Monday May 4

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday May 4

Postby Acadianmom » Mon May 04, 2020 11:16 am

We have a nice sunny day. We'll see if I can start morning coffee before some one beats me to it.

My dog was sick this weekend. Saturday afternoon she started having loose bowels and progressed to diarrhea. Yesterday if I could get her to eat something she would throw it up. I was going to call the vet as soon as they opened this morning but I woke up early and decided to be there when they got there. I have been worried about her all weekend and they were taking her like it or not.

I found a project to do, repair the back of the dog bed where the dryer melted a place. The label says not to dry it but who reads labels. lol I'm glad I didn't throw the leg bottoms of the last jeans I cut off. They make a good patch.

Yesterday didn't do anything but go fishing. I didn't even cook, just ate left over meatloaf. Need to dig in the freezer for something else to cook.

I had to get it together this morning instead of lounging around with a couple cups of coffee as I had an eye doc appt for my injection. Now I am free until next month wahoo. BUT I have to go see my Rheumatologist tomorrow around noon so will still get my leisure morning. My social outings ha ha

Sunny day today but we had frost this morning as I heard the turbines in the pear orchards going. Doesnt bode well for my tomato plants but we shall see. I will cover them tonite.

Martha hope nothing to serious with Sugar.

Martha, so sorry to hear that your sweet Sugar is feeling under the weather. Sounds like you are being an EXCELLENT DOG MOM - I like your attitude: "I woke up early and decided to be there when they got there. I have been worried about her all weekend and they were taking her like it or not."

Please let us know how Sugar is doing. We all have our fingers crossed for you - and for her. And that's a lot of fingers!

Best wishes,

Good evening ladies!

Martha, how is Sugar?

I talked to someone from our bank in MD twice today and things are moving slowly, but in a positive direction. We are really hoping we can buy this site, as the resort is gorgeous. But we're not holding our breathe. Steve was hoping we could cash in some of our investments and just pay cash, but with the crash in the stock market, that wasn't a wise move. So we're trying something else. It'll all work out, one way or the other.

Sugar is spending the night at the vet's. His tests didn't really find anything so he sent her blood for for testing. I didn't ask where he has to send it. She got a shot for the vomiting so hope that helps her eat. It sure is quiet here tonight.

Just about ready for bed here.

I went to WM today to get some things. I stopped on the way there at the farm stand and got a few more ears of corn and some more strawberries. Was thinking of getting stuff for strawberry shortcake but then decided to get an Edwards Cheesecake pie and put the strawberries over that. So I grabbed the pie and some other things I needed and headed home. When I got the pie out of the bag, I realized I had grabbed the Key Lime pie instead of the Cheesecake. I like Key Lime but not with strawberries. Since I really didn't want to go back to WM, I asked my next door neighbor if she could pick up the Cheesecake pie for me the next time she and her sister go to WM which they do every few days.

I discovered a fire ant mound in my backyard the other day as a couple of them got on my foot and stung me! So now I have two nasty blisters on two of my toes. I need to call the office tomorrow and have them send someone over to take care of the ants for me. We don't have any issues here with critters much, other than occasional fire ants and black widows. Those aren't fun either but at least we don't have snakes or scorpions here like other communities around here have. We have a high concrete wall around us that seems to keep those out. I should get a pest control guy out to check under the house for the spiders. Our community takes care of the ants but not the spiders.

Am working on a design for another small gourd I have. I ordered a few more gourds that are a little bigger so I can do more with them. I want to practice wood burning on them. These little guys I have now, just fit in the palm of my hand and I can't do too much detail work on them. Still waiting on a couple things I ordered for the cat gourd so I can finish that one.

My county had 20 deaths yesterday from COVID-19. That is a lot! That is why I don't want to go out any more than I have to. I have a friend (former co-worker) on FB who thinks this whole thing is a joke and doesn't wear a mask or take any precautions. She has two little kids at home and doesn't seem to think there is any risk of them getting sick. I am thinking of blocking her because I get so mad at some of the crazy stuff she posts about it. Her friends are even worse. :x

Have a good night!

Thanks for the post, Barbara. I always enjoy reading about your adventures. Reading about your gourd activities makes me want to get back to my jewelry-making. I haven't made a thing since January; usually I make one or two pieces a week.

I, too, know of a couple people that think this virus thing isn't real. It is a head-scratcher, for sure.

I'm thinking that since (to them) it is a joke, why don't they go volunteer at one of the hospitals where the epidemic is in full swing? I'm sure the hospitals would welcome their efforts. After all, since (to them) the virus thing isn't real, then they should have no risk of becoming ill themselves. And they could do a lot of good volunteering - at very little expense to the hospital. After all, they wouldn't need any expensive masks or protective equipment either,
so it would be a win-win, right? :?

Anne, she refuses to wear a mask out in public and is posting supposed articles on how masks don''t work anyways. I have been asking for the source of her "information". Very frustrating!
