Chilly Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Saturday

Hey there! Decided it was time to make my monthly post! I did remember to say Rabbits on the first. Nothing is really new with me. Covis-19 hasn’t hit our county hard. So far there have been four cases in March and they have all recovered. Even though things are opening up I’m still laying low because I am in the high-risk category. Trips to the post office, grocery store and one trip to have a prescription filled have been it. I’ve only seen the grands in person once for a few minutes although we do facetime. Haddie was 3 on May 5th and I have her presents but they aren’t delivered yet. Plan to do that today. They’ll be branding tomorrow so I’ve made 5# of potato salad and in the process of baking four dozen kolaches to help Ashley feed the crew.

Had an expensive April. My refrigerator took a dive and it was only 5 years and 11 months old! Last Whirlpool product that I purchase. Worst part was that last year I just bought a new range in bisque to match the refrigerator. Well it was going to be 8-10 weeks to get a new refrigerator in bisque, so I ended up with stainless steel. Luckily we have “old crusty” in the garage that we could use until the new one came. Probably would have been wise to wait because I definitely thought twice before I tramped out to the garage to get something to snack on! Might have lost some quarantine weight or at least maintained. Then my computer died. I can’t complain about that because it was over seven years old. Ordered and new one and it was here in 4 days. But they don’t have CD drives anymore and I had to repurchase a lot of my programs and some of them are no longer supported. Anyone know a good and easy inexpensive photo imaging program to replace Corel Photo Album 7, it is not compatible with Windows 10. Corel is trying to sell me a professional program that is way too advanced for what I want.

I’m still in doggy day care mode. Roxy, my friend Missy’s Boxer, has been here for three weeks. She just hates going to the greenhouse in Mitchell. Missy has an apartment attached to the greenhouse and Roxy just howls when she is left in it. She can’t be out in the retail area because she is all white and people tend to think she is a pit bull. So she’ll probably be here until mid-June. Luckily she feels at home here because she has been here so much. She is an easy keeper, but the sloppiest darn eater I have ever seen. She has water and dog food all over the laundry room.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

You can probably purchase an external drive that connects to your computer via USB port. That's what I did when my new computer came without an internal drive. I easily used the external drive to load my old CD programs onto my new computer.

For a photo imaging program, I recommend PhotoShop Elements. It is a stripped-down version of the full-version $$PhotoShop$$, but it will probably do everything that you need. I'm not sure of the current pricing - maybe $100 +/-. Check around.

I have never used Corel Photo Album (have never used any Corel programs at all), so can't speak to that.

I have used PhotoShop for around 25+ years, and have always been quite happy with it. Elements does everything I need it to do. You might be able to download a "trial" version somewhere so as to see how you might like it.

Check for Elements videos on YouTube - probably a lot of tutorials there.

Good luck!

I agree an external drive works well. My son and I share one because once things are loaded, we unplug it.
Been a warm few days here, over 90 each day. But per weather people we have a cool down amd possibly showers early in new week. I have my spinal appointment Tiesday and my sons birthday Thursday, so that's my week ahead.
Hard to imagine all the areas having snow right now, when it was 75 at midnight last night and will be 90 today.

Good afternoon ladies!

It's warm and muggy in Ocala and we have rain showers moving in tomorrow, then clearing on Monday.

Several days ago, we filled out a 17 page application with our home bank in MD that we've been doing business with for 47+ years. We were trying to get a loan to buy an RV lot at a resort in Webster FL, but after they received the faxed application, there were several more things they needed that would have taken some time to get. In order to be able to get the loan, settle on that, then a second settlement to buy the property, we were running out of time. We had already extended our stay in FL by a month because of the virus and the county we live in in MD is considered a hotspot. So we called our financial advisor and completely changed our plans on getting the loan because we could have the funds we need through him by the end of this coming week. So much quicker. Although a small portion of the loan will be taxed next year, this is the route we've decided to take. Now we're waiting for information on the settlement, which will be in Silver Springs, just down the road from us. We are both elated that things went as smoothly as they did and the purchase is on. So that's my exciting news.

Church is tomorrow so I need to get a practice in either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Stay safe everyone.

Congratulations Irmi and Steve. A beautiful new home site and will be so much fun making it yours. Cold and windy here today so leaving plants covered. Hopefully spring will return next week. My children ignored my request to skip Mother’s Day and sent an Amazon gift card. Will spend tomorrow shopping on line and eating truffles. Be safe

Irmi, that's great news.

