Thursday MC 4/23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday MC 4/23

Postby BirdbyBird » Thu Apr 23, 2020 8:17 am

Good Morning. As of yesterday afternoon my "work from home" project is officially completed and I am retired once again. Lark is hoping for enough warming sunshine so that she and Audrey can get me back outside and walking. My "health care plan" always takes a hit when I sit at the computer for long hours each day. I am also looking forward to participating in an online "Puppy Evaluation" party through Zoom this evening and again on Saturday. There is a formal process that evaluates different aspects of the puppies temperament and conformation. It will be different not being able to put our hands on the little 8 week old wiggly buggers but it is the best we can do under the circumstances. It is a litter of 7 Blue Roan English Cocker puppies.

So have a good day. Make a to do list or don't make a list. We each follow the sounds of our own drummer. Make it a good dance.

I had a list in my mind last night but can't remember what was on it. I am sure I can find something around here that needs to be done! I'm thinking dishes and making masks was on the list...

The wind and heat is doing a number on my outdoor plants. I try to water them every day but they are all drying up anyways. Potted plants just dry out so quickly here. Might have to switch over to succulents.

Had the AC on all night last night for the first time this season.

The golf courses opened just in time for the heat here. Many of the golfers here are getting out there at 6am while it is still fairly cool.

I went to WM and Home Depot yesterday to return a couple things and bought a few things I needed. What I couldn't find at WM, I got at WinCo. WM had eggs but they only had 2-dozen egg containers. I usually buy just 6 at a time and still don't use them all before they go bad. WinCo had 1 dozen containers so I got one of those. I also wanted celery to make more tuna salad, but I hate buying a bunch of celery for just a couple stalks but it is cheap. So I asked my neighbor if she was interested in eggs and/or celery and she wanted some, so I kept 4 eggs and 3 celery stalks and gave her the rest. When I got home from WM, I realized I was missing stuff so I went back and they had one bag of my stuff at the checkout, so that was good.

I had heard that they are adding $600 to unemployment payments and I assumed that was per month which would really help. I just discovered yesterday that it will be $600 per week! That is a lot, and actually more than I was actually making at work. I will put that extra money in my savings account and figure out the best way to use it later. I will probably pay down one of my debts and donate some of it to a local charity that is in need, and there are a lot of those right now and will be more later.

Beth, how are things going in Keystone?

Have a good day and stay safe!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I just finished eating and cleaning up after breakfast. Yes, it is early afternoon, but I slept in, then putted around for a while, reading in bed and such. Finally, the tornado alert went off just as I was getting stuff out for a late breakfast. So, I packed up my electronics and put all my electronics into my backpack. Then I made my bed, got dressed, put stuff away quickly, and put the slides in, and headed over to the restrooms, where everyone else was hanging out. Spent over an hour there until the worst of the storm was passed. Then, of course, I had to put my slides back out and get stuff out again. By the time I cooked up some pancakes and got some juice it was almost 2 pm!

Whew! Still raining but most of storm is past us. Area needs rain, as does most of southern GA and northern FL.

Glad to hear you are getting a bigger unemployment check, Barbie. And I hope you can make a little extra cash with your gourds.

I have been lucky because I have worked online for so long that nothing has really changed for me. I had quit teaching college classes part time way back in 1997 and was asked to return in 2002, but I almost turned them down then. I am very very glad I accepted it because it has made a big difference in my lifestyle and allowed me to buy my motorhome and travel. I am getting tired of the level of work at my ancient age, but without it, i would not be able to do this.

I woke up about 2:00 this morning and the local TV stations were tracking possible tornadoes going East between I-10 and HWY 190. That is about 50 miles North of me. There were 2 people killed. It looks like every week we have bad storms coming through.

I had someone make a drive way at the property in Maurice so had to go see it. Went to the post office and Walmart. There were a lot of people at Walmart.

Barbie, if you just need a small amount of celery you can buy one of the vegetable snack trays and have other vegetables to eat. I am eating a lot of zucchini cooked in the air fryer. I had some of the shake and bake coating in the pantry so used that last night. It worked good.

