Cloudy Thursdsy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Thursdsy

Postby Colliemom » Thu May 07, 2020 7:05 am

Morning everyone. Haven’t posted in a few days, but have been reading. Had two early morniNg appts. With my truck to get a spray in bedliner put n the truck bed and assist steps put on as well. Then back home, just got into things and the day is gone. And the afternoon is devoted to daily walks sometime along the line.

Cloudy day here with a bit of weak sun. Having a spell of chilly weather and supposed to have some scattered rain/#snow mix, next couple of days. Not unusual around Mothers Day weekend.

Found out a couple of days ago, that the State Park I have reservations atw for the week leading to July 4th, will not be accepting new reservations till July 17th At earliest.. The water well has gone bad and they need to put in a new well. With everything being at a standstill these past couple months, plus a spending freeze and having to determine where to put in a new well, plus the possibility of havIng to install a whole new sanitation system, the project has been significantly delayed. They don’t know yet what they are going to do with those of us who have current reservations. Possibilities are cancelling all current reservations, refunding all monies or giving us a choice to move our dates to later in the season If there are sites available for one’s chosen dates. The other possibility is opening the campgrounds as a rustic campground and refunding us the monies between the two different rates. We can camp, but with no facilities or water. We can haul in our own with us. So we wait and see. Due to the state budget being hard hit from the virus, there is also a hiring freeze, so many parks haven’t been able to hire summer staff either. The freezes are part of the reason tbe parks will not open till June 22 as time is needed to prepare them for summer season. I have kind of been having second thoughts about going that week since the virus came. Not to thrilled about getting into the campground with the holiday crowd. Normally I don’t care, but this is different.

Judy, sounds like you are goibg to have your hands full getting the house cleared out, But once it’s done it will be the end. Good luck.
Barbie, you are really into the gourd projects now. Saw the pictures of the two you did. Beautiful work.

Guess I should get my day going here. Have some coats and jackets to move from office closet to closet by front door and then see what else I want to get into. Have a couple loose ends to tie up on my basement stairway and some outside craft Projects lined up. Have a nice day everyone. Keep safe and Healthy.

Good morning Sue!
I woke up at 4am and my mind started racing and hasn't stopped since! So 3 hours later, I am still laying here wide-eyed and bushy tailed. I am hoping I can get back to sleep for a couple hours here. I am sure there will be time later in the day for a nap, otherwise!

No more details on that accident yet. Sounds like a pretty complicated situation and they are still trying to figure it all out.

Martha, I hope Sugar is doing better today!

Have a good day!

That story I posted about yesterday just gets worse and worse! :o

The guy assaults the woman (probably his wife) in her car (about 10 miles from where I live), grabs the 1 year old baby (which was his daughter) and takes off in his car up the mountain. He drives the car off the side of the mountain which landed on it's roof 200 feet below. He survives the crash and climbs out of the car. A bystander comes down to help by taking the still alive baby from the back seat of the car. The man stabs the guy holding the baby, grabs the baby and throws her over a cliff into a ravine, killing her! The guy he stabbed, survived. The police found this man in another ravine after he ran off. He is being charged with homicide and several assault charges.

Could this get any more bizarre, tragic and heartbreaking??

Good afternoon ladies!

Judy, I wish you well cleaning out your aunts & uncles house. We did that for a friend from church and also my parents house. Fortunately, they weren't hoarders and although it was tedious, not like lots of people.

Barbie, that accident/incident, was horrible. I can't even imagine the rage is this man's mind. I've been reading about a lot of domestic abuse since so many couples are staying home due to the virus. It's so sad.

We were faxed a 17 page document to fill out for a loan for a site we're trying to buy, using a bank we've been with forever. After we fax it back, that wasn't enough. They still need more. Really??? I left a message with our financial advisor that I want some of our hard earned bucks to buy this. He'll call me tomorrow. Good grief.

It's warm in FL and chilly and damp in MD. We need to start heading north because we have things to do. But only for 3 months and do it all over again.

Stay safe.

was at the house only from 9 am to 4 pm, but I am really achy--back, neck, arms, you name it. I even sat in a chair to do some of the sorting.

So what is happening is that the realtor says to leave anything we do not want, and she will take care of calling in Habitat for Humanity and possibly Goodwill. Closing is going to be in mid-June, so not a lot of time, as the buyers have to be out of their house soon and want in. So, what I am doing is going through every cupboard, drawer, closet, etc and taking out personal and family stuff. The problem is that most of it is in boxes, so I have to open every single box and look through it. I put the stuff we want aside and my helper takes the trash stuff and puts it in black trash bags. By trash, I mean all the empty boxes they saved for stuff they no longer own, plastic containers, florist junky vases, etc. As an example, I sent them a big tray of Baklava three years ago, and after they ate it, they saved the box and the cardboard box it was shipped in!!! I also tossed all the liquor bottles that were mostly empty, the leftover pills and medical stuff, and about 10 linear feet of catalogs and magazines she had saved, plus the articles and recipes she had cut out of all of them. There was even a 3" thick folder on how to paint---maybe 100 booklets. And a patient binder from the Mayo Clinic from 15 years ago! I would say that you would not believe what they saved, but I know several of you have gone through the same things!!