Pat, good to hear from you. Are you getting the winds we have in the west side of the state? Just walking to and from the store is COLD! I'm so glad leggings are a thing. I loved tights when younger and they pretty much disappeared. Now I love my leggings. And this cold is sticking around for too long... Possible snow Monday and Tuesday with highs only in the 30's.

One new worker arrived yesterday afternoon and we did paperwork today... She'll start tomorrow morning. Another is due in this afternoon but I hope she stops if she's driving in these winds. I'd rather she arrive safe and a day or two later!

I agree with everyone about external drives.

Shirl, they love you and you get to pick what you want!

I edited my post. Added a link. Made me cry because of now and when they originally sang the song.

Pat, I am thinking back to one of your posts early on.....and thought, "I bet it is nice not to have all the responsibility for providing for the spring branding crew." It is nice to pass the baton forward to the next generation sometimes.

Good to hear from you Pat. I had to go through the decision on the color of my refrigerator when mine went out. It was 11 years old. I had one that had lasted 18 years once. My appliances are white and to get the white refrigerator I wanted was going to take over a month. I could buy stainless steel everywhere but then it would have been different from the stove and dishwasher. The local appliance store lent me a refrigerator until the one I ordered came in. I love the new refrigerator but wonder when the stove will give out.

Irmi, glad your purchase is finally moving along. I saw online that some credit cards are lowering people's credit balance. Guess they are afraid people are not going to be able to pay. I have one credit card with a low limit that I have to tell the company every year not to raise the limit. I use it to buy gas when I travel and I don't want a high limit in case it gets hacked.

Sheila, Sugar gets a little bit of canned dog food and some dry. She just likes the cat food better. Next time I go to Walmart I will see if there is a small bag of something different and maybe a different kind of canned food. FYI Sugar is a girl.

Another do very little day. It is cool, overcast and windy. The storms came through here about dark last night and we got 1 1/2 inches of rain. The worst of the storm had fizzled out by the time it got here. I found a cream brûlée mix in the pantry so made that. Sure don't want to be losing any weight. Found a chuck steak in the freezer and am cooking it. It's been on low for almost 2 hours and still not tender.

Got my propane tanks filled would you believe that the state of Idaho has a law against loading and unloading personal canister's? He didn't follow the law and did load them for me... I can get them off the truck full but haven't tried getting them into the truck full... guess next time I will need to take a grandson with me...
went to the oldest grandson's new house helped a bit I guess... did some sanding cleaned a island off to put food on it and then a counter so there is less dust  actually not sure why it was cleaned off but a good thing as I'm sure that they put the uneaten food back on it... then dd and I took the great grand daughter for a drive she needed a nap in the worst way..after we got back went and got the propane and stopped at a book store partly to get something for my mom.. and as I was walking through saw a new book by an author that I totally enjoy so grabbed it as the library is closed if it was opened would have just checked it out... I would actually think a library would be fairly easy to reopen... easier to control amount of people in it than say a retail store. but anyway have this book which should be good...then had a desire for an ice cream sundae thought about Freddies and the drive thru looked doable but lots in line so went to DQ then on the wal mart
got most of what I had on the list still on kleenix wet ones or clorax wipes... forgot a few items how one does that when they have a list I will never know... then home to a surprise sil's truck was in my spot so I tried to back in beside him but he moved the truck. couldn't figure out why the saw and other stuff was there until I got out of the truck and there was a porch for lack of a better word (he had mentioned last year that he wanted to make me some steps so I didn't have to go up what he deemed unstable steps) so I wasn't totally surprised other than the size of said steps guess I could sent Beth the picture I took and she could post it as I've never figured out how to post pictures here... it was so good of them but now I have an incline to go up to get to the ramp no steps at all which is really good for Shadow.. and I need to figure out where to put my metal flowers as well as my hummingbird figurine want to be able to see them and where they are now it would be had to see them... will figure it out.. got the propane tank hooked up but still haven't gotten the pilot light to lite... it took forever when we first did it lesson is not to let the last take go empty  I think then the propane would still be in the hose...
think I need to turn on the furnace or try again keep thinking it will light...
so that was my busy day nothing accomplished but at the same time a lot was accomplished... oh one thing the porch does is add some stability to the trailer not as much movement...yea!!! and it's all moveable so when I leave it will just be moved out of the way...
you all have a lovely day tomorrow celebrate in whatever way you enjoy

I saw your picture of the new porch on FB. Looks really nice! WIll be so much easier for you and Shadow now. You might want to put something down on the ramp for traction. The boards can get slippery when they are wet.
