Beautiful Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Beautiful Friday

Postby Shirlv » Fri May 15, 2020 9:57 am

Good Morning All, Still in pjs, drinking coffee , texting and emailing. My new life, stay up late reading, get up late, yada, yada. Spent the morning swapping pictures of containers full of beautiful flowers. Family is keeping busy in their yards, porches and decks. #1 granddaughter made her Mom a wooden planter on legs out of wood from her children’s old swing set. I’m impressed. Our Governor lifted Stay at Home today as of 5pm but recommends Safe at Home which I will follow. I have an IPad and a smart phone but no computer. Do not understand how to post pictures on this site. Not tech savvy so wonder if there is something not turned on with the IPad that is preventing me from posting pictures. Any advice is appreciated. Dealing with fly away hair that really needs a haircut. Can you have cowlicks all over your head? Stay safe

Good morning Shirl and all. Finally a warm day but on the downside we have a stretch of rain coming in. The sun came out again awhile ago but don’t expect it to last long. I was supposed to have a hair appointment this afternoon but again we had to postpone it. But the good news is that I got a call earlier this week that the pup’s groomer is open now so he has an appointment next week. No yard work today for me since we had rain last night and the yard is super wet. I need to call and try to get Lola in for an inspection. Saw that they are open now too. So more good news. Now to just figure out how to do it. They usually like you to drop it off and leave it but since I don’t have a way of getting home I try to stay while they do it but not sure that’ll be allowed or wise. Sometimes they have someone that can give me a ride but they are short staffed right now so not sure. Guess I won’t know until I call! My friends are camping this week end so I may drive over and visit with them for a bit. I’ll probably just kick myself that I didn’t join them! But also watching the heavy storms that a forecasted to move in. Looking like some of them could be pretty severe so safer to stay home. At least that’s what I’m telling myself! :) so that’s about it for me today. I need to get some lunch. I made potato salad last night so that’ll be my lunch today! Have a great day and stay safe.

OK, so I DIDN'T head northeast to Ohio this morning. Problem was that I checked my email just before I was planning to go to bed (midnight) last night. Except got an email that my reservation for Salt Fork SP in southeastern OHIO for May 17-22 was cancelled--at least the 17th through the 21st was cancelled. They are extending their shutdown of state parks, but the email said they would open on the 21st. So I was up to 1:30 am trying to decide how to reschedule my return to Ohio.

Problem #1 - The route I took here from Knoxville was to head south along I-75 and then cut east at Sweetwater, except that the first half of this mountainous drive was very steep and curvy, and I had sworn I would never take it again. (No shoulders and constant left and right steering, plus people coming around curves and over hills at fast speeds scaring you as you drive the 100 miles.)

Problem #2 - Fewer campgrounds on the route from here that heads directly east and then north. I have never taken it, but the roads look wider even if they are mountainous and curvy. Runs next to Smoky Mountain National Park. It is unknown with fewer places to stay, partly because state parks are closed in North Carolina.

Problem #3 - If I left this morning, I would hit the weekend camping traffic, which has been substantial because of the sunny and warm weather. There must be a lot of people still working because weekdays are empty and weekends full here.

So, have decided to stay where I am in far northeast Georgia until Sunday morning and then take the western mountainous route. Once I meet up with Sweetwater on I-75, there are more open campgrounds because TN state parks are open, and one in Jellico is fairly new and has wide, paved spots that are nicely spread apart. I'll stay there for three nights and then head north through KY, stay there one night and then head northeast through Ohio. (Bonus is that I can stop at Trader Joe's in Knoxville.)

This spring has been really frustrating for a person like me who likes to have fairly stable plans with places to stay at already determined. With this virus, states are having all kinds of rules about shutting down and opening up.

Good morning gals!

Everyone is born with at least one cowlick, most only have two or three, a few people have lots of them. You can't get any more cowlicks than what you were born with. You might discover some you didn't know you had if you change your hair style or have it longer or shorter than you are used to. So that is my professional cowlick educational blurb!

I have had issues with my right eye for over a week now with itchy, watery and mucusy symptoms. Now it is in my left eye. I read on-line that now "pink-eye" (which I have never had) can be a symptom of COVID-19. I have a call into my doctor about it and just made an appointment for tomorrow to get tested at the Indio Fair Grounds just a mile from here. Just need to be cautious. I don't have a fever but am congested a bit. There are so many different ways this virus can manifest itself and even the experts don't know what ways we can be affected by it. Better safe than sorry.

Was gonna go to the store today for milk and a few other things but now will stay home until I know what is going on.

I closed the door to my bedroom last night thinking Maya was in my room. She started scratching on the door from the other side and before I could get up to open it, she managed to squeeze under the door! The door is about an inch and a half above the floor! She is a tiny thing!

Had the windows open all night again. So nice to have that fresh air blowing thru! Will be getting into the mid 90's today, so will have to close up the house shortly and turn the AC on again.

I have an on-line class I need to take for work in the next couple days. Shouldn't take too long to do tho.

My stomach is growling so I should probably make some breakfast. Have a good day! :D

It stormed a long time last night and we got 2 1/2 inches of rain. The thunder was bad and the cats and dog were jumping. I couldn't get the weather station to see if we were under any kind of watch. I guess I could have looked on my phone. I have satellite internet so that was out too. We are suppose to have more rain until about Tuesday.

I decided to go get a lunch at the grocery store and ended up getting over $60 worth of groceries. The local grocery is selling pizza from one of the more popular restaurants in Lafayette. I bought one because I have been wanting pizza and didn't want to have to order one.

