Mothers Day 2020

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mothers Day 2020

Postby Colliemom » Sun May 10, 2020 8:31 am

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY To all you Mother's out there, whether you have children or furkids. This is indeed going to be a very different Mother’s Day. But it will just be another day to store away in our memories. Every generation of mothers on this earth have been through trying times whether it be epidemics, wars, Great depression, loss of a child, diversity, hardships , etc. They have emerged far stronger women and have taught us how to persevere and be strong. And so we will persevere through this as well. The lessons they have passed down to us we will pass on to others. Some may not have had or still have, loving and caring mothers, but yet we don’t know that deep inside, there may have been or is a loving heart trying to get out and just did or does not know how. For those who had or have, wonderful, loving mother’s, we will cherish the memories forever. So on this Mother’s Day, let us honor and remember our Mothers. For without them, we would not be here or have become the person we are.

Good morning. Have been busy the last few days working in the yard and think I am now pretty well dialed in with things planted, watering system working, and yard debris picked up. Have a bag of yard debris to go over to the dumpster. Has been hot the last couple of days in the high 90's. Way too early for this heat but now we are on a cool down so that is good. Getting a tree picked up and planted this coming week. I chose a Redbud tree as it doesnt get too big and has pretty leaves and flowers. Jose will pick it up for me at the nursery and plant it ...whew

I am getting things ready to put back in the Motorhome as I have a camp out next weekend. First one of the year. Will be fun to see this camping group I met last year and really enjoyed. We will of course behave ourselves with distancing, etc. Only going for 3 days but should be fun. I will at least find out what I forgot to put back in the RV LOL

Oh. Sue.

Beautifully written, and extremely well put.

Especially this part: "Some may not have had or still have, loving and caring mothers, but yet we don’t know that deep inside, there may have been or is a loving heart trying to get out and just did or does not know how."

This made me weep. A very great truth here, I think. One that I, and likely many others, have never considered.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Thank you.

Yes Sue, very moving insight about mothers!

I was one of the lucky ones who had an awesome mom! I didn't know her very well until I was 17, due to her drinking and moving away for many years. Only saw her occasionally thru the years, but she became clean and sober, and we reconnected when I was 17. She showed me what unconditional love was. We were best friends after that! I lost her 13 years ago next month. I miss her very much!

It is also a bittersweet day, as I haven't been in contact with my daughter for about 2 years now. :(

I do have Lola, my furdaughter! She isn't doing too well lately. Nothing specific but I can tell she is just slowing down more and more now.

OK, enough of my post of happiness and joy! Got some laundry done yesterday. Will do another couple loads and clean up the house today too. Another warm day but not as hot as last week.

Have a good day! :D

Yes, Sue, beautiful. I was lucky with a wonderful Mom. And as an adult she became my best friend for years. I miss her dearly and wish I was only an iota as good a person as she was.

I'm bouncing back and forth at the store today... Going back shortly to teach one of the new people how to count down her register and make her bank deposit. After that I'll, hopefully, be done for the day. The next few days I'll be opening, so early alarm days. Hardest part is getting Ty to do his duty quickly and so early. It's too cold these mornings to give him his time.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

Beth, yesterday you mentioned wearing leggings. I started thinking about the ones I have. I bought two pair of bell bottom leggings (or yoga pants) last year and I don't like how they feel on me so haven't worn them since. But I got an idea about making masks out of them! So I cut off the legs on them and cut one section of a leg about 5 inches wide. Then cut off the hem at the bottom, cut that at one seam and used that as a tie thru the leg section and tied it behind my head. Works perfect! No sewing, gluing, etc. So now I have 4 double sided cute masks to wear!
Thanks for the inspiration! :D

Barbie, what a neat idea! I can't imagine what you did, even with your description. Can you post a picture, please?

It was our Pastor at Mass today who brought up the part about Mother's who have not per say been loving or caring mothers. He was talking about Mothers as part of his homily and said he sees it in his ministry, mothers who wish they had been better loving and caring mothers, and who carry this Heartache and grief in their hearts. It struck a chord in me too. We always look at it that way. Like Barbie mentioned with her own mother. After 17 years, her mother found what she had in her heart, missed the most. Love. I was very fortunate to have had a wonderful mother. . She’s been gone all for 25 years and I miss her dearly. This day brings me a lot of memories and a few tears too. .

I thought about going to visit with my mom through her door but wasn't sure if that would suffice or if it would make the loneliness worse and quite frankly didn't want to go alone ...this from the one who 3 weeks ago drove from AZ to Utah by herself... I think that is why then I have to here there are people who could go but one dd went to her son's and the other made potato salad and deviled eggs and I sat and visited...
we had a good day did call my mom and then we visited on chat this evening which we do every Sunday night for an hour or so...
hopefully I know why the pilot light didn't light last night haven't tried it after I "fixed it" mentioned to my sil that it wouldn't light he said he got distracted and didn't completely hook it up  so now it is will need to try starting it... but until now it's been ok temp wise but down to 66 now well out of my comfort zone. :o
you all have a good day

There are a lot of reasons mothers cannot be loving towards their kids. Abuse or neglect from their own mothers, mental illness, addiction, not wanting kids but having them anyways (resentment), etc. It is sad and I feel bad for those who didn't have a good experience with their moms. I had a less than stellar relationship with my dad and envy those who had good, healthy relationships with theirs. No families are without disfunction and problems tho. The Waltons and Cleavers don't really exist. I guess we just try to be better and not continue the problems and patterns with the next generation. Those of us who have had good examples with a parent or two, have great role models to follow and the next generations will benefit greatly from that.