Had my helper go through 10, yes 10, suitcases to make sure they were empty and then the three boxes of free soap, travel pouches, and other junk.

And we are not taking any of the furniture, kitchen stuff, clothing, or anything like that. I did go through boxes and boxes (BIG boxes) of brand-new and slightly used Christmas decorations. I swiped a dozen brand new tiny Santas, and tomorrow i am going to take the dozen small, unpainted wooden houses that I thought I'd make into a project with my grandkids next winter. I don't think I can do this 7 days in a row, so I am going to work tomorrow and Saturday and then take Sunday off. Will work Monday and Tuesday, maybe Wednesday and be done. Whew. Now I have papers to grade! But at least I can do that watching TV in my recliner.

You sure have a big job Judy. Your aunt and uncle are lucky to have you taking care of things. Over the last few years I’ve tried to look at all I have In my house, eliminating as much as possible and always thinking about how much work it will be when I’m gone. I got rid of a lot but I’m sure there’s more that could be done to make things easier when the time comes.

Take care of yourself.

Irmi, I hope you can finally get the money for your new home space! It is frustrating when things don't happen smoothly.

Judy, You are lucky to have a helper. I wish I would have had one. My brother just made it so much worse for me by tossing out things (mostly my stuff) before I had a chance to look thru it. He didn't care.

The woman who's husband attacked (stabbed) her, is pregnant. Luckily, both her and the unborn baby are doing good. Just such a sad thing tho.

I got an e-mail from the owner of my shop saying we will be back on the payroll as of May 11th. We won't start working at the shop but will be required to take some courses on-line from Great Clips University (yes, a real thing!), and some other things required, from home until we are OK'd by the state to re-open. So the unemployment gravy train will be coming to an end! Glad I saved my unemployment money so far. Will get two more weeks of that before going back onto payroll. Unfortunately, they are using our average income from 2019 to figure out what to pay us. I was mostly part-time when I started and up to last November before going to full-time, so my paychecks won't look very good based on that. I will be OK tho. Two of my debts are deferred until July so that will help for now. Will hopefully, be back to work by then, safely.

Am enjoying my strawberry shortcake! Also made a fried rice dish which turned out good. Been just reading on-line today so far. It is very hot out today again, about 110*, but will be in the mid 80's by next Wednesday! Yay! I have some things outside that need to be taken care of when it is cooler out. Someone did show up today to put something on the fire ant mound so that is good.

I usually plan the night before what I sorta want to do the next day and in my mind prioritize it if I get what was top of the list I am ok with my day today I got all three done!!! whew.... the two that I didn't touch will perhaps go to the top of the list and then maybe not... do know the dishes need to be done but will give a thought to the rest of the projects that I want to do... I may clean the walls on the side of the trailer that the desk is on... don't think that cupboard will be opened up... it's one of those need to sit down and go through stuff and see what is still useful or something that I still want to keep why so someone else can toss them away???
Sue those assist steps you mentioned is that on to the tailgate? or where... have seen some that I've thought how nice that would be but haven't looked into them very much. I do know that I can't get into the back of the truck and it would be a good idea if I could..
made some hamburger soup think I needed the red meat as I was snitching it when it was cooked... sure tasted good... which is a good thing as we have lots of
such a sad story read it on FB think something that you posted there Barbie
but hey I saw something that was a positive thing .... always good to read those stories
as a back of the story during the potato famine some of the Indian Nations sent a sum of money (I am not saying the amount as I can't remember for sure or which Indian Nation) to Ireland...Ireland this week sent a sum of money to the Indian Nations so hurt with the virus... one of the people who donated sent the exact amount that was sent to Ireland.. the sum wasn't large but when you think of the condition of the Indian Nation then or even perhaps now the amount they gifted was their all... a really neat story
I think sometimes we look at the headlines whether it be on FB or where and react without actually reading
one case was the headlines was telling about what looked like a confrontation with a vet and others had the vet in tears... I decided to read it just to see the the so and so's were doing I was glad I read it ... the vet was thanked by some who served in other branches of the services... bringing him to tears... a feel good story when read... it's sad that those who edit or write the story feel that in order for it to be read or even reacted to choose to make it sound sensational
you all have a good day

Sheila, yes, I posted both those stories. Good news stories! The one about the veteran sounded like a really awful story from the headline but was really a great story. I also don't understand why they have to make the headlines sound like a negative story. I guess that is why news programs on TV only report sad, bad and tragic stuff, rarely happy stories. Maybe their ratings are better with those, which is sad.