I love that the grocery stores in Quartzsite sell things like celery by the stalk. Sheila had asked if I had a couple stalks of celery for something. I didn't but remembered when I was in the store.. Perfect, bought her a couple stalks.

Barbie, things are moving right along. We aren't doing food service this year so I'm having fun rearranging the store. It looks so much better already. And I like seeing the vendors... We have, for the most part, a great group of them. They are all slow, many have cut hours, etc, so we've already got way more product in than normal by now.

I've made a pickup order for Walmart for Saturday. The other day I went to start the rv to change sites and my rv wouldn't start. I'm so lucky that didn't happen on the way here. Rich (one of the workampers) pulled my battery this afternoon and put it in my car trunk and I'll pick up a new one while at Walmart. I guess I can't complain, it is over 6 years old. But NO warning!

No tornado warnings/alerts here, but while Rich was removing my battery and I was filling my water tank, we got a little hail. Very small and didn't last long, but hitting my head while I connected my hose was a shocker. :)

Time to get Ty's dinner and think about what I'll have.

Judy, you made your bed before heading to the shelter in a storm warning?? I think I would have skipped that part!

Martha, I have bought those little veggie kits before to get the celery, but they didn't have any at WM other than the party sized ones which are very expensive. Now that I know I can give away what I don't need, then I am willing to buy the whole bunch. I just hate to throw out good food.

I got my unemployment debit card today. Just one week's worth of pay on it so far (without the extra $600) but should get paid again today. Hope the extra money will be added soon. So far, I am the only one from my shop that has gotten paid and gotten the debit card.
I paid some bills and discovered I don't owe anything for my health insurance this month. It is thru Covered California or ACA, so maybe they are deferring payments for now. Every little bit helps! I still have my stimulus money so that will cover me for awhile and now with my unemployment coming in, I should be set until I get back to work. One less thing to worry about!

I made a mask today which turned out OK after a few alterations. It will work for awhile. Also worked on the cat gourd since I got my colored ink dye for it today. The dye allows for the markings on the gourd to show thru versus acrylic paint that will cover those up. So far it looks good.

I hear ducks in my back yard. My neighbor has bird feeders behind her house and the ducks come by to eat what is on the ground. I have been giving them some shelled sunflower seeds which they love!

I KNEW someone would get me for making my bed before taking shelter!! Really, it only took me a minute.

So far, 2" of rain today and a lot more coming down right now! I'll bet we will hit 2.5" at least. I have a pond outside my side door to my motorhome so could not even take the trash out today. Would have to wade. Storms like this tell you which sites not to reserve in the future. One big Class A motorhome moved away from under the trees where they were parked. Trees are nice for shade, but not nice during rain storms. Campground is only 1/3 full right now, but I expect more will come on the weekend and after the rain stops.

we had a cloudy wet chilly day then it turned into lighting and thunder and hail... and then snow... experience all parts of weather think it was windy as well plus sun and blue sky for an hour... my sil called asked if I'd gotten my heater I said no (like what part of quarantine doesn't he get??) he said that he would pick it up for me as it was suppose to get pretty cold tonight.. might need to pull out the heating lamps and put them under the sinks ugh hate that much light...actually need to put the heater on high on med it's about what high was on the smaller one..
didn't get anything accomplished today... not sure why just didn't I have two games on my phone that I've not played probably in a month or so decided to play one of them today...wow do they reward you for staying away I actually won on first try and the rewards they gave like lots for coming back... might have to do that again...  but as Scarlet said there is always tomorrow!!!
we will hope that I actually try to do something so when all is said and done I can look at my home and see more order and less clutter.
for the last several months Shadow hasn't been coming up stairs to the bedroom... except very occasionally twice since we have been her he has come up think it might be warmer for him up on the bed instead of on the couch or on his bed which ever he chooses...
you all take care drop by and say hi let us know how you all are doing
