she dyed it all those years!

My aunt used to give me perms when I was little. I hated it. But then as a teen-ager, I started getting them on my own (they were popular in the 70's and 80's) and continued with that until quite a few years ago. I would sometimes just get a partial perm on the top to give my hair some body. Now that it is wavy, I don't need to do that.

I also love having people mess with my hair and scalp! It mesmerizes me! Some people are more sensitive than others. I always have to check with my clients to make sure I am not hurting them if I have to comb out tangles, etc. Lyn, I love your comment about hiring a back scratcher and head fiddler!!

Lola didn't react well to the powder I put on her food, but it seems to have worked for Maya. She is having normal stools now. The only problem is she tries to be so good about covering it all up and somehow ends up stepping in it in the process! Then she gets a foot bath which she hates! Had to give Lola one this morning too.

Maya is sleeping on my chest as I write this. I love how affectionate she it! She comes up and licks my face! I am totally in love! Lola is getting better with her. They have gone nose to nose without Lola hissing at her. Progress!

I went back to WM today to get some things I forgot to order or didn't get yesterday. I ended up with a 6 pack of Viva paper towels, my favorite brand, so that made me happy! A couple things I couldn't find, but got what I really needed. I even found a banana bread mix without nuts! That is hard to find!

Watched my church service online this morning. Will read a little, maybe nap a little, and try to do at least one thing on my list yet today. I am a dedicated procrastinator!

My eyes feel better today. They feel a little puffy yet but not so watery and itchy. Still have a little headache and ringing ears tho.

It is still hot today (and feels a little humid) but is supposed to cool off quite a bit this week with more wind. That is fine by me! Open windows again! Yay! Lyn, you are experiencing the May Grays! It is nice and sunny inland of course.

made Navajo Taco's for supper and we had dessert a banana pudding called " not your mama's banana pudding" mixed it up this afternoon it wasn't until I was working on the taco's that I realized that I left out one of the ingredients the sweetened condensed milk so we still don't know what "not your mama's banana pudding" tastes like but this was good....it possibly explained why the recipe didn't look like it was as much as hers was got it off a video on FB from Paula Dean. so we quickly found the ingredients and mixed up another batch of pudding to bad I forgot the sweetened condensed milk... my gd said it would just make it sweeter... probably would add volume as well...
I love to have my head massaged was so sad when the hair dresser we went to went to a place that he can't do that!!!! the last time I had a perm had to have been twenty years ago when the afro's were in style.... got one and couldn't pull the pick through my hair (I actually think it was the second one I got) was so totally done with it by then that I've just not done perms since
not sure what I have planned to do tomorrow they are encouraging me to go see my mom but still unless you are a care giver they don't want senior's to have visitors...but supposedly the town it's self has "opened up" will see some time this week I need to go to Idaho Falls and get some yarn if I have any hope in the world getting my nephew's afghan done I need to get started also want to make a baby blanket for my grandson looking at a couple of stitches that look fun and not hard