I passed the beauty shop I go to and there were 6 cars there and it's not a very big place. The bank lobbies are still closed. I passed some campers coming South to the state park. All the state parks are open except 3. They are only open to Louisiana residents and if you reserve 3 nights you get another night free until the end of the month.

Just sharing Barbie that those of use that go really really gray get corky screws we never had before because of that texture change thing. lol I say that with a disclaimer knowing that Martha's hair is still pretty dark! Part of the reason I decided years ago to go short short short was because once my steely grays gets any length on them they start getting much to much a mind of their own...... Well that and I am lazy about having to "fix" my hair. I would much rather spend that time brushing out a pretty dog.

That would have to do with the hair texture rather than the direction of the hair follicle. Hair texture can change a lot for many different reasons, but turning grey is a very common reason and not very well appreciated by most people!

Most of my gray hair is in the front and it is getting pretty wiry. It wants to stand on end and the longer it gets the wilder it is. I sure don't appreciate it. If I take the time and use enough spray I can kind of control it but it's easier to just let it be. It seems like I have had a life long battle with my hair. It had some natural curl but it never curled like I wanted. When I was in my 20's I tried straightening my hair but that didn't help much.

It's hell to get old. My knees are taking turns hurting. I don't know what I did with my braces. They may still be in the camper. I have quit doing my walking. All this social distancing just makes me lazy.

My hair was always coarse and very thick. I started going gray in my early 20s. Now I’m dealing with wispy white hair. I have kept it short for many years and now the sides are Growing straight out like wings. I bought a ball cap in the dollar store but it didn’t help. I am scaring children and dogs growl at me. :?

I gave up two weeks ago and took my dog grooming clippers to mine. It is short all over now! I have to wear a hat out side anyway. To keep warm in the winter and to protect my face from the sun in rest of the seasons. I like easy care. I do make sure to wear ear rings when I go into public though.....

growing up my hair was straight and thick... now it's thinner on top and still thick in the back and way longer than I want but as I got older it got more curly not Goldilocks curly but not straight as a pin either.. I for the most part keep it up with some sort of a thing in the back can't think of what they are called...
one can actually see the table and things are back on the kennel and for the moment somewhat organized now if I can' just remember where I put them cause they are in a different spot
my grandson came in to see if he could figure out my radio haven't been able to listen to cd's on it he couldn't figure it out either... you can see the cd going around but no sound... while he was out here I asked him what type of screwdriver I need to get to take the covers off the floor vents he looked told me and went out and got one and took the vents off Larry had put a screen on them so stuff won't fall through but it gets clogged as well so we shook out the screen's and put them back on still need to get a screwdriver with a square head though... had one it disappeared
a friend from Q called we visited about an hour.. about an hour later was telling myself I needed to get up and fix something for supper... for some reason I looked at my text and saw that supper was ready at 7:15 so text back to see if any left there was went up and heated it up was sure good..much better than the grilled cheese sandwich I was pondering
you all have a good weekend
safe travels Judi

My hair was always totally straight and blonde. When I had my daughter, it started getting wavy (hormones will do that). I grew it out a bit, since I thought it would look really cool all wavy. But the waves didn't look nice, more like frizz, so I cut it shorter again. My hair has also gotten darker over the years and is almost black in the back. I have frosted my hair for so many years that until the past month or so, I didn't realize just how dark it has gotten. I can see more of the grey now too. I do have a frosting kit but I will wait to use that until I go back to work. It hides the grey and gives me more body. I usually get my hair cut in the back with a short clipper but now I can almost put it in a pony tail! I still cut the top and sides but can't reach the back. Another month or so, I will be sporting a mullet! :o

I have spent the past 6 hours watching a local charity concert on Zoom, with 6 local musicians, mostly playing jazz and blues music. All are currently (well up until lockdown) working here in the valley and some also work with very famous groups/musicians around the country. The charity is the local homeless shelter. It was fun to watch. One of the singers/musicians is from my church and he is in charge of lighting and sound for the services. He does sing occasionally at a service tho and is really good. He sings blues and plays at a couple different places in the valley here.

Didn't hear back from my doctor yet. Will call again tomorrow after I get my COVID-19 test done.

Maya is acting like a rambunctious kitten now! Running, jumping, climbing, stalking, attacking, and biting. :o I am trying to teach her not to bite, or at least not so hard. She is getting better. When I brought her home last week, she didn't seem to know what toys were and was actually afraid of them. Now she loves them and plays with everything! I did trim her tiny (but very sharp) claws today. We did OK on the front ones but she seemed very sensitive with the back ones so I didn't do them all. The front ones are more important to get trimmed for now tho. Once she burns off all her energy, she climbs up and falls asleep on my shoulder. :D

Found out my weekly pay now thru work will be equivalent to what I was making the first couple months of this year. They originally said it would be the average of what we were making last year which worried me since I was just working a few days per week until December. But by using the first couple months of this year, that made a big difference. They are also including what we made in credit card tips during that time period. They emailed what the amount of my weekly pay will be, and it is pretty decent so am happy about that. I should get a couple more checks from unemployment (they are delayed a few weeks) and that will go into my savings account with the other two I have gotten so far. At least I can sleep at night knowing I am OK financially. :D I was able to pay off most of my debt with my camper money.

Sheila, I had your grilled cheese sandwich for dinner tonight!

No wind tonight so will probably leave the windows shut and keep the AC on a bit. Have a good night!
